Description

Hi guys :-)

I've finally finished my custom GPU MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X:

  • red & black colors of GPU plastic cover brushed with sandpaper, then sprayed with new glossy black & white color,

  • heatsink sprayed with matt black color,

  • back I/O metal cover also brushed with sandpaper, then sprayed with matt black color,

  • old thermal pads on PCB replaced by new ones,

  • 95mm fans replaced by new ones (because they squealing),

  • custom extension cables made by TichePC.sk,

  • custom gpu backplate made by ColdZero.eu,

Other customizations:

  • old thermal pads on VRM on motherboard also replaced by new ones,

  • Deepcool cooler mounting kit and some parts of pump sprayed with gloss black color.

enjoy! ;-)

i don't know why MSI wouldn't just offer a white variant of their card for the same price, so many people have done that paint mod. otherwise nice touch on the heat sink, makes it look extra slick

I hate that. They literally only offer it for the 1070 TI and it's a significant markup over other 1070 TIs.

Yeeh, I'm of the same opinion ;-) Red color or RGB is everywhere ....bored about that.

And thank you!

Absolutely amazing build, what you done to the gpu in particular is amazing to me, how did you paint the heat pipes? is it a special paint? what are thermals like now? wouldnt expect much of a change, anyway never did like the red msi use, it made the cards look cheap or something, might try something similar in the future, well done and an upvote from me!

Thanks dude :))

Used simple industrial color in spray - matte black (1 layer on every heatpipe). Temps are +- the same.

did you use a 6pin or 6+2pin for the gpu cable?

6 pin + 8 pin

i see may i request 1 picture of it connecting to the psu? because i'm gonna buy extension cables though i'm still not sure if i should get the 6+2 pin + 8 pin or dual 6+2 pin. also what did you use to spray the heatsink of the gpu?

Custom cables depends on what PSU you have. U wanna buy complet new custom cables which will replace your actual cables ?? Or u wanna buy extension cables ??

I used simple industrial color in spray - matte black, 1 layer on both sides.

not sure if a 50cm custom cables would be enough for my h200 case, if not might as well get an 30cm extensiom cables.

Love what you did with the GPU! Red/Black is dated.

Nice to see painting done right. It's all in the prep.

Looks great.

That black shroud needs something done to it, not sure what though. ;)

Woah...

Amazing! Are you considering doing any other mods? Maybe to the case, or the radiator? I just want to see more, because it's honestly incredibly well done.

Probably no. This is finished project, just simple beauty. But don't worry, new project is on the way ;-)

Colored mine black but how did you remove the red part from the MSI LED logo? And did you use tape to cover the heatsink before coloring the heat pipes?

I cutted off red part of MSI logo, and then pasted new slice of glossy white paper .... sorry, hard to explain that :D

Heatsink, tape cover, yes, I did.
