I use this machine for gaming as well as a workstation.
Overall experience: The build turned out to be a lot easier than I had initially planned. Just about everything thing went into place without a fus. In the end, it was a very fun project and I learned a great deal in the process.
CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K My first choice was going to be the i7-5930k, BUT after realizing that I was placing my budget way too high, the 4790k fell right into place as my next top choice.
Motherboard: Asus SABERTOOTH Z97 MARK2 With a 5 year warranty and good reviews, I knew it was the one for me. With all the features and components, I have no doubt it will last the lifetime of the computer.
Memory: Kingston Fury White Series Not much to say about this decision. Great company, great product.
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB & Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB The ssd is used as a boot drive and a home for my most frequently used programs. The HDD was affordable and is used for storing everything else.
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 Damn good card for the price.
Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro (WHITE) Simple, sleek, great design. It has more than enough room for expansion.
PSU: Corsair CX750M With ample power and many great reviews, this was the choice for me.
Edit: x2 140mm Phanteks fans were purchased along with another 8gb of white Kingston ram.
