Description

After much research and scavenging for deals I finally completed my first build.

Steps I took:

  • I sold my PS4 with 10 games for $400 + $100 I asked my parents for. My budget was pretty much based on that.
  • Bought my RX 480. (From jet.com for $148)
  • Bought the SSD and Ram (Both from jet.com together for $123.50)
  • Bought the Node 202 with built in PSU. (from eBay for $90)
  • Then after weeks of waiting for the Pentium G4560 to be released, I finally bought it with the Motherboard. (Both from jet.com with Triple15 coupon. Together they were $153)
  • Bought the cheapest Mechanical Keyboard. (From Amazon for $20)

Notes

  • My friend built a PC with a much larger case and said he had a lot of issues, so naturally I got pretty nervous, however I had little to 0 issues with this PC.

  • The one issue I did have is the IO shield being a bit weird to install.

Benchmarks

  • Rainbow Six Siege (Max Settings)
  • +80 fps

  • Warframe (Max Settings)

  • +280 fps

  • H1Z1 (Max Settings)

  • +75 fps

  • League of Legends (Max Settings)

  • +200 fps

  • Rocket League (Max Settings)

  • +180 fps

  • Battlerite (Max Settings)

  • +180 fps

Will be testing more games in the future.

Part Reviews

CPU

Great duel core CPU with hyperthreading. It's been running my PC just fine for the past few days.

Would recommend.

Storage

12 second boot, very happy.

Video Card

I can run pretty much any game I like at 60fps 1080p high settings. Plus I got it at a massive discount

Case

If you can afford to spend a bit of extra money, I would suggest buying a modular PSU. Building in this thing was pretty hard but still doable.

Monitor

The monitor looks beautiful with the non-bezel design & I've not found any issues with it yet.

Bought it for $82 at bestbuy.

Nice build! I am getting a g4560 in a couple of days and hopefully it will match my RX 470 well. If I wanted a mini-itx PC, this is how I would do it!

Connor2943 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

Nice! I'm going to do a mini-itx with the same gpu and cpu!

Venenosa 3 points 9 months ago

First build with the new budget king! Just a few months ago I was planning to make a build using the i3 6100, but that has changed. This is pretty much my exact build, good on you for catching those 16gb ram on sale, I missed out on those :( But srsly great budget build, can you mention the games you've played with the fps u getting?

Insertnamehere... 1 point 9 months ago

I was as well going to use the i3 6100 until the G4560 came out.

FIRST BUILD AND FIRST COMMENT WITH THE BUDGET KING PENTIUM G4560!!!

Seriously though, nice build. +1

Scuttles submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Thanks!

Pawacorn 2 Builds 1 point 9 months ago

No problem! Are you going to add any 120mm fans for the graphics card chamber?

Scuttles submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

In the future I might. I don't see myself playing the most graphically intensive games though.

aprofile 3 Builds 2 points 9 months ago

Is this used for LAN parties or just small form factor gaming?

Scuttles submitter 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

Small form gaming. Don't really like big PCs.

aprofile 3 Builds 2 points 9 months ago

Fair enough

Flambian 2 points 9 months ago

The build is really only ~$520 beause all of those parts were on sale; 4560 is more expensive now amd the cheapest 480 is 180 bucks and other stuff like that. My build uses similar yet inferior parts, yet yours is cheaper (barely).

Scuttles submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

You can actually get most of these parts for the same or lower prices. I used jet.com (Triple15 coupon code) & eBay. You can actually get the rx480 for around $138. Check r/buildapcsales

fastcjgt3 1 point 9 months ago

also buying gpu's used is also good because you can save money and usually they're in good condition and run well.

Flambian 1 point 9 months ago

True.

gorkti200 2 Builds 2 points 9 months ago

Very nice build! Yes building with that PSU in that tiny case is difficult, I just built myself an HTPC in it. Great way to save money on case+PSU though. Happy to see the G4560 showing up in a budget gaming rig and performing awesomely, as we all expected it should. Well done!

LastSecondClutch 1 point 9 months ago

Your ram actually does run at 3000 Mhz, but your motherboard caps out at 2400. :) Nice build overall, although I would have went with a better quality keyboard if I wanted mechanical or just bought a cheap 20 dollar keyboard+mouse combo. That cpu might bottleneck the 480 in cpu-intensive games, but nothing too bad I would say. You can always upgrade down the road to an i5 7400 or something like that.

Scuttles submitter 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago
  • No the ram I bought isn't on the website. Here is a picture http://imgur.com/a/lhXcF
  • EDIT: Yeah, the build is made to be upgradable.
LastSecondClutch 1 point 9 months ago

Oh, never mind then, sorry.

Scuttles submitter 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

np and yeah the keyboard was kind of a last second idea. I might still return it.

LastSecondClutch 2 points 9 months ago

I see what you did there.

aracnaphobia 1 Build 1 point 4 months ago

Lol

AnJello 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Nice build! I'm definitely going to be getting the G4560 as well, it's a beast for the price!

Scuttles submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Yeah it really is.

aprofile 3 Builds 1 point 9 months ago

This comments is basically g4560 master race :)

AverageGangMember 1 point 9 months ago

This is performance equal to used parts, but for new! Great finds my dude!

Scuttles submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Thank you :)

ponzored 1 point 9 months ago

Nice build. Good decision to sell your PS4.

Scuttles submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

yep, thanks

fastcjgt3 1 point 9 months ago

this is why pc is master race! :D

Bucks25ty 1 point 9 months ago

Im really interested in getting a similar build of a pc, what has your performance in games at 1080p been like ? im interested in building a pc for overwatch, csgo and many more games

Scuttles submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Haven't played many games, here is a list of them all.

Rainbow six siege (max settings) 90fps H1z1 (max settings) 85fps League of legends (max settings) 300fps

Sry these are all I have tried. Search pentium g4560 with rx480 benchmarks on YouTube.

aerophoenix1 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Great Build! I'm considering getting the G4560 and pairing it with the R7 350 for League and Overwatch Specifically (I want to get into recording videos for it so naturally I already have a capture card and laptop laying around) Have you tried using Adobe Premier or anything equivelent? I hear that the Hyperthreading on the CPU will not assist in this and similar programs. Btw, I love the Case :)

Scuttles submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

I have not, is it like photoshop? And thanks I also love the case :)

kees1233 1 point 9 months ago

Hey man pretty solid build. I am going to build a pc with a g4560 too and i was planning on pairing it with a rx 470 but after ive looked at the rx 480 i realised they are only 3 euros more in my country. And i made a account just to ask this. What are your exact settings on h1z1 just everything at max even shadows? and the minimum fps on h1z1.

Scuttles submitter 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

Yep everything max, it hasn't dipped under 60fps. Make sure to buy fans though. The rx480 gets really hot.

kees1233 1 point 9 months ago

Holy **** i know what i am getting. Ty for helping me out. Btw are 2 fans enough? one in the back and one in the front:)

Scuttles submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

wouldn't know, don't have any.

SLOWION 5 Builds 1 point 9 months ago

You should invest in a nice mouse (and mouse pad) when you can, it will improve your aim in those shooters you play. Something like a Nixeus Revel, Dream Machines DM1 Pro S or even the Logitech G102 would suffice

sampatino23 1 point 8 months ago

wat is the perfomance like on cities on h1z1?

Scuttles submitter 1 Build 1 point 8 months ago

Above 60. However, it drops significantly in the woods, about 50-60 fps. Sucks, but if I drop settings it stays above 60 in the woods.

tydowntyty 3 Builds 1 point 8 months ago

Good choice on the SSD! They are cheap and fast!

RDowns 1 point 8 months ago

Does the 4560 really work that well? wow!

brazilianboy_8 1 point 8 months ago

pretty sick, almost exactly what I'm getting. thanks, nice build!

GalihCarlos 1 point 7 months ago

How about the os?

Scuttles submitter 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

windows trial

bigtna77 1 point 7 months ago

how efficient will you say the g4560 is, for a budget, will you say it's very gOOD.

Scuttles submitter 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

I don't really have anything to compare it with, as this is my first pc. However, I think it's really amazing. No issues and it's really fast. So yeah it's very gOOD.

bigtna77 1 point 7 months ago

Thank you very much, however, can you run games like call of duty black ops 3 or overwatch, 1080p max settings with at least 40fps?

Scuttles submitter 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

yes definitely! you can get over 100fps on overwatch and over 60 on black ops 3.

bigtna77 1 point 7 months ago

Wow, I didn't expect that. Anyways thanks for the information. But if I need any more help, should I reach you on your PCPP account? Because my build is really going to resemble yours.

Scuttles submitter 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

yeah sure np

Bailey-stewart 1 point 7 months ago

Hey, what are the temps on the 480 ?

Scuttles submitter 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

+80c. With fans at 80 speed(very loud) it gets to about 70c

Minerfantasyy 1 point 6 months ago

Heres a future proof Xbox Scorpio killer

Pixal 1 Build 1 point 6 months ago

Another warframe play

noice

+1 for dat

P.S I played the Six Siege beta, but forgot my account credentials, RIP

Scuttles submitter 1 Build 1 point 6 months ago

thanks

timblegoorn 1 point 6 months ago

I'll be doing a Node 202 build soon too, but just was wondering, what are your temps like under load?

Scuttles submitter 1 Build 1 point 6 months ago

bad, I recommend fans. However, if you're like me and don't mind the noise of your stock fans at full speed then go for it.

temps if fans are pretty quiet: gpu: +85c when gaming, cpu: +65c temps with fans on full load: gpu +65c when gaming, cpu: +40c

Whitelava004 1 point 4 months ago

Welcome to the PC master race friend! Just 3 months ago, I sold a bunch of my old games and other stuff, and used some of my money to buy an awesome gaming machine! Looks like we are both newbies!

AddLantis 1 point 4 months ago

Pretty nice build actually. I want to build something like that, mostly for web developing. Maybe w/o videocard but definitely with this monitor(actually with two). Your desk looks realy clean thanksfuly to monitor on wall. Can you describe how do you do that, because, as i know, this monitor doesn`t have a VESA mounting??

Scuttles submitter 1 Build 1 point 4 months ago

I simply took off the back panel with a flat-head screwdriver then drilled holes that matched the vesa monitor, after all that I placed the screws on the inside then attached the monitor arm so I could tighten it.

Also since my monitors back panel is curved I had to use these little black raisers that came with the monitor arm. Here is a pic. http://imgur.com/a/2HXbp

AddLantis 1 point 4 months ago

So, as i understand, monitor holded by four screws attached right to back panel and nothing else inside the monitor?

Scuttles submitter 1 Build 1 point 4 months ago

yep, there are a few videos online if your really interested.

AddLantis 1 point 4 months ago

Thank you very much for reply. Appreciate it.

Sgtqman19 1 Build 1 point 3 months ago

Welcome to the PC world! So glad to see a Console player take the best step into PC gaming by going the budget route for almost the same money as a Console. And already flooded with awesome free to play games.

ItsJustTurtles 1 point 5 days ago

and now that pc would cost $956.19 (with a 580 duel only change to it)

Scuttles submitter 1 Build 3 points 9 months ago

I guess, but I got the rx480 at a lower price than the 470. (Also don't plan on playing really graphically intensive games)

Thanks for info though.

aerophoenix1 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

That isn't the case however, the Pentium CPU actually performs extremely similarly to the i3-6100, which does not bottleneck the GPU (other than VR applications).
