Description

IMPORTANT: This is my first build using a bunch of old and new parts that I got, shoutout to my friends for helping me with getting some parts for the system!

!!! STORY TIME !!!

(Skip this section if you hate reading and just wanna see stuff about the PC)

Before I built Octane, I used to play some flash games here and there on crappy school computers, on websites (crazymonkeygames.com and y8.com) but mainly I was playing on my Xbox 360 and Wii (lmao!) until I finally got my PS4. I started to get back into "PC gaming" near the middle of my senior year in High School, but there was one problem...

I HAD NOTHING TO PLAY ON!!!!

Well, I actually had a hand-me-down-from-my-mom 15", Dual-Core, 500GB, Gateway laptop with only 4gb of ram that I would make music and record off of, which was relatively better than an eMachines desktop running windows 7 with barely any space to even fit a stick of butter in-between the ram slots...

See what I did there, no? ok then :(

Anyways, of course with I struggled trying to play anything with game mentioned anywhere in the description, but... I came across a little something called GeForceNow! To get it, I had to sign up on a waiting list and wait a couple of months just to MAYBE be selected. luckily I did and it worked really well but the only problem was that I had a terrible internet connection from my room, so it only worked 10% of the 9000% of my day it took to even use it, which is obviously an exaggeration. If you got a great internet connection, but play on the sack of potatoes your Amish neighbors lost that you found laying around beside your door, I'd suggest looking into it...

BACK TO THE BUILD!

PARTS: So for all of you that read my story, thank you and I hope you chuckled even a little bit! But, those who didn't, it's ok, just know that I will always be better than you in CS:GO, no debate...

As far as the PC itself...

Case - This was the case my Grandpa had before he passed away (R.I.P), it originally was an old ASRock mATX motherboard with an AMD Sempron in it which was really cool to see once I started looking into it

CPU - A used Pentium G4400, clocked at 3.3 GHz, that I got from a friend (Shoutout mah boi Pepple) that came with a stock cooler, yes I know, but it was my first build ok, the next builds will be much sexier, I promise...

Motherboard - I bought a MSI z170 board without knowing how much money I would've saved if I had gone with an AMD build, I guess I should've learned from my Grandpa lol but hey, I got a free cpu so I couldn't complain

RAM - Kingston HyperX Fury 4GB sticks in dual-channel, running at 2400mhz, which (yeah is slow but gets the job done) I both got online, but the thing is, one was bought from HyperX's site itself and the other was sent from China which for some reason reads out as a slightly different model in the bios, but hopefully it wasn't a fake lmao

Storage - I took my old computer's 500gb hard drive (If you read the story, you'd know which one) that I sadly found out couldn't be partition at all, with another old 320gb 3.5 inch hard d... cough cough drive that came from the eMachines desktop that was smaller than my expectations of getting into college near the end of my senior year, lol

GPU - THANK YOU Ms. LaKesha if you ever see this!!! But yeah, she took me to the wonderful place known as Micro Center and helped me get one of the infinity stones I needed to get the "one-snapping" my problems away, hopefully you got the joke... oh, and It's the EVGA 1050 Ti

PSU - Who cares anyway but it's an EVGA 450w Bronze 80+ computer guts box

Peripherals - I got two old HP Monitors, one from donation and another from the old eMachines, I got a Razer Cynosa Chroma Pro I bought with money I used to buy a game for his Switch that he didn't end up keeping even though I suggested BOTW but that's another story. The mouse is a Logitech G Pro wired which works great but I still wanna try the wireless because I've heard great things, and I'm a simple man so I click and go buy... OH, and I have an Akai MK2 Mini with a possibly broken CAD U37 usb mic that I plan on replacing soon

Thanks guys for checking my build out, I have a youtube channel that I will be promoting soon after I get it up and running..

p.s. - You should give my music a listen, you might like it (soundcloud.com/bigpimppollo)

Part Reviews

CPU

Decent for web-browsing, typing papers, and checking your emails but don't expect to get any chicken dinners with this CPU.

Motherboard

Amazing motherboard for Skylake builds, it has plenty of overclocking features and plenty of headers, slots, and I/o to kill a grizzly bear, except for RGB Headers of course.

Ahh, a time when rainbow waterfalls weren't hidden under rectangular wooden slabs...

Memory

She protec..

She Attac..

but most important...

She runs at 2400mhz, and can open a good amount of incognito windows at once (shh...)

Storage

This HDD is fine as long as you don't take it out of a used laptop and put it in your PC, lol

Storage

It was necessary to build my PC but this won't do much in today's world except keep those hidden files in your downloads folder safe...

Video Card

An amazing budget gaming graphics card that can run pretty much any game that you throw at it at 60fps or above on medium to high settings, and some on ultra...

Power Supply

It hasn't blown up on me yet, so I guess it works fine...

Keyboard

It's great for replacing a non-backlit, non-gaming keyboard, and it's at a pretty good price too!

Mouse

An amazing mouse but I'd definitely would recommend this to people who have medium to small hands because this things is light and tiny, and comes with a big heart!

...or sensor, if you want to call it that.

Nice first build, might suggest down the road getting an exhaust fan.

Thanks! Yeah, I bought two 120mm’s only to find out that the case only uses 80mm fans, lol

I want to get a new case anyway...

ah, well that sucks, but i guess those things are present with using an old case.

Nice story, not that many first build stories have such incredible details. For such a decent price, it actually is quite decent. PC gaming for the win +1

Do you know if this is able to run League of Legends without problem?

I haven’t tried league yet, but I’ve played Dota at 1080p Max Settings and got at least stable 60fps, I’d recommend getting a better processor though.

Well, with that information, I am going to assume that it SHOULD be able to run League. Thanks for your feedback!
