Description

This is my first build. I wanted to build something powerful enough for casual gaming without making me go bankrupt, hence the name. In the end I am very surprised at the performance of this build, and I feel that I went the right route by starting with lower end parts and building up over time. My wallet sure appreciates it. I did cut corners in a lot of places but I am pretty happy with the outcome. Also I know my desk is a coffee table. I am poor. I am also sorry for the crap pictures. I originally had better pictures of the whole building process but they got deleted off my phone.

Part Reviews

CPU

Amazingly fast for an i3. I couldn't afford an i5 or i7 but this thing has chewed through every game and program I have thrown at it. Very impressed with Intel and the Skylake architecture.

Motherboard

One of the cheapest Skylake boards. Amazing features for the price and it works. Skylake board? PCI Express 3.0? Decent audio? $60!? Sold.

Memory

It's RAM. It's DDR4. It's fast. It looks cool.

Storage

Amazing SSD for your Windows installation. Some people ***** about it not being fast enough but my PC boots in like 5 seconds and my transfer speeds are nothing to cry over. Great for the price.

Storage

Great size. Decent speeds. Amazing price.

Video Card

I love this card. When everyone says it is the best budget video card out there, they are not kidding. This thing has been killing any game I throw at it. I have been getting right around 60FPS in almost all games I play on it. At 1080p. The lowest I have had to go is medium settings, but most games run fine at High-Ultra. Mind blowing performance for $120.

Case

Decent case. But cable management is not that great. This was the part of my build that I cheeped out on but it was not the end of the world. The only problem I had was putting 2 storage devices in the case. It advertises that you can install two 3.5" drives on the swinging hard drive bay, but I could only fit one. Spent 2 hours trying to figure this out with no luck. I ended up mounting my SSD with the 3.5" extender in the expansion bay. But for $30, I can't complain.

Power Supply

It works. It's cheap. No problems.

Operating System

I was not to fond of this OS at first but it has really grown on me.

Monitor

Amazing monitor for the price. The IPS Panel is perfect out of the box. I have not had to change a single setting and the color reproduction in gaming, photos, and movies is perfect. I am very satisfied with the quality since I only spent $100.

Keyboard

I have had this keyboard for about 2 years now and it still works perfect. I love the compact size and the RGB. But the best part is the Cherry MX Red switches. Perfect input times with no delay at all and they feel great.

Mouse

Decent mouse. I like that it is a palm grip. The only thing that blows is SteelSeries software. The DPI setting in the software sucks because it only lets you select predetermined DPI increments.

With shipping and tax (on some sites), that **** is going to be way more. Also that monitor blows ****. It has no tilt or movement whatsoever. I looked at one at best buy last week. GTX 960 4GB is no longer worth it. No SSD.

Nice try

lorenzose 3 points 26 months ago

So savage!

Iceman320 1 Build 1 point 26 months ago

Harsh realities where older hardware is still just as good (and cheaper)

camdaman 2 points 26 months ago

Windows license for $15 ???????? what did u do

Raratah submitter 2 Builds 2 points 26 months ago

I bought a Windows 8 Key off reddit for $15 and it activated Windows 10 just fine.

TriFlixFilms 2 points 26 months ago

My dad bought a PC with similar specs + Monitor + Mouse/Keyboard for $1000. So I'd say you did a pretty darn good job :)

TedTheOperator 2 points 26 months ago

This is very near my build...

EagleByte 1 Build 2 points 6 months ago

Doesn't really seem minimum wage...

PC_Master_Race_Noob 1 Build 1 point 26 months ago

I have the same keyboard. What do think of it?

Raratah submitter 2 Builds 1 point 26 months ago

I got it for the compact size and the Cherry MX Red switches. I love the feel of the keys and how it only takes a little bit of pressure to hit a key with little to no input lag. I love the hell out of it.

PC_Master_Race_Noob 1 Build 1 point 26 months ago

Yeah, I have a pretty average sized office desk so my 24" monitor and 32" tv + mouse and keyboard take up all the room haha. So I needed a smaller keyboard without compromising. Thus I went with the K65. I really like the Red Switches and the RGBness.

minionslayer23 1 point 26 months ago

The wallpaper tho

M_CERECERES_X6 1 point 26 months ago

Nice buuld. Includes ssd too. Also plenty of cpu to upgrade that graphics card in the future. Thats my kind of build.

cliff_dog 1 point 26 months ago

Nice build using it as a template for mine, what kind of games did you play on it

Raratah submitter 2 Builds 1 point 26 months ago

Farcry series, GTA V, CSGO, Fallout series, Overwatch, Dark Souls, and other ****.

Mr_Majestic 1 point 26 months ago

Great build but 1 complaint. ITS ON CARPET THE STATIC AHH

breakerion 2 Builds 1 point 26 months ago

There is no joy to bring you down, but that budget is shocking for me, I used less than US$850 and got an i5 and a Gtx950, I don't understand that part :/ now in the positive side...you have a better mech keyboard, headset and case than me, cheers for the build and welcome to PcMasterRace it will only improve from now on

Raratah submitter 2 Builds 2 points 26 months ago

Forgot to insert the custom prices. I already had the mouse and keyboard before building this. I also wanted a decent IPS monitor and a nice headset, so I picked those over a better CPU and I plan on upgrading in the future. But you would be surprised how well the 6100 preforms.

breakerion 2 Builds 1 point 25 months ago

CHeers! then, I don't doubt the 6100 performance, godspeed and enjoy thumbsup

lorenzose 1 point 26 months ago

That cable management! Up you go!

convertedconsolegamer_92 2 Builds 1 point 26 months ago

Iron_Knickers 1 Build 0 points 26 months ago

I love the build.

I love cheaper builds because the law of diminishing returns hits hard when you go high end.

For $600 dollars you get a build that does 70% of what my build does, (which costs ~$1200)

(Of course, I didn't factor in my $200 monitor, $30 mouse, as well as some other things that probably cost me an extra $50)

(My build might as well be $1600)

lilrow420 0 points 26 months ago

Change the GTX 750 ti to the Superclocked version

Raratah submitter 2 Builds 1 point 26 months ago

It is the SC version.....

lilrow420 1 point 26 months ago

Oh it just said 750 TI
