Description

With the help of my brother I built a pretty nice gaming pc. Because wire management is important 95% of all my wires are in the back of the case.

My brothers completed build: Tell him i sent you XD

Please, get it off the carpet. Carpet isn't friendly to computers, especially if one intends to add-in anything else within their PC. Also, how much did it cost for this to be built? Thank your brother for the help, I know I would if I had a brother who was willing to help me out which such things.

It actually isn't sitting directly on the carpet. The case raises it off the ground a little so there is room and airflow. Also I did thank my brother greatly. With the rebates it ended up at a total of $570

That's good at least. I couldn't tell with the photo on the carpet. Just want it to be safe is all. And that's good to hear. :)

Nice work with the rebates since that's a good price you got for this computer. Enjoy it!

  • Looks like you updated photos. Nice, thank you for the update! Looks good.

Thanks! In the description I linked my brothers build, why not give it a look. Thank you for your Constructive criticism.

OK, I'll give it a look. :)

And no problem, sorry if I sounded like a freak giving you a hard time. I rather see a PC safe then regrets. I guess my paranoid speaks out of my past when I had zero experience with computers and learned the hard way. Then again I was young and stupid. I'm not saying you of course, just want the best for you. Enjoy your new computer!

You seem to be forgetting that the PSU fan is facing upward, not down toward the carpet.

Um... OK? I never saw the PSU's fan as an issue. The carpet can be. So no, I didn't forget where the PSU is facing. Something like wood or tile is better versus carpet. Static is always a possibility but that's their own risk.

Static isn't a possibility considering that the case doesn't short out the motherboard if put together correctly. The only reason people say not to place it on carpet is so that the PSU fan can breathe through the bottom of the case. If static were the reason, then it would be a recommended practice never to touch your PC case when you're on carpet.

Even if i did set the PSU upside down it still is able to breathe the case is made so when sitting flat entire bottom can breathe

I am not talking about your build in particular, I'm saying the one and only reason not to place a case on carpet is for the PSU to breathe. Also, why not have it facing down? I don't see the advantage to have it facing up.

Hm, yes I know about the PSU situation. I never said that was the issue. I understand on what you are saying about the carpet being a dust ball creator hence people would recommend to keep the PC fan facing away if that was on carpet. We know this also when we recommended the PSU facing towards the bottom of the case if it's on wood or tile unless someone doesn't feel comfortable due to no filter is in between. It doesn't mean you could accidently build up static on the carpet if one touches their PC when it comes to walking on carpet.

It gets pretty dusty anyway. I regularly clean the fans.

No, the problem isn't that it's a dust ball creator, the problem is that case feet can sometimes sink far enough into the carpet so that the PSU can't breathe through the bottom. For that last sentence, I don't understand what you mean. I'm saying that static has nothing to do with the case sitting on the carpet. The only times you have to worry about static is when you either messed up PC installation or if you're working in the PC without protection.

The case raises it off the ground a fair amount.

The case does not raise it enough. Just get a piece of plastic or wood and put it under it.

I am eventually getting a mat for it.

Actually the ocd in me hated the color as well, so I got them as close as I could with one being old and the other not having enough color settings to please me. So it's a little better now. I will update the pic when I get the chance
