Description

Prelude: After many weeks of study, research soul searching and pain. I have finally purchased everything and it is on its way. I can't wait to build my first gaming computer and hopefully (not) set fire to the house. Tell me what you think.

Day 1: It all went together very quickly. I hope this lasts. The thing boots up from a cold start in about 10 seconds and closes out in about 6. Super fast running windows from the SDD. Bought the Corsair 500R case just so that I could download some old DV tapes using firewire. And the ASRock extreme 4 does not have a place for it on the mobo. Oh well, maybe I can buy a pci card and find a way to splice the connecter from the front to it. The whole system runs very cool with the stock cpu fan and the MSI twin frozer III card, the computer is perfectly silent. Runs D3 at full graphics and I do not detect any lag. I do not think I am even scratching the surface.

How was your experience with the CPU and the GPU?

@ whebzy - So far, it is lightning fast and the card stays real cool. I feel like I am not getting 1080p on my windows 7 in certain programs, so I am looking into what causes that (it may just be a setting)

@ pc_nooby Thanks for the tip - I think I will save that for later on when the games start bogging down. Right now, I cannot detect any lag.
