Description

This computer was built to simply play games, light browsing and to watch LoveFilm / Netflix.

The build took me 2 days (long story), and I also had a faulty Hard Drive (WD Blue 1TB).

The noise is bearable, but i am unable to reduce the speed of the fans as the OC Guru doesn't seem to work

Don't really know what else to say, so feel free to ask questions if you like.

Nice build! The power supply is a bit overkill at the moment but trust me, a few years down the line you will need it even more and you will be quite happy that you got some extra headroom.

Get an aftermarket cooler and OC that FX 8350. It's really easy and you will get some pretty impressive performance.

Thank you Bro, I got the PSU simply because of the warranty; 7 years sounds better than 5 years I suppose.

Yeah I'm going to get an aftermarket cooler pretty soon, but I'm not sure if i'll overclock it just yet :)

how loud is the 290?

You can barely hear it. It's my Cpu fan that's noisy. Just remember that my case isn't exactly closed, so I wouldn't hear anything in a traditional case.

Sorry for the late reply

It doesn't, but the Cpu fan gets loud whenever you begin to play a game, so I need to invest in a cm 212

Hey man, how has this build been for you? What games do you play?

Hey, sorry for the Late reply, my graphics card was damaged beyond repair and had to wait for a replacement, which happened to get replaced for a R9 290x.

Anyway, the build has been pretty cool,no real issues apart from the GPU. If there were a few things I'd change it would have to be the case and/or fans.

The case is basically a plastic box with no real enclosure, great for airflow but poor for sound dampening. So because of this, you can hear the noisy case fans when they are running at full rpm, as well as the CPU heat sink, which is terrible on it's own. I'd advise you to get another case (if possible), or get yourself a CM Hyper212 and keep the fans running on silent through the BIOS.

Anything else you want to know? BTW you can get windows 8.1 pro (the full edition) through windows for £49.99 if you are a student (or know one). Don't listen to what people say....Some people just don't like change.

It's always cool to see this case.

Some constructive criticism:

  • Overpaid for PSU

  • Could've bought an 8320 and overclocked it to the same speed as an 8350

  • Why Win8 Pro?

  • Definitely buy an aftermarket cooler, the stock one for the 8350 is loud and hot

To be honest, I wanted the Zalman z11 plus, but I realized my GPU was too big for it so I opted for this instead. At least my Motherboard isn't being stressed now.

Where can you get the PSU cheaper? That was the cheapest I could find at the time :(

I got windows 8.1 pro, but that option isn't available, so I just selected that.

I think i need a new cooler for the case too, it's not exactly quiet.

Thanks for your criticism, It will help If i end up building another one.

Even when OC'ed the 8320 will still be a decent bit slower.

The 8350 is an factory overclocked version of the 8320

It's not hanging out the back. Some CM cases come with a bracket that holds the power supply in, and it sticks out of the back of the case a little bit. Looks weird, but saves space. Like the Elite 110, 120, and 130 for example

At the time I had trouble routing the cables properly as the cables are pretty long, so I pulled it out to make room before screwing it back in. I did dismantle and resemble everything though, so the case is somewhat 'cleaner'.

8.1 pro wasn't available in the selection list, so i just added the closest thing.
