Description

(GPU updated, not going for SLI, accidently double clicked GPU)

Hi guys, this is my first gaming build. Well for editing/work purposes too (photoshop, ai, after effects and some video editing).

Hm so how do I start, I'm from the Philippines? Lol

CPU - Was going for i5 4690k, but since there's a sale at one online shop here, $35 usd discount.. Decided to get i7 4790k. Never let me down, games and rendering!

CPU Cooler - At first I chose this because it's white. Lol. Was supposed to get Corsair H100i GTX, but I was scared of leaking/issues/noise issues. I'm not expecting to get some good temps from this frostbourne, but wow, after adding 2 corsair sp fans performance on it (Push/pull config). Stock clock, idle - 32c load - 52c. On Prime95 I'm getting 62c (10 minutes running). But 52c max for gaming. (Witcher 3, BF4, Crysis 3)

Motherboard - Nothing much here, I just chose it because of it's colors. Lol.

RAM - It's white FTW!

HDD - I'm almost reaching the budget limit, so just 1 TB for now :)

GPU - Oh man, this beast! I ordered this here in a online shop. (Philippines). Before I saw this beast, I was going for G1 Gaming GTX 970 Gigabyte/Strix 970 ASUS. A friend told me this Galax HoF. After a few reviews, It has the most coolest temps on all 970's. And performance is better than G1 and Strix. I don't know why this card does not have many reviews on the internet. On witcher 3, Ultra settings, hairworks on. 1080p I get a solid 60fps. (locked it at 60fps) and the temps! 80% fan (so quiet!, you can't hear the fans cryin) 54c max gpu temp. Really happy with this card. Sorry I double click the card on part list, not going for SLI. Edited it

NZXT S340 - Easy cable management, looks so clean.... It's white FTW!

PSU - 650 was not available so no choice. But looks nice. Love the black cables.

That's all for now, for ssd, I'll have it next month after upgrading my keyboard and mouse. Look at that filthy keyboard and mouse, It's dying already lol.

Parts list says 2 970s... only 1 in the pics... waiting for it to ship? Also, some nice sleeved cables would really do this build some good. Even without them though, this thing looks awesome!

Double Clicked on the GPU selection list. My bad, updated it already though. Yeah I already have a contact on FTW Industries, (awesome mod group). Wanted some white sleeves with guide to look clean. Thanks man!

I love white :D Yeah I love this HOF card, Runs better than Strix 970 and g1 Gaming gigabyte 970. Although there's not much reviews on google. The Temps are awesome! 80% fan, you barely can't hear them running. Never failed me on witcher 3 ultra settings. solid 60fps. Hairworx on. (will try to benchmark if I had the time)

Got this from an online shop here in the Philippines.

Thanks!

Dod you buy those 970s from the galax store website? If so, how long did it take to arrive at your place and what state do you live in? +1

Get an SSD, awesome build, go to cable mod for some white cables for your PSU, I'm also going with a black and white build! The only problem is that I originally was going for a red and black 4790k build and got my MSI GTX 980 before all the other parts, and I recently changed the partslist to a white and black 5820k/H440 build, so once the HOF 980 Ti and the Gigabyte G1 Gaming 980 to come out, I'm gonna read reviews and benchmarks as well as how well each card generally over locks, than sell my 980 and get one of the Ti's. Anyways +1 and have a good time with the build.

Wow that will be a great build, can't wait for it. I already messaged a group who mods rigs, I hope to get reply this week for the white sleeves. Really satisfied with my build now, It never failed me on Witcher 3. Well on all games I'm satisfied with 60fps+. Thank you bro!

You honestly don't need an SSD in builds with these new operating systems, windows 8.1 boots in 10-30 seconds for me

True, but once you go an SSD... You'll see what all the hype is about and why they are almost a necessity in a build now - especially when you can get a 120g Samsung evo boot SSD for very cheap!

But an SSD like that isn't large enough to hold games, although im sure if it would it would stop me from having to wait so long for Skyrim to load a new room. Larger SSDs are way more expensive. It may probably just be me but i have nearly 250 gigabytes of steam games on my HDD.

What could it be an "almost necessity" for?

Nice build! I've been planning to something like this for a year now and coincidentally the names of your build is even similar to mine! :P (I'm calling mine FROST btw).

extra: your GPU is a beast! If the gpu had a price, your build would've jumped from $800 to $1100+ easily!

A SSD is by far needed and maybe OP doesn't have the money for one.

Well for Gaming and Photoshop use. I experience no lag anyway and the startup is fast. Needed to upgrade my monitor first. Then SSD :)
