Description

This was my first build and I wanted a smaller form factor that looked amazing. The Phanteks Evolv Shift fit that perfectly.

The AW3418DW is definitely overkill for the GPU I'm running, but I don't do a lot of PC gaming yet and I've been wanting to start. The reason I bought a 1050ti in the first place is that I originally bought a decent ultrawide monitor for $500 when building but I ended up returning it. Black Friday came around and I got a great deal on the Alienware.

I've been keeping an eye out for a deal on a refurbished 1080 mini or something similar to properly run this beast of a monitor and will upgrade soon to get rid of that bottleneck.

My one gripe with the case is that it's not the best for air flow. The CPU is liquid cooled and there's 2 fans in the case but temps tend to stick a little under 40°C during light use. Idle temp is about 38°C.

It definitely wasn't the easiest to work in but cabling ended up looking really nice.

Overall very happy with the build!

It's a beautiful setup. Truly impressive. But I think we are all a bit stunned by the lack of power that resolution deserves. What do you use it for? Personally, I think it's great. If you don't game and just browse or HTPC, that set-up is decent. Maybe a 2060 would've been a better route considering it would last longer, but I am still too impressed by the set-up to care about the choice in parts. It's beautiful. I use mine for gaming occasionally, and the games I do play require some power, but my rig is basically the focal point of my bachelor pad and handles everything from cable tv/movies, to browsing and gaming (I truly only play open world games mostly). So I get it. Most may not and knock your for the 1050ti, but if it does what you need and looks that good doing it... who cares what others think ;) You got style... and I am stealing your lamp.

Thanks man. I updated the post to mention why I have that combo at the moment since it's a little nonsensical and it was brought up a few times.

I've mainly been using it for work but I have started some gaming on it. I got Destiny for free when Blizzard had that deal awhile back and also picked up and went through KOTOR 2 for the nostalgia.

I hope Anthem can get their issues sorted out because I'd love to play that on PC. I played it a bit on console, it's beautiful and the core of the game is a lot of fun.

Appreciate the feedback and compliments!

I've been looking a bit, definitely going to. I updated the post with why I even had a 1050ti to begin with and a way better monitor.

What CPU and GPU temps are you getting under load? I am considering the Evolv Shift as well to save on desk space. How does the H80i fit? Also is it worth not having USB-C front I/O?

I know it can get pretty warm during gaming but I don't do enough to have solid numbers on that one, sorry.

The H80i is tight but that's partly my fault. I should have oriented it differently on the CPU to make it fit better. I didn't know at the time what would be the best placement especially with this being my first build. IMO I probably have the worst orientation with the the tubing being on the bottom. Definitely have it with the Corsair logo in normal reading orientation with the tubing on the right side and you should be in a much better position. Most I've seen have the tubing in an "S" going to the radiator and that's probably the best bet.

I use a wireless charger on my desk so the USB I/O isn't a problem for me. Phanteks should have included one but it's not a deal breaker.

Anyone else really like the on-camera effect that the blue led gives that looks like he accidentally spray painted the entire area?

I'm sure it looks better in person
