I really like putting together used-parts builds around an especially good deal I find on some part or other. This time, it was a motherboard and RAM combo going cheap. I got it, then set out to get the rest of a system. The case was bought brand new, but everything else was bargain-hunted down in the wilds of the internet.
I'm posting some photos here, and for the rest please see this album.
Overall, a good system I think. A few things of note:
The case is terrible as it comes but fixable with some effort (for full details of that saga read the write-up in the linked album). The CPU overclocked to 4.7GHz at 1.35V with temps acceptable under the budget cooler. My testing in PUBG using FRAPS showed the system giving ~80fps on average at 1080p Ultra. (That is the game of the moment right now, so I figured some folks might be interested in that stat!)
