Description

This build was a huge leap for me upgrading from playing on an almost five year old laptop that wasn't anything special when I bought it (Pentium with integrated graphics and 2 GB of RAM isn't all that great.) I'm glad I upgraded.

Update: Obtained the Sennheiser Game Zero Headset. Everything works great, I love the sound quality.

Part Reviews

CPU

The Skylake seems to be a little pricy ATM, but I feel it's still a solid choice for a CPU. Works great and gives the performance I want.

CPU Cooler

The Cryorig H5 is easy to install and keeps my CPU running cool. It seems to be reasonably priced for it's performance.

Thermal Compound

Well-performing thermal-paste. Nothing special to really note.

Motherboard

This motherboard has all the features I could want and it works great, I love it and it's design.

Memory

It's RAM, it works fine and the red coloring looks great with my build.

Storage

I love the performance the SSD gives me for load times and boot times for my computer. 250 GB is a nice amount to put a decent amount of games on.

Storage

Works fine, I didn't have any problems with it.

Video Card

The GTX 970 is a beast, and I love the power it provides when I game. This card will hopefully last a good while before I even consider a graphical upgrade.

Case

Everything installed easily, and it seems to be a good mix of a quiet enviroment and good airflow. I love looking at my parts through the side window.

Power Supply

Very good reliable power supply. It's manufacturing is superb and I love the modular design in particular.

Optical Drive

Does what you expect it to do. Nothing really special, I use it on occasion.

Operating System

Windows 7 is my favorite OS on the market. I will probably take the free upgrade offer to Windows 10, but Windows 7 will always be the best(as far as Windows goes anyways).

Wireless Network Adapter

Works fine as far as I can tell. Easy to install and use, and my internet speeds seem to be alright.

Monitor

I love 144hz, 1ms response time, and 1080p when I'm gaming. This monitor is amazing, and even going back to my laptop momentarily left me homesick of my desktop. It's a little pricey to get all this for your rig, but I don't regret the decision.

Headphones

Sound quality and mic are great, no complaints.
