Description

This is my main workstation desktop. It's used for casual solid modeling (Solidworks), Photoshop, web development, and gaming. Plus general internet and PC usage.

I originally put Icarus together in 2012 and it has remained in service as my primary desktop for nearly four years. That's incredible to think about really, because I used to upgrade nearly annually. It just goes to show how far software optimization has come, mostly out of necessity as a reaction to hardware companies refocusing R&D into mobile.

Yeah, I'm not winning any awards for cable management, or breaking records with the graphics card. But it works for 95% of what I use it for.

But with Star Citizen around the corner... I have been spec'ing out a full replacement... Icarus II.

It's weird because I usually hate yellow, but in this it looks nice.

I would upgrade that video card, but once you do that I think you are golden!

You need to re-route that 8-pin CPU power connector around the motherboard tray. If it's too short you can always pick up an extension cable for pretty cheap. Just looks downright horrible.

Yeah it does look like crap, but there's no window on the case so as long as it's not restricting airflow I'm not losing any sleep.

My next build will have a window, so I'm going to pull a John Hammond.

What does Stargate SG-1 have to do with this?!

Yeah the airflow is fine, no worries.

Just some feedback. Not hating on it if that's how it came off. To be fair there is no window so no need really and airflow isn't really a concern just a little detail.

Granted, poor word choice.
