Description

This is my first build and I am very proud of it. It is mainly used for gaming, and from my experiences so far it is doing a good job. I was able to max out every game so far (except for Crysis 3) while keeping the FPS over 60. I will be getting GPU Temps and 3DMark11 results soon enough.

I bought an aftermarket cooler but I will only install it once I decide to overclock my CPU. I know that I need to work on my cable management but for the mean time this will do. I am also returning my 840 Pro 128GB for a 840 EVO 250GB because it is only $50 more. I removed the top HDD rack to get more airflow through the case and put the HDD on the bottom.

Overall I like this build a lot and hope to get a few good years out of it, what do you guys think?

Any way you can hide some of those cables, on the right, behind the mobo tray? The rest of the cable management looks great!

I don't understand why almost no rig can run Crysis 3 to the fullest. Seriously, it looks no better or different than Crysis 2. I think the programmers added code to slow it down so they could pull it off as something more extreme than it really is. An Xbox 360 can run it. I think that says enough.

On topic, not a bad system at all.

At Max I get 30-40 FPS. And it is not true what you are saying, the Xbox 360 version is not even comparable to the PC version. However, I can't see any difference between High and Ultra unless I got pictures of both side by side.

Well if it can run on Xbox 360, they obviously had to gimp the game so it could run on Xbox thus not utilizing a modern day PC's fullest potential. DICE and Crytek must have very talented programmers because it's still amazing that they are able to pull off BF3 and Crysis 3 for the Cell chip.

I'm digressing, so my apologies for that.

Crytek and DICE do not port their games from console to PC, so the fact that the game is on console doesn't diminish from the PC experience.

Yeah, I've been noticing a lot of 4670k/GTX 770 builds recently (it's what I have too).

what kind of fps do you get on maxed crysis?

EDIT: Nice case, I have the same one, it rules! But I got lucky and got it for 60 dollars on newegg! :p

For a little while I was thinking no one was going to get the reference.

Is that another PCI-e card I spy in there somewhere?

Looks like a wireless network card to me.

Won't that force his x16 card into x8 mode?

  • 1 point

Why would it do that? Not that it matters, a gpu doesn't utilize x16 speeds anyways, wifi is more important :)

Ok, true. But I ask because it relates to my own in-progress build. If another PCIE card is installed it has to take a PCIE lane and all 1150/1155 cpus only have 16. If another card needs a lane it has to take that lane from the GPUs 16. That would force the GPU into the next lower lane mode (x8).

Congrats on all your quality parts and balanced build! That 770 will destroy most games!

Edit: You should install that Hyper 212 EVO regardless if you are/are not OC'ing. It's much quieter than the stock cooler.

Awesome, awesome name. Really nice build too, how is your HHD doing? I've always liked their price, but I've read quite a few negative reviews. Any comments?

Nice! How come you have the stock heatsink in the photos?

In the description I mentioned that I will only install aftermarket heat sink when i OC.

I'd recommend installing the EVO anyway...it's much better, quieter, and keeps everything nice and cool, even if not OC'd...

And you would have only had to install one heatsink?
