Description

I use this for gaming at 4k resolution and for work

cpu is clocked up to 4ghz and I overclock the video cards +180 gpu and +320 mem while gaming. RAM is at the 2800 xmp profile

Besides the water cooling and monitor setup issues I wrote below this build has been amazing. Borderlands 2 looks incredible and GTA V runs at about 40 FPS with mostly max settings (keep in mind 4k). I can also run minecraft :o Also I must say the bios/software that comes with the motherboard is really convenient. I felt like splurging on the best parts money could buy, no ragrets

This was my first time water cooling, I did have two water leaks. One was noticed straight away while filling, I was using crappy connectors between video cards so I swapped those out for something better, and another I discovered a few days later in the reservoir, it was a very slow leak and it didn't do any damage as it only got a small puddle on the bottom of the case. Apparently you need to put the screws back in after swapping out the plate inside the reservoir as I did not want the "waterfall effect". I am still paranoid about it now though and check the level every day. Also its been about 7 months and the pipes are turning green-yellow I should probably replace them at some point, the water in the reservoir looks clear though. Also I think my loop could be more organized with a better drainage system. If i want to drain I will have to actually unscrew the bottom radiator to get the drain valve actually sticking out of the case so that was just poor planning on my part. Right now I am using strong sticky velcro to hold the reservoir and pump in place as I didn't want to drill holes. It isn't ideal, but it does hold well enough.

Another issue I ran into was setting the monitors to use the correct display port version, they turn off almost immediately without input detected, so I actually had to hook up a hdmi cable to my laptop just to get the monitors to stay on so I could change the display port setting so that it would actually work with the video cards

The part list here is what I ended up actually using, wasted more money on other things that ended up not being used. Also stuff is a lot cheaper now half a year later so I modified the prices to be what I actually paid. I have another pump and triple radiator that I don't need if anyone is interested. I had returned a sound card and a different keyboard as well, the much better k70 is amazing.

If you question the legitimacy of this build feel free to email me and I will make a video or something. Or if you have any further detailed questions about it. phanaticd@gmail.com

I have to ask. What kind of work would require of such a powerful PC? If it's a workstation, I'd expect a Xeon. Are the GPUs for computing or for rendering?

Just curious.

that was more just for the games, the work just requires lots of windows to be open so I wanted a lot of big monitors

Two things. First I think its time for a desk upgrade to go with this pc, to bad pcpartpicker doesnt help with that. And second, you get that damn fan error too?!

Yea I do need a nicer desk, and yes but it can be set to be skipped in the bios so at least it doesnt affect anything

You realize you bought a DX12 style CPU w/o DX12 compatible Graphics cards? Massive waste of money. No offense, need to see what you can return/sell.

still will work titan black is kepler, also not really something I even thought about. I will probably upgrade by the time that is relevant though and try to sell the titans, but for now I dont think its a waste

Oh glorious overkill. :) Really, could have spent thousands less and had a great build as from what you are doing you will never use the performance fully from your build over one that would be half the price. Think of how many dollars you could give to unicef for the difference in wasted money?

thanks for your concern however I didnt really build this with money as a factor

Yup, you earned what you have. I'm prone to ironic rants, and nostalgia. Lol Mine will be like 3,400$ when it's done, though those damn gpus always cost a lot for so little. You truly need 2 titans for a proper 4k display at 144hz. Anywho, enjoy... and remember the children!!! ;)

You should've got Titan X's instead, try to keep up to date with new releases of computer hardware, that's what I do mate. Don't get me wrong it's still a powerful computer but, you could've got away with Titan X's though. If you're right with being under 60 fps (I'm kinda like that), you might not need the upgrade if just gaming.

The Titan X came out a few weeks ago (could be a month ago, I'm not sure), you were right about them not being out last year.

Titan X is a joke fpr gaming. The 980ti performs almost the same.
