Description

I built this computer as my primary PC for both productivity and gaining. My goal was to build a PC with a white theme to match the decor of my office that could handle video editing, encoding, AutoCad and gaming in 1440p and stay under a $2,000 budget.

I have been thrilled with the results. The 7700K is a great processor for the price and mine overclocked to 5ghz without a problem. The Asus 1070 matched the theme perfectly and has been able to handle any game I have tried at 1440p.

I made the backplates for the GPU and SSD's out of laser cut acrylic.

Damn. If the GPU was a HOF 1070 this would be the perfect white build. But nonetheless still damn good.

Man I would love to have a backplate like that! Are you willing to make one and sell it? I have the same GPU. Also what type of cable combs are those? Are those the type where you have to take the wires out of the connectors to put them on? Great build man. I too love the mostly white. My build is currently tuxedo but I am working to make it more white. Awesome job on your build nonetheless.

Edit: Sorry not the same GPU, I have a 1060 6gb but its similar in looks though!

Thanks. Glad you like it. A friend of mine helped me make them on his laser cutter. If you are interested in purchasing one I would need the exact dimensions of your card to make sure it is the same as mine. Send me a private message and I can see what I can do for you.

Those custom backplates! They make it. I want them for my own but yet to find any white TUF ones ljke on customgtp's build. This build has pretty much put me over the edge to hunt them down now or get them made for me.

Glad you like them. I made them myself on my friends laser cutter. Its a two layer design, the bottom layer is silver and the top layer is white. We are actually working on a youtube video about how we made them. We have been talking about selling some so if you are interested in purchasing some send me a private message and I can see if it is something I could do for you.

Oh wow, definitely on the hunt for some, but I'd make it a challenge for you for sure I'm very fussy :P
PROJECT WINTER WAR is my current build, I'd be looking for something to cover the SSD alignment vertically and the hard disk also aligned vertical and it would have to ship to Finland! So after shipping and import tax the prices would have to be very competitive.

Did you find a good price on that gpu? I heard that because of cryptocurrency mining people were selling their gtx 1060s and rx 480s and upgrading to 1070s and because of the demand for 1070s I was told that the price had gone up.

  • 1 point

maybe he bought it before the mining craze.

  • 1 point

Yes, that is a possibility he might've just been waiting for required parts for the build but only he can tell us when he bought his gpu.

I actually purchased this card a few months ago from newegg before the mining craze started. I'm glad i did. I can't believe how hard it is to find a 1070 for a good price right now!

There are not many things you can do during this time, all I was told to do if I wanted a 1060 or 1070 at a good price was to wait it out until the mining craze had stopped and hope the prices had come down to a reasonable price.

how are the thermals/noise for the asus gpu? the cooler on my asus dual card is very loud under load so ive steered clear of their versions of other cards for upgrades. but maybe its just the 480 series.

i love your commitment. but you should have included rgb somewhere in your name since you have a hue+, a kraken, and rgb fans. also what interface is that on your desk?

  • 2 points

Thanks. Your right about the rgb. I like having the flexibility to change the color scheme without having to change any components. The audio interface is a scarlett focusrite 2i2. I chose it because it is one of the few interfaces out there with separate speaker and headphone volumes.

Wow awesome build!!!! Two question, hows the air flow in the case and what temps is your cpu running at

  • 1 point

I have not had any problems with the airflow of the case. The CPU temp at idle is about 31C. Under full load the CPU seems to max out about 85C.

Did you have to buy the NZXT Internal USB Hub for the RGB fans and the Hue+? I've been hearing you needed it for the motherboard.

Does using the hue, kraken and front panel usb 2.0 headers require three usb 2.0 headers on the motherboard? how did you do it

  • 1 point

Good catch. I actually don't have the from panel usb2 connected. I find the 2 usb3 ports are enough. I could have used an internal usb hub but didn't see any reason to need 4 front panel usb connectors.

hi, I love this design and the choice of all-white is perfect. I'm wondering, since you've gone for a single colour (and probably keep it always white), do you need the NZXT Hue+ LED controller in this build? I'm looking to build a similar PC to yours, and wonder if I will need this controller or if I can turn all my lights white without?

Making a ryzen 5 2600 build very similar to this but with the H500i. Glad I found this, lets me see a very similar setup. Though I'll be using a 1TB M.2(high cost but takes less room) and Corsair RGB Ram. Not a fan of rainbow setups but man do I love simple/clean rgb setups. I.e, single or 2 colors. +1!
