Description

So this was my first attempt at building a PC and i think it went pretty well except i am having a random freezing/crash issue...any ideas?

Made it mostly for gaming, but to handle regular everyday task as well

CPU: went with the 8350 cause i am hedging my bets on multi-threaded games becoming more prevalent with the release of the PS4 and XBOXOne...plus its cheaper than the 3570K. Waiting to overclock till i have the freezing fixed

Cooler: its what everyone has

MOB: Good price and seemingly good board, but then again with the freezing issues who knows

Ram: ram is ram, best price i could find with 9-9-9-27

Storage: good drive for cheap, eventually going to add SSD so not concerned of black vs blue

Video Card: For the price of $184 it seemed to good to pass up. Wanted to go with the 7870XT but it was another $40+

Case: love it, lots of room and good cable management...or so i think

Power Supply: went with 600W in anticipation of OC and hopefully going SLI in future.

Have flipped the PSU over since pictures and messed around a little more with the cables at the bottom. Still a bit of a mess down there but nothing i can do about it given the multi-connectors on everyone. Since they are tucked at the bottom they wont interfere with airflow anyway

Try clearing the CMOS

doing a startup repair

try reseating the GPU and RAM

When does it freeze and crash? certain applications? or just at random?

already tried both those

completely random, might be gaming, email, idling, anything

How does the RAM work for you? I have almost the same setup, except the RAM had 2 bad sticks in the pack O_o. Just getting opinions before I have to RMA orders for a month. BTW nice build and great case.

ran it through memtest and passed so, its good. based on my freezes i initially suspected the ram but its testing okay so idk

thanks!

If your RAM was that bad it wouldn't even post :)

Why do a lot of people purchase WiFi cards for desktop builds? Playing through Ethernet is so much better;just my two cents. Other than that, nice build so far and good cable management!

Some people would have to spend money on Power Line adapters, or run a 100 ft cable throughout the house :) Not always the best idea, nor the least expensive. And Playing 'online' is much faster, offline doesn't matter ;)

thanks and the wifi card is because im not near my router and nothing i can do to move it cause of how stupid this house is wired.

FreeFire is right and for $15 its not a big deal

How do you get the cpu stats that show your amount used?

In your picture there is a black box and it shows the cpu usage, i was wondering on how you get it

Windows 8. Always blame windows 8.

Haven't heard of anyone having random freeze issues with it though...ruling out the ram though does make me think its software not hardware

So is the freezing gone? If not, I would try different graphics drivers (even if they are older than the latest) and play around with memory timings in BIOS. You might even underclock your CPU just to rule out that you don't have one with a bad core. It could even be bad sectors on your hard drive. Run a Chkdsk that scans for both file system errors and bad sectors. Hopefully it's not your PSU. I really doubt it's your mobo.

i actually did find the culprit...i needed to turn up the LLC on my board from medium to high (wasnt making sense cause it was freezing when not under load, but did fix it)

How is that mouse? I saw it on Amazon for like ten bucks and thought about buying it just to have a backup.

i assume your talking the one in the pics, not the build sheet. Its great actually! very nice, especially for $10

Did you fix the freeze? what was the problem?

I just ordered that case, but im building a different set up, would definitely like to hear your input

Also what kind of gaming do you do?and how is it in game?
