Description

FIRST BUILD and I would like to start off by saying thank you to all that post on this site and keep it as great as it is. Built for gaming, chat, and music. 9/11/2015 Already had a Razer keyboard and mouse, so decided to go with the H440 Razer case. Matches well with my Xbox One. ASUS PG278Q monitor is insane with the Hybird 980Ti.

CPU at idle roughly 28°C. Full load can take it anywhere up to 42°C; (being the highest I've seen it reach on demanding games at max settings).

GPU at idle roughly 25°C. Full load can take it anywhere up to 54°C; (being the highest I've seen it reach on demanding games at max settings).

Games with G-Snyc at 144fps looks incredible. Everything worked well and went down without a hitch. Was worried a bit about the CPU cooler but seems to be working well, plus both rads fit in case with no problems. Have switched out my PSU for a better one.

Laptop1: HP, 16GB RAM, AMD Firepro, Intel i7, OS 7

Laptop2: Sager, 8GB RAM, Nvidia 740m, Intel i7, OS ubuntu Linux

That PSU is not really suited to this PC. I would definitely replace it with a proper unit. Antec, XFX, Seasonic, EVGA (G2,B2,GS)

cmulcahy0115 submitter 1 Build -1 points 36 months ago

It's there just for the first month...

tiny_voices 3 Builds 4 points 36 months ago

Hopefully it makes it!

cmulcahy0115 submitter 1 Build 0 points 36 months ago

Although not the best, it is not complete crap and has all the internal protection not to damage my components but I appreciate the concern.

tiny_voices 3 Builds 2 points 36 months ago

Ehh not really. CX units fail all the time and some have damaged PCs, like my own. I lost a motherboard and RAM to a cx600 2 years ago. I'd DEFINITELY replace it. It is not a good PSU by any means. DEFINITELY not ok for your build. Why subject your PC to the voltage swings and ripple of a bad PSU?

cmulcahy0115 submitter 1 Build 0 points 36 months ago

Either way its for a short amount of time. Im not defending the unit by any means. My pc uses about 472W. AGAIN IT IS THERE FOR JUST A SHORT WHILE. Thanks for the input but she'll be fine for the SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME that it'll be there

jay227ify 2 Builds 4 points 36 months ago

I would seriously consider replacing that PSU.

cmulcahy0115 submitter 1 Build 0 points 36 months ago

Yes just have it there for the first month. It is working very well tho

TheTherapyPc 3 points 36 months ago

Why didn't you skylake?

cmulcahy0115 submitter 1 Build -1 points 36 months ago

Not in my budget.

You mean Hashwell (Refresh).........

I'll get my coat...

Because they're using the same socket and kinda the same platform. The main difference is die shrink with Broadwell.

Geode1010 2 Builds 3 points 36 months ago

LOVE HOW U DIDNT GO WITH SKYLAKE!!! LOVE HOW U WENT WITH THAT PSU!!!!!!!

LOL

cmulcahy0115 submitter 1 Build 1 point 36 months ago

TY :D, I love your MOBO too. Those "thin air made of nothing" MOBO's are very nice

LOL

cmulcahy0115 submitter 1 Build 0 points 36 months ago

The case is amazing for cable management and the LEDs look great.

ALDJ0922 1 Build 2 points 36 months ago

Did you order parts over time? Or did you just now want to skylake?? Z170 boards are superior

cmulcahy0115 submitter 1 Build 0 points 36 months ago

Didn't want to and didn't fit my budget.

ALDJ0922 1 Build 2 points 36 months ago

Understandable. great build though

bgibbz 1 Build 2 points 36 months ago

You should be more open to constructive criticism rather then be super defensive in the comments.

cmulcahy0115 submitter 1 Build 0 points 36 months ago

Not one person has said a decent thing. I researched all the parts in my build for a month before buying. Like it sates in the build, the PSU will only be there for a short amount of time. Plus commenting "Why not skylake blah blah blah" is not constructive criticism but rather an unnecessary thing to say. And I'm not a 16 yo child with mommy and daddy's visa. I'm a fulltime tech student taking 17 credits and balancing a part time job. I paid for what I could at this point. Sorry, me getting mad got you mad.

piemancoder -1 points 36 months ago

I think your build is good. The only complaint I have is the Xbox One :P JK

Ropota 2 points 36 months ago

Nice build for the parts. The pictures don't do the build justice. I really envy the hybrid 980ti and I want to get one but the next card I get will be a pascal card. I will buy the most powerful pascal card and be set for all eternity!!!! (1080p maybe 1440p downt the line)

cmulcahy0115 submitter 1 Build 1 point 36 months ago

Appreciate your input m8. Lmk when you get your newer build up :)

ItzAlesh 2 points 36 months ago

Someone doesn't know how to take pictures ;)

BarishPCMR 2 points 36 months ago

Everything killer*

Jake762by39 6 Builds 2 points 36 months ago

Can I be the 100th one to complain about your power supply?

noap7 2 points 36 months ago

How well does that mobo perform? Would you recommend it?

cmulcahy0115 submitter 1 Build 1 point 36 months ago

Mobo is very nice and user friendly. The mobo itself has a nice goldish look to it and it that matches well with the goldish shroud around the GPU and black RAM. Plus the BIOS look very sharp and are easy to navigate.

dagreendooky 2 points 36 months ago

+1 for you. Good build and mostly good parts. To be honest I'm not sure what's the deal is with all the unusual comments on your build, bro. This must be the first build I've seen with 50+ comments that is 'not' featured. =P

Hang in there.

cmulcahy0115 submitter 1 Build 0 points 36 months ago

Thanks m8 ;X

I haven't deleted a single comment. "If the only thing you have to say is regarding my PSU(which I already stated my concerns for it in the desc.) and/or skylake(Not in my budget and I didn't feel it was needed for gaming)... Please save it cause I don't give a ****. :D" This was the first comment that I said after the first 4 comments only asked why I didn't skylake and that my PSU is crap, which hasn't been deleted and can still be seen below. You're literally making up lies which is fine. I also never swore once besides saying "I don't give a ****" which I don't and again I never deleted it. Plus I would never use the f word on a forum.....lol Also the guy that was giving me the hardest time, has sense, had all of his comments 'deleted by staff'

Matt_M77 1 point 36 months ago

I'm intrigued by the rajintek triton. Thinking about using one on my 4690k. How is it working for you? Is it nice and quiet?

cmulcahy0115 submitter 1 Build 0 points 36 months ago

Quiet as can be. and I actually really love the manual fan controller. Colored liquid looks incredible and most of the tritons now, have a new pump and seal design. It does a very good job at keeping the CPU cool around 28°C idle and anywhere up to 42°C at full loads

TechyinAZ 14 Builds 1 point 36 months ago

Looks great! First time I've seen a hybrid GPU in a while. How is it?

The PSU isn't great. However I won't harp on you since you said it's only there for a month. Just make sure it has enough cold air going thru the PSU so it won't melt down lol.

cmulcahy0115 submitter 1 Build 1 point 36 months ago

Will do sir. Thank you for your input and I believe it is doing a good job at cooling. The GPU has never reached over 54C (on more demanding games) at max settings....

pickanddrop 1 point 36 months ago

This thing should have jail time +1 -- I'd suggest you change your P... XBOX!!! :D y

cmulcahy0115 submitter 1 Build 2 points 36 months ago

:P I like PS4 too, I just prefer Xbox's controllers, exclusives and windows OS

MightyHammer 1 point 36 months ago

is the onboard audio card good on the asus z97-a?

cmulcahy0115 submitter 1 Build 2 points 36 months ago

Real good. Trust me

Ranza 1 point 36 months ago

I want to build a H440 combo with EVGA 980ti Hybrid too, where did you position the EVGA's radiators ? Front or up ? Also, you set it as exhaust or intake for the best temp possible ? Much appreciated, sorry for asking too much.

cmulcahy0115 submitter 1 Build 1 point 36 months ago

Its only one radiator; and neither, I have it exhausting heat out the back.

Look here

Ranza 1 point 36 months ago

Thank for your reply, guess I will also settle down with 1 EVGA Hybrid first to see if it's can fit on front or not, if it fit, guess it's time for SLI too.

MARCOzid 1 point 23 months ago

Giving feedback/advice on a psu is a good thing. Sorry that you don't like being told that your psu is crap but it truly is so no need to get hostile. You do have a pretty solid build though despite it.

Here is a list of psu tiers check out tier 1 and tier 2: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html the psu you have is a tier 4 which i know you said won't be there for long i'm just letting you know what tier it is.

cmulcahy0115 submitter 1 Build 1 point 36 months ago

Yeah thank you for the link and input. Just gets annoying when someone reminds you 3 times of something you already know and/or stated at the beginning.

Arkwoman1990 1 Build 2 points 36 months ago

You're welcome

Ropota 1 point 36 months ago

Your PSU is the BEST ONE YOU CAN BUY EVERRRRRRRRR.

cmulcahy0115 submitter 1 Build 0 points 36 months ago

Thanks was $1.2 mill after tax

Ropota 2 points 36 months ago

That's a freaking STEAL!

cmulcahy0115 submitter 1 Build 1 point 36 months ago

xD

piemancoder 1 point 36 months ago

I know how you feel. At my age, EVERYTHING is like that. Before I got my friends interested in PCs and before they did research, it was all "consoles are the best", "macs are the best for gaming" "what you want to BUILD a PC? what's wrong with you"

dagreendooky 2 points 36 months ago

"macs are the best for gaming"

huh? say what!? I'm a lifelong mac fiend and I've never heard this one before.

piemancoder 2 points 36 months ago

You've never been to middle school in this modern day and age.

[comment deleted]
cmulcahy0115 submitter 1 Build -3 points 36 months ago

To react like what? Like I already stated in the desc. I know the PSU is not the best and I don't need EVERYONE to remind me. It gets annoying and I just built it with not one person saying something nice. I got offended but I am sorry you feel the way you do.
