Description

I built this with gaming in mind originally. I was on a tight budget so I was only able to get a 650 ti. This was terrible in Battlefield 3 and probably wouldn't be able to play any games once i get more monitors. I decided to get the best card on the market to avoid temptations so I upgraded to a 690 and a HX750. I know that the 7990 performs better most of the time but the difference is usually only a few FPS and in Battlefield 3 the 690 wins. In the future I might do more upgrades. Leave suggestions in the comments. And sorry about the terrible cable management but this case has nowhere to put the cables at all. I have been able to bump up the GPU to 1200 MHz but in the process sacrificing all quietness from the fan level i set it at. The new keyboard is amazing and the headset has me looking over my shoulder in well optimized games with the Dolby surround sound.

That one GPU is worth almost the same as my machine :( lol and It's half yours right now too lol. Nice build!

Nice. Should have gotten a better case but not my choice.

I agree. I hate the case but at the time of buying the build (this was an upgrade) I couldn't afford more. I was going for the NZXT Phantom 410 but then I dropped it to go from a 550 ti to a 650 ti.

Well the case keeps all of it together and that's what counts.

I wouldn't recommend the 410. The case is good overall but the side panel sicks. All you can see is your cpu fan and sticks of RAM. You can't enjoy looking at the sexy 690. I want to see my whole inside of my computer so i might mod my side panel so to make the window bigger.

Well like you said, get a better case and unless you are going to be doing video editing and gaming, you probably do not need 16 GB of Ram. You probably only need 8. But out of that, good build.

I understand with the cable management. I have a cooler master elite 430 and I can't route my cables anywhere.

That made me laugh.

"The GTX 650 wasn't really enough, so I just decided to, you know, drop a grand on a top-tier graphics card"

Mostly large amounts of cash for expensive ****. Though some items are VERY premium...Most are weak

What parts in particular do you think are weak? I now have a 750D so I can't see a weak point in the build other than the h60 which I plan to replace with a custom watercooling loop.

Ok build - though I probably would have gone with your original plan of SLI GTX 670 : http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/geforce_gtx_670_2_and_3way_sli_review,15.html

Knowing that they perform as good as a 690, used that saved $200+ and got a better case ;) none the less enjoy your monster machine hiding in that case >_< happy gaming.

EDIT: Sorry I didn't phrase my previous reply very well. Unfortunately I don't have anywhere to put an old case. In addition if I for some reason wanted another 690 I could put it in for quad sli. While if I wanted quad sli 670's then I would need a new motherboard and I don't plan on disassembling my whole machine anytime soon. Thanks for the tip though.

It was a 650 ti and with 3 monitors even the 660 ti would lag on ultra

"Intel Core i5-3570K" with a "EVGA GeForce GTX 690 4GB". Wut.

The i5 is completely fine. Right now you can run battlefield 3 with 2 cores and no hyperthreading with maybe 10 fps less than a quad core. Overall the i5 is fine.

Wow, for the price this is really swish.

Everything looks so sexy...but the case ruined it. The case is the hardest to upgrade since you have to take everything out and reinstall it all.

And? It only takes like 20 minutes to an hour max.

the case isnt even that bad? theres just no room behind that side panel to put cables. I have the old elite 430 and my cable management is pretty damn good, and honestly the new and old 430 look great, better than the storm scouts etc
