Description

I will use this machine for htcp and gaming a little bit of everything it is the main entertainment in the household. the build went well but a little nerve racking double guessing myself every second but in the end the only issue I had was no video reason was monitor wasn't supported. still updating and working out the kinks getting things the way I like it happy building everyone

HTPC ehh? You could run your own movie theater with this beast lol

And for F's sake if I see another person with an awesome build and a stock cpu cooler I'm gonna lose all faith in humanity lol

I don't think I quite understand this. A 4790k on a $220 Z97 mobo that you're not overclocking, 16GB of expensive RAM, an expensive SSD, 2x970s... for an htpc?

I don't think an htpc would look even like this

The rationale behind his parts are really annoying me... OP did you not consult anyone for advice first?

Dude, it literally says "I will use this machine for htpc and gaming a little bit of everything it is the main entertainment in the household." What else do you need?

Well, judging by his $500 investment in overclockable hardware that he isn't overclocking, his 74C/GB SSD, and his 2 $30 fans, he could have gotten something cheaper, or he could have been able to fully utilize his hardware and maybe saved a bit of money.

dont forget he has the stock cooler aswell. LOL

I guess I didn't type that. =p The OP must have been confused... really confused. Rather that or he doesn't know how to put together a good parts list.

I retract the statement about the OCability, but if he had a microcenter near him, it is a nice deal. PLUS, the freaking description says gaming build. facepalm loses faith in humanity.

i think he plans on producing and editing movies for his own movie theater lol

Nice build though you might really want to get a third party cooler.

I would second that, other than that good build, nice parts.

Is SLI-ing 970s really hot? Kind of lost here. I mean 4770K without OCing is fine.

Yeah but keeping the processor more cool will increase the lifespan of it

have you seen detroit lately?

Dude. You can't judge a whole state by one single city. In my city, the crime rate is like 2,000 out of our 1.5 million population of Oakland County. What you're saying is the same as China sucks because Maozedong screwed up. Plus, certain pockets of Detroit are OK, like west detroit and etc.

Yeah wanna comment on that too, but he also uses it for gaming too. So if you add that it's even. But all people see that HTPC word and go crazy that he coud have gone better with cheaper build, but hey if he has money why not?

Yeah i don't think people know that he is gaming in 4k as well. Or at least i believe he is since he is using a 4k tv as a monitor.

Why the 780T over the 750D or 950D though? That's the real question.

White? Little more fun?

White doesn't beat black, and also nice windows and cable management. There is a 760T that has a yellow edition though. Black is just ok for uk, low profile pcs and stuff. Ppl don't have to be flashy to be cool.

Yes I will be gaming at 4k sometimes but will stick with 1440 most of the time as for the HTC we don't have cable so all media content will be thru this pc and gaming when my wife let's me lol maybe a little over kill as for stock cooler I was informed it will ruin my warranty but the machine is running a little hot so I will be putting in a h100i this weekend should solve that issue

Guys give him a bit of a break. It does say "first build". I wish I had that much dough to spend on components in one epic shopping spree. For future reference you could have purchased RAM that costs half that price and would not notice a difference, but the Dominator Platinums do look pretty amazing. I'd suggest upgrading your CPU cooler when you get some extra change. A Corsair or NZXT 240mm unit for the all-in-one liquid crowd or something like the BeQuiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 if you prefer air cooling. Also become best friends with Asus FanExpert. That 780T looks cavernous so you've got plenty of room to grow. Have fun, you should be set for a couple years minimum.
