Description

Just thought I'd update my rig on here as I have changed things a bit. I've switched from a generic PS/2 keyboard to a Ducky Shine 3 with MX Blue's and my monitor to a Asus MX239 from my old BEnQ.

OLD ***I just turned 16 (today :p) and this is my rig I built back at the beginning of January. It's my first and I use it for gaming, photoshop, vegas and general browsing. With the video card oc'd it plays pretty near everything completely maxed at around 60fps, Far Cry 3 and Crysis 3 are a couple exceptions. Right now I was testing pointing the cooler up so it normally doesn't look like that. Any suggestions would be welcome.

edit: The GPU was in the top slot until I tried turning the CPU Cooler and the slot is PCI-E 3.0x8 so there isn't any bottlenecking on a midrange card such as this.** OLD

Nice, but put you Video card in the top slot for max performance the bottom slot is PCi 2.0 and the top is PCi 3.0. A Pci 2.0 x16 is as fast as a Pci 3.0 x8, So, you are limiting you Gpu on game's :)

^ this as well as the slot that the GPU is installed in the pictures is wired x8 where as the top slot, which it should be installed in is full wired x16. I see this happen with so many builds on this site, I can't wrap my head it. What is the motivation of installing the card near the bottom?

My gpu has been in the top slot since I got it. I just moved it down to try the cpu cooler that way and have noticed 0 performance difference.

My gpu has been in the top slot since I got it. I just moved it down to try the cpu cooler that way and have noticed 0 performance difference because the bottom slot is PCIE 3.0x8 which does not bottleneck GPU's, especially midrange ones like this. Thanks for the tip though

Decent build and the only suggestion I could give you is read the manuals. as I mentioned in the reply to another comment, your graphics card is in the wrong location and is not performing as good as it can. Being this is your first build, manuals should have been the first thing you should have memorized :P at least the motherboard manual.

*maybe take a second or two and clean up before taking a picture??

To be fair, the name of the build is "Slob's Build"...

My gpu has been in the top slot since I got it. I just moved it down to try the cpu cooler that way and have noticed 0 performance difference. And I read all the manuals multiple times cause I was bored waiting for parts. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Really nice build with excellent cable management. I always like seeing unneeded HD bays removed for better air flow. Damn, I wish I could get that RAM for $30 today too...

Just don't spill your cereal on it! :D

Thanks man. And yeah I scored on that RAM. I bought it like 2 months before everything else but it was worth it.

Canadian dollars to american dollars are around the same man. The only alternative at the same price point was basically the GTX660.
