Description

Once upon a time, there lived a poor boy who loved video games but had no idea what he was missing out on since he only played on console. He heard legend of a people that were know as the "PCMasterRace" but thought of it as only myth. He decided to look into this and what he found opened his eyes to a whole new world of what is possible with gaming. After seeing all the wonderful mods and games that Steam has to offer, he decided it was time to make a change...

SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!

Now that intro took place 3 years ago. Since then this computer has changed many times. The picture of the black computer was the first life of this build! Over 4 complete remodels and over $5000 of swapped out parts later, it sits as it is now. Every part was chosen based on looks, performance, future proofing, and mild space saving.

(Notice how I didn't say price? I gave up on that after the second remodel.)

Now to explain what I use this for; Gaming over all else. I mean it was built to replace my aging Sony Peasant Machine so it had to do that first and foremost. I do some light music editing here and there just for myself. Not enough music editing though to even get close to using like 5% of this computer. I also use it for school work at Columbus State being a Mechanical Engineer Major so it does good with CAD and the sorts. That is about it so now lets get onto the Main Parts and my reviews!

  1. Intel i7-4820K Great processor, not the fastest or best performance compared to the LGA 1150 i7-4790k but I made the mistake of getting LGA 2011 right before 2011-V3 came out. Granted both sockets aren't exactly for gaming but again I tried to keep future proofing in mind. Runs at good temperature with a Corsair H105 and does well in all the games I play. Mild overclock of 4.2 Gz and will be getting the 4930k once I have the money but for now, it works.

  2. Corsair H105 Nice 240mm liquid cooler that looks great paired with the red AF120 fans and the optional red insert for the cooler. Keeps my CPU nice and cool even under long sessions. No water drip noise either in the cooler so that's nice.

  3. ASUS Rampage IV Gene Amazing micro ATX board by an outstanding company. I had the E-ATX Rampage IV in my previous build ZEUS so I fell in love when I saw a micro version of the board! Has plenty of nice features and looks amazing. My only complaint is the sound ports on the mother board block my back plate from going on completely so I had to make a small cut on the back plate to fix but it wasn't anything hard. Other then that I did also have to update the BIOS for my 4820k but I already knew that before buying.

  4. Kingston HyperX Fury 1866 16gb is a little over kill but I use it on some modded games and plus having all the slots filled looks amazing! RAM didn't have any trouble installing and they're all working great.

  5. MSI GTX 980 4G Gaming after stepping up from my old MSI 770 4G Gaming , this thing blew any of my games out of the water. Performance is amazing and absolutely love the card. Hate how they don't make back plates for them unless you get one custom made. Now I've been stuck on either SLI or get a 980ti. That's the fun part though is watching benchmarks and seeing which id rather do!

  6. Phanteks Enthoo EVOLV BEST MICRO CASE EVER. At least in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, there are other good cases too but I fell in love with this case when I opened the box. Full metal, very little plastic. The hinged side panels are a great feature, make quick work or something very easy. Love the PSU shroud, even fit a light down there to make it look extra sweet. Only problem is that there is not a lot of cable management especially for the braided cables, but I dealt.

  7. EVGA 850 watt Great PSU, no problems or funny noises. Bought the 850 because I was already using a 1000w EVGA from my build ZEUS and knew that EVGA made good PSUs so I decided to stick with them.

  8. ASUS 144hz Monitor I had no Idea what I was missing by only playing at 60hz on my old ASUS monitor. I always wanted to try 144hz but they were always expensive. When I saw this monitor for around $250 on Amazon I ordered it first thing. I know this might sound weird but going from 60hz to around 100hz in BF4 my K/D shot up like a rocket. Not because I was playing better but that extra 40 frames made the difference.

Of course I recommend all of my parts because they all work great! If you survived to this part and enjoyed my rambling then I suggest you hit the up vote and send me a comment, Id love to talk to you guys or answer any and all questions!

If you play any of the following;l Arma 3, ARMA 2, Borderlands 2, Borderlands Pre-Sequel, Battlefield 4, Killing Floor 2, Dying Light, GTA V, PayDay 2, Red Orchestra 2, Sid Meiers Civ 5, or Project Zomboid. Or maybe something you'd recommend me playing based on those! Add me on steam. Id love to have fellow PCPartsPickers to game with!

My Steam I.D. - ForePlayFrankie

And since it was a question on my previous build ZEUS, all my stickers are bought from Redbubble.com !

Found them Open box at my local Best Buy for $90. Seeing them on the clearance rack for that didn't give me much of a choice.

If the weird color of the logo bothers you, it's just a piece of plastic with a weak adhesive. I took mine off, but maybe it's because I'm OCD about that sort of thing

I must ask.. how would one attain such stickers?? Is it custom ordered or is it handmade...(P.S I saw your "Zeus" and "The Butcher" builds... this may have been your best work so far... lol... no that those were bad.. this is just better) and one more thing... how do I get them in flush cut.. like without a white border... (Is it the reason you have a knack for white cases??)

Thank you very much for your reply, it means alot to hear you looked at my other builds!

About the stickers: They are all ordered off the amazing site of Redbubble.com and you are right that I do have a thing for white cases because 1) They looks amazing 2) You don't see dust and dirt as well and 3) you cant get the stickers without the white border. You could always order and then cut the white edging off yourself. Its hard but worth it, the stickers are great quality but sometimes you'll run into one that you get and it will look a little blurry and that's because the picture didn't scale right when they printed it. Regardless, there are so many stickers to look at that have literally anything you can think of!

Hella late message but how did you fit in that PSU and still have space for the HDD cage? I'm trying to fit my HDD in but It won't go on the side panel cause of a 240mm AIO at the top of my case.

Well the rmi series is a little shorter then what I used to have in there. Easiest way is to grab all your cables and pull them away from going in then slide the psu in and bend the cables when you shove the connector side in near the hdd cage. It's a real pain but they can be forced in
