Description

This set of pictures shows the fx6300 and old mobo.

I currently use this build for work and gaming. I have not dedicated it to mining like the seller i bought it from, just to clarify. This is a great gaming computer, and i don't know about mining.

Bought 75% of the parts from a guy who had poor luck in litecoin mining. when i arrived at his house, 7950's were strewn in every direction, with some mining rigs around. He gave me an entire rig, but i eventually replaced the fx6300 and mobo for 4690k and Gigabyte z97 sli. Replaced stock cooler with seidon 120v from my old rig. I even got the 4690k and mobo pretty cheap because microcenter offers crazy low deals.

In total I payed:

450$ for the miner rig (BTW he had only been mining on the hardware for less than a year or so, so almost new)

281.73$ for new mobo and cpu

140$ for Samsung s24d590l 24 monitor

Total:

~871.73.

Overall it's really nice to upgrade from a fx4130 and 7770. The difference is night and day. Gaming-wise, I used to barely get 40fps on anything set to Low.

Now, i can just set the game to ultra preset and bask in the glory :)

Heh, one man's folly is another mans fortune. Where did you find the deal, cl? Yeah, one year ago was a bit late on the litecoin train. 7950's are nice cards, have fun!

Thanks! I did get it from craigslist. I had been scouring for a couple weeks, and had seen a couple of similar deals. However, this one seemed to be the most reliable, since the other ones didn't have any pictures posted. Craigslist is a great resource for parts, but obviously, there is some need of caution, since you don't know who you're really buying from.

i see you put the lamp in the foreground bc it's so sexy xP. good idea though for taking pics of the inside. Looks great! You should include the lamp in the parts list too hahaha.

Yeah it was night time, so that was the only thing i had to capture the inside successfully. But you're right it might as well be in the list since i have used it on all my builds. Thanks! :)

You're going to get way downvoted for spamming on someone's build. If you really want opinions on your list, post it in Part List Opinions Wanted.

2 Questions:

  1. Do you insist on using the NZXT S340 case?

  2. Why did you pick that particular power supply?

That PSU is only 10$ more for being fully modular and Gold rated, but has 100w less than its cheaper counterpart. At least here in Canada.

if it is a gaming rig, I would change the fx 8350 for a intel i5-4460 for only 5 $ more. The much better single threaded performance will really benefit you

i have already upgraded to 4690k. that was the first thing i did, since i felt the 6300 was going to bottleneck the 7950s. thanks though
