First build in quite a few years, forgot how fun it was! Still have to tidy up the case a bit and put some LED strip lighting - will add some more pics soon.
I am drooling over this. You owe me a new keyboard. +1
Your build's title made me laugh so much more then I probably should have.
+1 For the Stark sigil!
Very cool, clean build! Can I ask you what the name of the desk is?
Butcher Block top with custom X style legs.
Name of that chair? Is it comfortable?
DXRacer "Racing Series" - and yeah it's pretty decent. I'm 6'3" and it's one of the few chairs that has fit me well
Once you go DXRacers, everything else sucks.
Gaming chairs have crap for ergonomic adjustments. Take a look at a modern Herman Miller or Steelcase task chair. No contest really.
Too bad those cost 700+ dollars. Cannot compare them to gaming chairs
That's fair; a high end task chair is gonna cost bucks. I was just replying to "everything else sucks". Not the case.
IKR, I agree that they are overpriced, but not overrated by any means. They look really good, but more importantly are comfortable to sit in.
Nah I used a stool for a couple of months...the struggle was real. That was a lot worse!
Considering your budget and the seemingly orange theme of your desk why not a Gigabyte SOC Force? Nice build nonetheless!
Great setup and rig! But man, the price of that ROG monitor! I want one badly but it's out of my price range. How's it treating you?
It's amazing...but at the same time I've been playing Overwatch a lot lately and not having 21:9 support yet kinda sucks. Hopefully they add that in soon! I went back and forth between this and the X34, so far I think I made the right decision.
Get a cheap 32"-40" 1080p tv/monitor for playing games in 16:9.
I got my 32in wireless Roku TV for $94. I play Overwatch on max settings with a flawless picture and all the FPS I could ever need running of a 980TI. You won't regret it.
Great build BTW. Looks a lot like mine! I went with the cheaper INWIN. I'll post soon.
A cheaper monitor makes sense. But why 1080p? That'd limit the gtx 1080. I'd recommend you too to get a 1440p monitor in your next upgrade. Everything will look better than what it is.
I went with the 32" Insignia Roku TV for several good reasons:
And last but not least, I can buy 2 more for CHEAP later when I have a bigger desk! When I upgrade to the 1080TI, my monitor setup will trounce everything else out there for the price.
Wow, best desk cable management ever! AWSOME.
More pics of your system would be nice!
How is the airflow in that case? I LOVE the look of it but the unconventional airflow makes me kind of worried
I've only had one multi-hour session of BF4 so far but the load temps stayed surprisingly low. I had a Fractal case before with double the fans (and noise)...I'll take this anyday.
I see you are a firefighter, thank you for everything you've done. Enjoy that setup, you've earned it!
Also, that cable mangement is godlike
sees that the GTX 1080 isn't in SLI
What is that Exact DESK, I WANT IT!!!
Custom, I got a 3x6' butcher block top, stained it and attached some X style legs. I couldn't find a desk when I was looking and didn't want the done-to-death Ikea look so this is what I came up with!
Oh bummer, ;p i rly wan this desk
Beautiful work. It caught my eye too.
Great setup. Would be good to see a few internal shots of the rig. I'm looking to build my own right in August. I'll definitely be sharing it here. Well done!
I feel like I've seen this room before... Have you ever had your setup featured on a YouTube video?
Seems like you have some major degrees hanging on your wall. But i don't see the certificate for your major OCD. : P
btw: more pics of the actual build, please. Looks good as far as i can tell.
Great setup. I love the case. Is it me or does that room look really cozy.
awesome job. +1111
Edit: One question. Which desk is that? I really like it.
Spectacular build :')
I've never really came across a case that I actually liked but this one caught me eyes immediately! can you take more shots of it and the inside? also if you could tell me what's the thing on the floor covering the room floor? thanks a lot !
This setup makes me moist.
Beautiful setup my friend!
Awesome all around - Like your choices! And which led's do you have/ where from? they seem to give off nice color and brightness
Philips Hue Strips
Amazing Build, i wish i could build one... I would only fix the power supply to one that is fully modular.
try this one instead HX100i same color but just better, and it allows for sleeved cables...
I actually do have the HX1000i, for some reason when adding that to the parts list here it defaults back to the regular 1000 line (semi-modular)
idk maybe it is just bugging out or something... if there is a build within a certain price you are looking for, i make parts lists... :)
Why did you go with the 6850k, you've only got 20 pcie lanes worth of hardware? Honestly you could have got a 6800k, an OC'd 3rd party GPU and had better performance for less money. Unless you're going SLI and have multiple PCIE SSD's you could still get away with the 6800 unless you really had to have 16x for each graphics card, which I'd say if that was the case they better be the best ones you can get because 8x vs 16x for each gpu is minimal.
Gorgeous setup. I dig the orange accent lighting… might have to do something similar if I can ever manage to have as clean a desk as that!
Is the ASUS STRIX mobo holding up? (just digging around due to the high number of failures reported on newegg… this board would hit the spot for me if I can rely on it.)
So far everything is going well!
I love everything about this whole room. This is what my office wants to be when it grows up. +1 for the drone
What case fan do you have? Did you keep the stock one? How about the H100i, did you keep the stock fans? Did you remove the HDD cage for intake fans on the bottom?
Keeping stock rear fan and stock Corsair fans...temps are great so far and the fans are pretty quiet so no complaints.
what desk are you using?
This guy knows what's what.
how do you like the keyboard? I have been wanting Corsair to make one with MX Blues but I dont think that is ever happening. I like the clicky and tactile feel of them but i know these MX speeds are completely the opposite. How did you find you liked them for gaming and general typing? This is a wonderful build by the way. I love it all
Can you explain to me why you chose the storage you went with? 1 500GB SSD (M.2 PCIe) and 1TB SSD. How are you organizing your stuff? I'm having trouble deciding whether to go with 2 500GB SSDs (1 for OS and applications (video editing applications, graphic design, animation, VR, game design, basically stuff I plan to get into) and another for games [COD BO III, Overwatch, League of Legends, Battlefront, etc.]) or just 1TB SSD. What's your advice?
+1 for clean room! (dang that's refreshing)
And obviously, really nice parts list and execution. /grats
Nice looking build, but where is that desk from?
Dayum that case :D And the monitor too :o
+1 from me bud!
what is your desk ?
WOT IS THAT DESK M8!!!
Epic name for an epic build! Can't wait to see some shots of inside that case; I'm looking to buy the MOBO and wanna know what it looks like in a build.
How's your mobo performing? My Strix X99 killed my CPU... And it doesn't seem like an uncommon problem.
Did you buy your desk or you built it?
Wish my setup was that spacious. Lol.
This should be on "Setup Wars." +1
what's the length of that desk dude??
