Description

This is the first computer that I have ever attempted building and I am happy to say it turned out quite well!

My intentions with this computer are to use it mainly for Photoshop, FL Studio, music production, school work, and occasionally gaming. I plan on eventually trying out cryptocurrency mining and overclocking in the future.

I am very happy with all the parts that I chose for this build. The only problem I encountered with it is the fan controller on the case isn't working which is why I took away a star from its rating. I tried my best to get everything to match the blue/cyan color scheme and I think i did pretty well with it. I was able to get Windows 8.1 Pro for free though Mizzou's DreamSpark program since I am studying Computer Engineering. I also managed to snag a couple off Kingwin 120mm fans from a TigerDirect retail store for -$3.01 each. Yes, the negative is correct, lol! They both rang up as $6.99 with a $10 MIR each so I got paid to buy them! I wasn't going to get the ASUS P9x79 Pro motherboard but I found it at Micro Center on clearance for $165.12 since it had an opened box and some parts missing (but nothing important). I managed to get a 200GB hard drive from an old computer.

The PC performs very well and stays very cool. I haven't been able to get the CPU to go above 40 degrees Celsius without overclocking it. I included a screenshot of its score on the Performance Test 8 benchmark and I am very pleased with the results.

I plan on getting a 3TB Seagate Barracuda to add to the storage since it is severely lacking at the moment and eventually adding more memory as time passes. I also plan on getting the AOC Ultrawide 29 inch monitor to use with it.

Let me know what you think of my build. I appreciate all feedback. Thanks!

UPDATE: Just picked up a 24 inch monitor from Office Max for $115 since it was the floor model. It's an Acer S240HL. I also have a Logitech wireless bluetooth keyboard and mouse. I'll add some pictures of my new setup since I just moved into my appartment.

I've never seen a fan card before, very cool.

RandomPinto 1 Build 2 points 43 months ago

A6x submitter 1 Build 2 points 43 months ago

Got it from eBay

RandomPinto 1 Build 1 point 43 months ago

Will any kind work or is it diffrent for each ps?

A6x submitter 1 Build 1 point 43 months ago

It will work with any power supply since it is just an extension for the 24 pin connector

Love the sapphire vapor-x series :D

ProEngPC 8 Builds 1 point 43 months ago

Awesome computer, looks great, and good pictures too. +1. If you use four memory modules, you could get even more performance of of the machine, because it supports quad-channel RAM.

Can i make love to your computer....

Izaac 1 point 43 months ago

Beautiful build. What's the graphics card like when gaming, I'm thinking of getting it?

A6x submitter 1 Build 1 point 43 months ago

I think its pretty good but its hard to say since I don't have much to compare it to since my last computer was a $250 laptop lol. But I have played Sleeping Dogs and Tomb Raider on it on max setting and it never dips below 60 fps unless anti aliasing is all the way turned up. With AA turned off i get around 140 fps on Sleeping Dogs. I hope this helps

Awesome build. Do you mind me asking where you purchased the black/blue power connector?

A6x submitter 1 Build 1 point 43 months ago

aflamion 1 point 35 months ago

Ooh, pretty blue lights :) I'm going for a black/white/blue scheme with my build, this is amazing inspiration. +1 from me :D

aflamion 1 point 35 months ago

Oh, also: thank you for posting an abundance of photos. It bugs me to see a cool build with only a few pictures. You've managed to post enough pictures to satisfy even my curiosity :)

SO F****** PRETTY

DodecPCs 2 Builds -2 points 43 months ago

Just my advice for the future do not get a Seagate drive. Western Digitals are much more reliable in my experience.

but awesome build +1

RyneSmith 7 Builds 3 points 43 months ago

Never had a problem with either. Storage is storage. I'd get which ever is cheaper honestly.

ProEngPC 8 Builds 1 point 43 months ago

Seagate Barracuda drives are slightly faster than WD Blue at the same price point,

DodecPCs 2 Builds 1 point 43 months ago

I have had several Seagate drives fail on me and people I know. Storage is storage, and once your drive ***** you over all your data is gone. I would want to go with the brand that is more reliable, and dependable.

RyneSmith 7 Builds 2 points 43 months ago

That's why you back everything up ^

A6x submitter 1 Build 2 points 43 months ago

Hmm, then maybe it'll be worth the little extra money for a WD
