Sweet build! How do you find the Corsair RM550W? Does the fan run at all when you're using Windows, browsing or Youtubing?

The PSU is really quiet. To be fair, the radiator fans are much louder and so you dont really hear the PSU fan but as of now I havent seen it power up when just browsing the web.

update on the Corsair RM550? My planned build is similar to yours and i'm limited when shopping for PSU (locale). i'm thinking of going RM650 for future SLI 970.

let me know your PSU is holding up. thanks.

Sorry for late reply. PSU going well. No issues to report. I really like the quiet fan.

Nice build. Why did you opt for costlier CPU cooler ? I think the Hyper212x was sufficient for overclocks. Instead you could have bought a Samsung 840 EVO 250gb SSD! I have the same Monitor, same CPU, same SSD as your's! Cheers :D

Hey,

The cooler was not really something required. I looked at what was in stock at my local MSY and bought that. I havnt overclocked the CPU yet but the cooler will let me do so.

Are you really making the most out of 12gb ram? If you're editing video, wouldn't 16gb have been more cost effective?

I have not yet had an issue for RAM. I was planning on only getting 8 but saw another 4 on sale so bought it. Haven't had a problem yet with it. RAM is easy to upgrade so I will do that sometime if need be.

I was bored so I did a 3DMark 11 test, got a X5213

Not sure if that's good or bad but i have been very happy with my machine with it being able to play most games on nearly max settings. I would be interested in hearing what others have got if they have a similar or better set-up.

Updates... Added an old DVD drive for sisters computer. Added an old 500gb HDD from dad's old computer. Plans are to change all storage devices to 500gb SSD's

Update: I have added a Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD as I found the 120GB was too small for windows and all the other software on my computer. It is super fast..I love it.

Most online forums and reviews suggested the black's are faster therefore I went for the black. I havn't had any issues with its speed so far.
