I named my pc Illusion because at first sight it seems like a powerful pc, but if you watch closely...
Since a couple of months i am coming regularly on pcpartpicker to see others builds, because the hardware world and the gaming pcs passionnates me.
By the way I am a 20 year old French student so i'm still learning english, therefore sorry for the grammatical mistakes i'll make...
I have only played video games on the family pc in my childhood, i never had any console or gameboy. I loved games like Rayman, space invaders, the old and excellent Star Wars battlefront 2 and tons of other little games. Ahh the nostalgia :D
2 years ago i talked with my uncle about pc and he told me he had some old components lying around, I only had 200€ in my wallet at that time. He sent me the parts : - an old LGA 775 motherboard - 2 sticks of 1 Gb DDR2 ram - an Intel Pentium E2140 at 1.60Ghz with his stock cooler - an ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics card - a 250 Gb hard drive with an IDE connector
I am the kind of person you know that can chose aesthetics over performance, so i wanted a pc that i could be proud of and that is visually pleasing. Consequently i bought a fancy H440 case and i needed a power supply too. I was new to the hardware world so i chose a 650w PSU to be future proof, but it was overkill for my build.
At that time a friend of mine bought a monitor so he gave me his old one : a 22inch Asus.
I had some trouble at the beginning to install windows but the pc worked at the first boot. It was finally possible for me to have a desktop computer and play at league of legends in decent conditions.
In 2 years i managed to find 2 sticks of 1 and 2Gb of DDR2 ram, don't ask me how it works with the 2 that i already had lol. So i actually have 5gb of ram... After that i wanted a more "powerful" processor so i bought to a guy an Intel Q9300 for 20€ plus a Bequiet dark rock 3 to overlock the Q9300 to 3.2 Ghz (difficult to oc more than that on this proc). I also had an AMD HD 7770 for free, For the storage i updated to a SATA hard drive and a SSD.
And then here i am, after 2 years. I can play BF3 and CS:GO with a good framerate, I finished the Witcher 2, Tomb Raider 2013 and Outlast haha. Since then i put some money in a mechanical keyboard, a mouse, mousepad... But i never had enough money to step up and get a new MB/CPU/RAM combo. In the near future i will have a job so you will probably see a pc build with an obnoxious amout of money spent on it lmao, and the aesthetics are gonna be on point of course :)
Hope you enjoyed the build, I took some fun pictures from the balcony so you also know how Marseille, France looks like :p
P.S : little tip, my PSU cables were mustard and those ugly colors, so i approximately painted them in black with a permanent marker, looks much better!
Great looking cpu cooler, it is pretty efficient too. The bequiet silentwings 2 included with it is not silent, You have to set the speed to 800rpm to get rid of the noise. The other downside is the mounting process which is a nightmare
This is a nice case, with a lot of cooling potential with its 4 fans included. I have 2 problems with it : - After 10 months the led on the psu shroud lost almost all its brightness - There is not enough space between the back panel and the motherboard tray.
Otherwise the paint job is great.
It has a nice ergonomic shape, this is a palmgrip mouse. The side buttons feel nice but i only use 2 of them. I don't recommend at all this mouse for fps, it weights way too much (133 grams)
Best sounding headset for the price. You get a big bundle (bag, replacement pair of cushions, 3.5 jack extension...) Very comfortable, nice build quality. The microphone is ok
