Description

So about 2 years ago I loaned out my old Alienware Aurora (non-ALX) i7 960 to my buddy for server use, and not wanting to take it back without giving him a replacement I built him a Xeon PC with some spare parts I had: Windows 7, the 2TB HDD, the 6870 and the HAF-X case. So total cost to me at the time of building was only $405. Wish I could have spent more time with it as I suspect that Xeon would have done quite well in gaming if I had thrown in one of my 780Tis. Sorry I don't have more pictures, but I didn't have much time.

Wow. You are the broiest bro.

Not many people out there would give a more powerful PC in exchange for a weaker older one.

Kudos to you, man. +1

Well I really appreciate the "older" Alienwares, I've got an ALX 3930K wither a STRIX GTX 1060, gonna put a spare 390X STRIX in the older one. I've got a 2004 Alienware awaiting refurbishment also. I did use the i7 960 @4.1 Ghz with a GTX 780 in 2014, as far as gaming experience it was not perceptibly different than with that same 780 paired with my 4770K.

Love the 6870, I had mine for years before I upgraded to 970. +1

Wow, that GPU is a steal for the price you bought it!

Thats about market price for those. I'd rather have a 7850 for the same price or a 7870 for $50.
