The goal was to build a machine for my lovely wife that is silent, yet still powerful enough to handle challenging tasks, streaming video, 4K, and games, for the next couple of years...
One moment of silence for everyone buying a 970 right before Nvidia revealed the 1070. Very nice build but wrong timing :D
AGREED I JUST FINISHED MY BUILD 3 MONTHS AGO WITH A 970 AND AM VERY PISSED ABOUT IT
Au contraire, mon ami. This was the build for my wife, who's not that much into gaming. For my own machine I will definitely be waiting another month until the Pascal-based graphics cards arrive...
In this case my comment is just a warning for everyone who is planning to built a PC soon and looking for inspiration on pcpp.
A lot of Pascal Wannabe's jumping the gun. Look before you leap!
They just announced the 1070 ;_;
Umm, how do you get such bad wiring management with a fully modular power supply? I'd recommend taking that HUGE sleeve off and then just running the straight wires.
Anyone - Anywhere - with any smarts knows that you wait a year until the prices go down - and there are at least 20 games made for that card before you buy it. And then and only then if it is worth it. And then only if it is on sale!
Wait for the 1090. That will be in 2018. By then Windows will work with that card and Nvidia would have done the standard 15 software upgrades to get it to work. Look before you leap!!!!!
Lotsa Pascal Wannabe's jumping the gun.
I like this build. I think I'm going to copy it. :)
