Description

This was my first PC and I had a blast putting it together! The thrill of finding and researching all the right parts and finding the best deals was just too much fun. I hope you guys enjoy checking it out! This rig is primarily for gaming/daily use. Sorry if the photos are not the best I used my phone in poor lighting.

Case: First off believe it or not I'm not a huge Razer fan boy but when I saw the green and black theme of the NZXT H440 Razer edition, I knew what I wanted to do. This case was easy to work in even for a new guy like me and the aesthetics were great!

MOBO: I spent a lot of time researching motherboards and when I couldn't find the colors to match theme I really focused on specs and reviews. The Asus ROG maximus hero viii stood out and it has been a pleasure to work with thus far.

CPU: This was tough because really the 6600K would have been enough for gaming but I was already going big so I broke out the extra money and splurged on the 6700K. Its OC'd to 4.6 and stays nice and cool thanks to the AIO cooler.

RAM: Not much to say about this other than GSkill Ripjaw V's had great reviews and they have been running 3200 in XMP no problem.

Liquid Cooler: This was actually my first purchase on sale and the point of no return. Once this came in the build was officially green lighted. The Corsair H100I GTX has worked great and is keeping my cpu running at 29C idle and I've noticed only 60C at the highest running stress tests with CPU-Z.

SSD: I really wanted to move away from traditional HDD's for this build for speed and noise reasons. I know they are much cheaper with a lot more room but I'm not one to fill 1TB super fast so I will be good for a while with Mushkins Reactor 1TB. This thing works great and at $205 it was the best bang for the buck at the time. Bonus points for matching my theme.

GPU: I know, I know, I should have waited for 1080 right? Well my patience ran out and I saw the MSI 980ti for $530 and couldn't pass it up. It definitely clashes with the theme of this build but I can look past it thanks to the performance. It runs witcher 3 with ease and is very quiet so far. Very happy with this purchase. Maybe down the road I'll upgrade to 1080ti.

PSU: One thing echoed over everything else on this site.....never buy a cheap PSU lol. I went with the EVGA 850 P2 so you guys could be proud of me. I know I could have done fine with less but I like the wiggle room for future additions and at $109 it was a great deal!

Wi-Fi adapter: Not much to say here there was no way I was running a 100ft cord through the house so I bought this based on reviews and I've had little issues. Just download the drivers straight from the site to avoid headaches.

Monitor: I am drooling over this thing!! 27" 2560×1440p, 144Hz, 4ms gtg, IPS beast. All my games run great with this screen and look gorgeous. The 980ti would have been wasted on anything less!

Well that's it guys I plan on doing more custom work later with corsair fans and sleeved alchemy cables to fit the theme more, but for now I'm happy with the outcome. If you have any questions or input please comment. Thanks.

Did you have any problem with the network card? I have similar specs and the card would not work. Which driver did you use for it?

I had issues at first and had to download the latest driver from gigabytes website. Just make sure you type the exact model number into the search.
