Description

So this is my first build, I welcome advice and critique. My goal is to eventually SLI and either do 4k or VR. I know if I was smart I would have waited a few more months but I broke down one day and just had to build.

These were not my ideal parts but when I went to the store a theme arose with the case I could find (the floor model was all that was left) I knew I wanted an understated build in mainly black and silver but I really like how this turned out.

Please let me know how I can improve or optimize my build, I already plan on getting a more robust power supply, I'd also like to overclock the the CPU and GPU but haven't had much success thus far.

Cheers

Sweet build, I'm looking to also build this same machine, minus the tower and the ssd you chose, however I'm going for the little brother of the 980 and sticking with my 970 as it is still very useful and mighty. Have you ran into any problems or has it been running nicely for you?

Surprisingly I've had zero problems, it's been running great.

Having trouble over locking the cpu but that's most likely because I don't know what I'm doing.

I'm loving this case. I so tempted to build another pc for myself with a black s340 just for the hell of it

Ha! I love that shot of the shopping cart. I wish I had a store around here where I could literally throw my parts into a cart like that and ride up to a register. I'm looking at putting together a very similar build in the coming weeks. Everything is telling me to go 970 over 980 and it is making me crazy.

I feel the same about the 970. It just makes more sense. But that 980 tho...

I have decided that for the time being, I am staying at 1080p. That ends my 980/970 debate. Plus the evga 970 comes with a free backplate on newegg! haha

It was a lot of fun but stressful because I had to work with my limited knowledge and their limited stock. I just went 980 overclocked because the GPU is the most important part. I have heard there is not much difference though and you'd save money.

BEAUTIFUL BUILD! The only thing I would add is a mechanical hard drive (HDD) for mass storage. But other than that, nice build! +1

Thank you! I'll add another ssd (couldnt afford it), then keep replacing them with bigger ones as the price goes down. I don't really need mass storage on the machine as I have a few terabytes of network attached storage for media and such.

Beautiful build! Great parts and great aesthetics. I've been thinking of getting that case myself.

The case is great and made for an easy build with very little cable management required. No optical drive options but I prefer the clean front.
