Description

Up front, let me address two obvious criticisms. (1) No I don't need 32 GB of RAM, truth is I ordered 16GB RAM online paid for two day shipping on a Wednesday, planning to build Friday and Saturday. Then I got a notification that it wouldn't be here until Monday. I really wanted to get the build done over the weekend, because I travel a lot for work, and wanted to get this completed. So I bought another 16 GB. The rest arrived today, and I decided to keep it. If I do another build or if a friend wants to buy some slightly discounted RAM I'll pull some. (2) I went with the GTX 970, despite all the advice to wait. Like I said I wanted to build this weekend. I went to MICRO Center on Friday morning, and there was a line out the door for the 4 1080s that came in (that were $800). I decided since this is my first build, I'd go with the GTX 970, and if I game as much as I think I will, then I'll upgrade around Christmas.

Saved some significant money catching a few sales and open box items. Had a 500 GB SSD in my laptop that had a bad MB and Screen. Had the m2 laying around (long story).

My wife did the SSD covers for me.

Ate a lot of Ramen and PB&J to save up for this one.

Anyways, ended up with a build that I'm happy with and am excited about. Let me know what you guys think.

beautiful MSI's dragon themed build! I have only one question: have you evere had problems with your skylake CPU?

No problems yet. OC'd to 4.5 Mhz at 1.28V last night. Didn't go over 46 degrees at 100% load

Would have beefed up the PSU a little, just an idea.

When you find a wife who helps you with computer builds, you win the game of life.

How did you get the motherboard for that low of a price?

Open box at Micro center. They had 25% off of open boxes. Lucky as hell. To save money I divorced myself from specific parts and started shopping sales, open box, etc
