Description

This is my first build since building a desktop with my dad back in the 90s.

I was under a wife induced budget and tried to keep it under 800. When I started thought I had a free copy of windows, so I without that cost I got pretty close to my goal.

I'm not a hardcore gamer so I skimped a little on the gpu. I was able to play Far Cry 3 last night on max settings without a problem, so the 7850 seems like it was a good buy. I debated between it and the 7950. The budget demanded the former.

I wanted an SSD for the fast boot time. I'm hate waiting for windows to boot or big programs to load. Ain't nobody got time for that.

I chose the 3570k because it overclocks well (I haven't had time yet as I finished the build on Saturday) and was a good deal at 189 + tax at my local microcenter. I almost went with the 4670k but then MBs were more expensive as well so it would have been even more. So far it seems like the 3570k is fast enough for me needs.

I'm very happy with the build's performance so far and pretty proud of it as it's my first build in 20+ years and my first solo.

Good job on the build.

I looked at picture 4's background and thought...'has he just left his baby on a bookcase while he builds a PC...lol'.

For the price, you did a fantastic job on your picks. Congrats man! I like the LEDs in your case. I'm a HUGE led person.

No complaints however you could've scored a bit cheaper RAM

Nice build for the price and you're right "ain't nobody got time for that"

Nice build although you could have done better with the PSU. The 720w version of your PSU had poor ripple suppression values which is important for overclocking. I would have stuck with seasonic, PCPC, XFX, or a higher end corsair like a tx, hx, or ax.

I thought your budget was 800, but the total shows 963 dollars.....

I said I tried to keep it under 800. Without the OS, which I had thought would be free, I ended at 875ish, which really isn't too bad.

How much would you give me for it? I overclocked it to 4.4ghz last night without a problem.
