Oh man, this was fun to build. I read a great story on Reddit about the backlash from a comment made by EA CFO Brent about Star Wars Battlefront 2.

"Darth Vader in white probably doesn't make sense, versus in black. Not to mention you probably don't want Darth Vader in pink. No offense to pink, but I don't think that's right in the canon."

Well, the modding community decided that they DID want a pink Darth Vader and so gave PC users the option to do so. This story is what gave me the idea for "Pink Vader"

With the release of the new Ryzen chips I was a little swayed away from Intel. However, I stuck with the Intel Core i5-8600k and I'm glad I did. It's overclocked at 4.8GHz @1.28V with temps during stress testing under 78 degrees.

CPU Cooler

NZXT Kraken X42 Ver 2. Now PCPartpicker states an incompatabilty but trust me, it fits just fine. Even with the huge Strix GTX 1080 fitted. Cools the overclocked 8600k without much increase in RPM and DB.

The Z370-i Strix seemed the perfect complement for the Coffee Lake processor. It delivered the same sort of benchmark results that I’d expect from an ATX board with a Coffee Lake Core i7 chip, and the new CPU architecture could be seen working well in CPU-intensive games tests. It also looks great and, with the metal heatsinks, fitted in well with the overall look of the build.

Two sticks of Vengeance LPX 8GB DDR4-3000MHz from Corsair is all I needed. They're white too so add to the overall look I was going for.

Comes in the form of Samsung 850 EVO 250GB 2.5" SSD, sprayed a beautiful Berry Pink for the OS. And a 7200RPM WD Cavier Blue 1TB HDD for the rest.

I initially bought the Asus GTX 1080 Turbo but I could not see it fitting in with the build. This was just personal preference as I wanted something a little more imposing and "sexy". I ended up with the Asus ROG Strix GTX 1080. Overclocked GPU and Memory clock to 2050MHz and 11000MHZ.

Custom job on the paint and some replaced vinyl decals stand this apart from any others I've seen. The 3 fans on this card make a huge difference when running games and I lucked in getting this on offer from Aria PC. More than happy.

As with "The Fame Monster" build that Mekberg did recently, I love the basic look of the H200i. It is a corker of a case and is a solid build. As with Mekberg the Smart Device on the NZXT case didn't matter to me either. I didn't even bother with the SMART device and completed the fan curves myself like I do on all my builds. As he said, do yourself a favor and bypass that feature.

The ATX, fully modular EVGA Supernova 550W powers this little pocket rocket and it does it with ease. Does exactly what its supposed to do...POWER.

I custom sleeved all the cables, supplied by Mainframe Customs and re-sprayed various parts of the case to match my "Vision" >D. NZXT AER RGB fans were added and initially an NZXT internal 2.0 USB hub was added to run the Kraken X42 AND the Smart device but later removed. Another 120 fan is mounted below the NZXT rad at the front of the case to pull more air into the case.

Great build, didn't take that long, very pleased with the outcome.

Socking it to the man...in my own, understated way.

NvidiaNewt 3 Builds 6 points 9 months ago

I smell a feature, this is really nice. :)

Arden_Computers submitter 1 Build 9 points 9 months ago

If this gets featured I will literally EXPLODE with excitement!

Well guess what...

Arden_Computers submitter 1 Build 4 points 8 months ago

Holy crap!!!

JetsuSeal 5 points 8 months ago

Good job man! But please don't literally explode, lol. Need more builds. However, if you do end up exploding, please sign here to forfeit your rights of "Pink Vader - Mini ITX" to me. xD

That white strix card looks really nice

Bronstet 4 Builds 3 points 9 months ago

AAARGGGHH!!!! THE PINK MINI-VADER CUTENESS HURTS MY EYES!!!! Just kidding, the pic of Pink Vader bathing in the glow of the 120 mm RGB fan and chillaxing is awesome. Super clean build too, I cna't believe how much clean space you have in the upper chamber. Awesome cable management skills.

Arden_Computers submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Dude, your words give me a warm fuzzy feeling!

AhodShralpy 9 Builds 2 points 9 months ago

Wow nice modding! I picked up this case myself and really like it as well. You made it unique and it looks great!

Arden_Computers submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Thanks, I must have sat on the idea for 3 weeks before commiting. Needn’t have worried, it turned out as planned.

Vaptik 2 points 9 months ago

that build looks insane! +1 also just curious, what resolution will you be playing at?

mekberg 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

Nice! Can you take a photo of the X42 radiator? I'm curious how it fits with regard to the graphics card.

Arden_Computers submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Currently in Norway so will have a look and see if I have any pictures of how “snug” it is. It’s a very close fit between the GPU cover plate and the bottom of the AIO rad.

Arden_Computers submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

In fact, in picture 8 you can see how very very close it is. Will get better pictures of it when I’m home.

mekberg 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Yeah you can get a rough idea with pictures 7 and 8. One is dark and the other has a bit of DOF, though.

I know with EVGA Hybrid AIOs they suggest having the hoses on the bottom of the rad. Does NZXT recommend anything with regard to placement? I suppose it wouldn't be possible in this setup anyway.

Arden_Computers submitter 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

It actually doesn’t regards fitting the rad. I did ‘fret’ about it for a little while as I had read online about closed loop systems needing to be mounted the opposite way for correct operation. However, I looked at ALL of NZXTs promotional photos of Krakens fitted to an H200i...they’re all fitted with the hoses from the top. I guessed if it’s good enough for the manufacturer...

And regarding the gap as soon as I’m home I’ll post more pictures. I’m in Norway until the end of March though so hopefully you can wait that long.

mekberg 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

I noticed that too in their marketing photos.

No rush on the photos :)

customgtp 21 Builds 2 points 9 months ago

Arden_Computers submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Thanks so much for the feels.

matt44271 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

I would have never thought that the Strix card would look a thousand times better in white! I love it +1 also yay Star Wars, but is it the senate?

skulwarior 2 points 9 months ago

I love this build. Honestly really want to build a mini because i have to travel between home and college and it would make my life so much easier.

Arden_Computers submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Do it! So many options for minis now. I hope more people ask me to do mini builds.

kenlao 2 points 9 months ago

got any pics or video on how you custom painted your gtx 1080? i also want to do but scared i might destroy or do anything to it

Arden_Computers submitter 1 Build 1 point 8 months ago

No video but there must be something on YouTube. It’s basically 6 screws to removed the fan shroud on top, six screws to remove the heat sink from the chip and then 8-10? Screws to remove the backplate from the board. Led connectors simply unplug. Don’t be scared, just be careful!

scab 2 points 8 months ago

Are you disassembling the case for painting? I mean rivets.

Arden_Computers submitter 1 Build 1 point 8 months ago

Didn’t pull the thing apart no. Just used lots of paint tape and paper.

Radox-0 5 Builds 2 points 8 months ago

DAMMMMMMM, that Strix looks real nice in white.

Lots of lovely custom touches, great work, easy +1

easily one of the cleanest builds I've seen. Good job +2

Merisal 3 Builds 2 points 8 months ago

I like the color combo.

Nice build!

DeadCarrot 2 Builds 2 points 8 months ago

Really clean. First nice pink build I have personally come across. Nice job!

Arden_Computers submitter 1 Build 1 point 8 months ago

Thank you! I think just controlling myself and not 'overdoing' the pink helped. Less is more I guess.

bobbyw87 6 Builds 2 points 8 months ago

Saw your build on Instagram looking good, here's my finished build. https://pcpartpicker.com/b/8JBbt6

customgtp 21 Builds 2 points 8 months ago

Congratulations on the feature!!

So.... How does it feel?

Arden_Computers submitter 1 Build 1 point 8 months ago

To say it feels great is an understatement. It’s only downhill from here :D

I’ve looked at other recent builds and I can see at least 3 that I think should have featured before me...especially Thatoe’s Little Shoebox build. It’s awesome.

customgtp 21 Builds 2 points 8 months ago

It is a blessing and a curse. I was featured a few years back and now it makes me strive to get featured again when I redo builds of mine. I have been features more though and it makes me a better builder, better picture taker, and pay attention to details and originality! it cost more money and time but helps me improve my skill set!! Next is watercooling for you ;)

And Ive seen some good builds but not enough to top yours. You have the originality, quality pictures, good entertaining description....

The next build you do that will be on your mind ;)

Happy building!!

customgtp 21 Builds 2 points 8 months ago

And no offense to the shoebox build.... It has a nice thing going on with the actual shoebox and shoes but you take that away and it is a mediocre mini build at best that has been done a lot lately and better. and that build mysteriously appeared and disappeared on the feature list idky, but this build is 10x better.

customgtp 21 Builds 2 points 8 months ago

I has a 1060 Strix card in one of my featured builds that I painted white too. Looked awesome. I did a vertical mount to it and looked pretty awesome..... such a good looking gpu

Arden_Computers submitter 1 Build 1 point 8 months ago

It’s already on my mind.

Wolklung 2 points 8 months ago

Pink Vader...

So wrong > but so right.

This build confirms it. Freaking nice work buddy.

davidbjr 1 Build 2 points 8 months ago

I love the colors so much, nice build!

Anyansayo 1 Build 2 points 8 months ago

Looks great. I just completed a build that is similar in some ways and different in others. That OC is impressive.

EndTheFed 3 Builds 2 points 8 months ago

WOW! It's not my PC yet seeing this build makes me giddy, lol. Congrats on featured and well done. This looks so amazing!

Ametista 2 Builds 2 points 8 months ago

Beautiful build! May I ask you, how did you connect both the RGB fans and the Kraken?

Fans connected to HUE+ that go into SMART device, and Kraken into mobo directly? I'm a bit confused since I have to build something similar pretty soon.

If you could explain it to me I'll be eternally grateful.

ProxyTani 2 Builds 2 points 8 months ago

Awesome build - love the balance!

Essex23 1 Build 2 points 8 months ago

In my head, I am channeling Tom Hank's "There's no crying in baseball" line, only I am screaming "There's no time Vader should EVER be PINK!" lol

Arden_Computers submitter 1 Build 1 point 8 months ago

Ha! I do prefer The Dark Lord in black.

VladQwerty 2 Builds 2 points 8 months ago

What a sweet build! I like the colors you chosen, and the white ROG Strix card is so gorgeous! Enjoy your new PC! +1

metakortex 2 points 8 months ago

EA : Pink Vader? Blasphemy! Arden_Computers : I find your lack of innovation disturbing.

Those rebel scum deserve it. Nice, clean, sensible build!

DerpyAlpuca 2 points 6 months ago

I know that this question was way later than the build but one thing, how did you paint the ssd with the samsung logo still in white? Anyways, very cool build especially with the spray job!

Kr0ma 1 Build 1 point 8 months ago

Hey man! Great build. Just a question. How many USB headers are on the mobo. I am planning on using the same one, but I am questionable if it will support the amount of USB headers I need. I am gonna use a Deepcool Captain RGB AIO cooler. I know that this can be connected to the aura header. I am also planning on getting Thermaltake RGB fans. Would there be another USB header? I just wanna know many USB headers there exactly are for connectivity. Thanks!

Nerdatron_of_Pi 2 points 8 months ago

I am planning on getting the RGB captain too. I heard its good and it looks cool

Arden_Computers submitter 1 Build 1 point 8 months ago

You have 1 usb 2.0 header and 1 usb 3.0 header internally.

Kr0ma 1 Build 2 points 8 months ago

Thanks! Hopefully it supports both the TT RGB fans and the AIO cooler.

Duky 1 point 8 months ago

May I ask how you did the paint job, like with what equipment. I love it so much and want to try and make something similar.

iLikehawtcomputerz 1 point 8 months ago

This is by far the best looking computer on this website

Arden_Computers submitter 1 Build 1 point 8 months ago

Thank you very much!!! I hope my next one will be as appealing.

residentof254 1 point 8 months ago

Did you swap the cooler fan for a AER RGB?

JohnnyKarr 1 point 8 months ago

Would a 240mm AIO fit with your graphics card?

xieagle 1 point 8 months ago

Nope you can't, i think max 270mm GPU length if 240mm radiator is installed unless you go with something like EVGA SC that is 266mm.

Arden_Computers submitter 1 Build 1 point 8 months ago

No. There is not enough clearance from the rad.

liamadms 1 point 8 months ago

Are you able to control the fans without Hue+? I don't see it anywhere and I am wondering because I'm thinking about a build with the h200i

SeanTron89 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

How did you manage to get that much of a gab between the gpu and bottom, I pretty much have the same set up but with i7-7700k... maybe my gpu is thicker with the Strix 1080 ti OC, you have the Strix GTX 1080.

TarikDurak 1 point 7 months ago

The strix 1080ti is way thicker than the 1080. Look it up in a size comparison and you'll see.

SeanTron89 1 Build 2 points 7 months ago

My build has the 1080ti OC already, got less clearance, but got a front case fan to kick in when needed over 60c. To get more flow than without.

TarikDurak 1 point 7 months ago

Did you remove the cable management bracket in order to fit the aio tubes through the hole at the top? I havent seen anyone doing it like this, but this way it genuinly looks pretty good. I found that with the way everyone else does it, it ends up looking kinda sloppy because of the limited amount of room.

SeanTron89 1 Build 2 points 7 months ago

Check out my build, pretty much same setup with aio passing over top bar, different brand. 3 screws to remove then place back to fit snug... I ended up feeding tubes around the fan uptop with a ziptie holding it in place to help out to get straight exhaust flow upward.

RudeTree 1 point 7 months ago

is there an actual 3.5 hard drive spot in the h200i i cant find anything about it but if it does there be any negatives?

srobbins173 1 point 7 months ago

Yes there is. Screws to the bottom of the case in front of the PSU

TarikDurak 1 point 7 months ago

Were you able to hide the usb 2.0 header cable on the motherboard behind your graphics card? I finished my build but don't have a graphics card installed right now but the cable is so hideous to look at so I was wondering if when I do get my gpu I can squish the cable behind it.

XPcPartPickerX 1 point 7 months ago

Hey Im building a similer build. I have a 1060 strix and am getting the same cpu as you. Would the water cooler kraken that has a larger radiator work ? And if not does the 1 keep it cool under overclocking. ( sorry English isn't my first language

synergyi 1 point 6 months ago

How did you get kraken rgb light and aer rgb fans and light strip to work without nzxt internal usb hub?

GamingAsesino 1 Build 1 point 6 months ago

How did you turn the white bracket to pink? Did you spray painted it? Which one would you recommend

buttsu556 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Kinda surprised you managed to keep gpu temps that low with an overclock, seeing how close the fans are to the psu shroud.

rareform_j 1 point 4 months ago

Thinking about going with a similar cpu/gpu combo. I"m wondering what your benchmarks are for some popular titles, if you noted any?

busdriverjoe 1 point 3 months ago

Looks great! Do you think a second 3.5" hdd rack or mount would fit anywhere in a completed build like this? Or even just an extra 3.5" hdd loose under the shroud?

ANickhorn 1 point 3 months ago

Fantastic build, great work! Question on your AIO, is there enough room to mount a second 140mm fan for push/pull? In some angles it looks like it might just fit and clear the top plate of GPU. Thanks!

LEMONMELON76 1 point 3 months ago

I love you color scheme and your cable management! Amazing job!

Galileo81 1 point 3 months ago

Nice build, glad to know a X42 fits well into the H200i.

Can i fit a 140 mm fan below the X42 radiator?

Quackyyyyy 1 point 3 months ago

i have a system pretty similar to yours but im using a air cooler would u recommend switching to that water cooler does it keep your temps low?

thegreenmario 1 point 2 months ago

How did you fit that gpu and radiator without them overlapping?

thotimusprime 1 point 1 month ago

Oh **** dude I saw this post on ur instagram and absolutely fell in love with it. The pc im building is actually based of yours I love it so much!

e1543 1 point 1 month ago

Wow! I know this is late but what a great build!

e1543 1 point 1 month ago

Was the GPU super difficult to respray? I'm looking into that card but I would respray it to white as well, how difficult was it to keep the logos there? Did you have to put tape on them?

Trilas 1 point 19 days ago

What a clean and awesome build. I was wondering about the temps on your strix card since it sits very close to the psu chamber. Any readings on that? Looking to do and almost similar build just all black with blue leds :-P

brucenoose 1 point 18 days ago

What type of paint did you use?

ChucRupts 1 point 9 days ago

Amazing build! Does the case support the x42 + a 140mm fan in the front?

I'm in between the x42 and m22 for my h200 build.

MylesH -3 points 9 months ago

Damn that GPU sag ain't no joke.. Looks terrible.

customgtp 21 Builds 3 points 8 months ago

Donno what your looking at MylasH but I don't see any sag and nothing even close to terrible on this build..... Keep it polite!

Hxx 8 Builds 2 points 8 months ago

i see a little sag in picture 7 but i would be shocked if that causes an issue. likely the cables putting some downward pressure on the card but ive had and seen worse.

Arden_Computers submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

I’m upset by this...it’s hurt my feelings.
