Description

This is my second build, I built a 6700k/GTX 1080 machine a couple of years ago. I had originally planned to build this one around a 8700k, 1080 Ti, and a 4k monitor; but last minute sales on the 2700X and the Acer Predator changed my mind.

I feel like my price/performance ratio on this build is excellent. After initial setup/driver installation I hopped right in to a game of PUBG. I could immediately tell that my frames were head and shoulders above where I was on the old machine. After overclocking, the performance is insane. You can see the results here: http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/10522940.

If I could change anything, I would probably opt to spend a few extra bucks for 3600 Mhz memory. The Ryzen seems like it has some extra performance to be gained if I was able to throttle up the memory a little further.

I feel like this build will keep me at peak performance for at least another couple years. I will probably upgrade to the new generation RTX GPU when they become widely available sometime next year.

Don't fash yourself over the memory. Yes, you might have been able to hit higher speeds, but it wouldn't have been a few bucks, it would have been double the price if not more, and all for a few percentage points in real life. (Of course if you are chasing a specific number, that's different; I know what that is like...)

Nice build.

Nah You good. You don't have and RGB PSU, SSD, 24-pin, or 8-pin cable lol. In 2018, that level of RGB is what counts as normal.

Cool build.

The $/perfomace efficiency is very good!

Funny how it says: "Base clock 4.2 GHz, turbo 4.15 GHz (avg)" on the userbench website xD

It's great! I had a G502 previously. The Dark Core feels pretty similar.

How loud are the coolermaster fan's? I heared a lot of different things about them.

In general they're not too loud. If i'm doing something quiet like photo editing I might notice them a bit; but when I'm in a game either with the speakers or headset on, I never notice them.

How well does the ml240r cool the 2700x? I'm sure it could cool my 2600x just fine

How do you like the ML240R cpu cooler? I'm between that model and the L model, wasn't sure if the R is worth the extra $$

If I'd suggest anything, it'd be for you to flip the sides of the fans on your AIO. Those are fancy fans, SHOW THEM OFF!!
