Description

Primarily gaming, but also work and general personal use. Upgrading from my first PC gaming setup that I put together in late 2015 (i5-4590/R9-380). Looking to upgrade my full system to take advantage of a new 1080p 144hz monitor and potentially a 4k tv, but focusing on the 1080p 144hz experience.

1080p, 144hz gaming on high settings that would be adjusted depending on how demanding title is. I plan on purchasing a 4k tv in the near future so would like to take advantage of that display when I’m playing more detailed single player games, scaling settings accordingly.

I usually play LoL, Destiny 2, and Apex Legends but do enjoy playing single players such as Witcher 3 and GTA 5 and be able to run Cyberpunk when that comes out.

PC build process was really straight forward, only had an issue figuring out how to attach the CPU cooler bracket but manual/YouTube were helpful. Highly recommend Paul's Hardware series on how to build and setup a PC, was very easy to follow and helpful for a new builder.

Part Reviews

CPU

Seems great so far, no issues. Did not use stock cooler.

CPU Cooler

Bracket attaching to CPU was awkward to install, but overall was easy to install. Looks great in the case and is keeping temperatures pretty cool.

Motherboard

Great motormoard, super easy to navigate BIOS and install cables. Did have an issue of not being able to boot to BIOS immediately but fixed after 2 or 3 resets .. was probably user error ...

Memory

Looks good! Need to disable the G.Skill RAM from Task Manager to play Apex Legends though, receive error (Security Violation Detected (#0000000D) [hid.exe])

Storage

Super easy to install and fast, reddit posts suggested going with this drive over an Intel 660p as QLC tends to get slower when nearing storage capacity and MLC drives being a better option.

Storage

On sale at BestBuy, needed more storage.

Video Card

Quiet and haven't had any issues.

Power Supply

Came with all cables and bags to store extra cables/parts in!

Nice PC build. Your specs are really good so I would recommend you play at 2560x1440 144hz to get the best use. You would easily get frames around 110fps at high settings all games. :)

like that other guy said you're bottlenecking your GPU with a 1080p monitor

Did you manage to get your ram to 3200? It's not listed as compatible on the Tomahawk Max qvl.
