Build

My First All Rounder

by Likepie321

Description

This build will be used for photo editing and gaming every so often

It took about a month to geet all of my parts and I also had to RMA the processor to Newegg because of bent pins.

Part Reviews

CPU

It is one hell of a processor demolishes everything I throw at it.

CPU Cooler

Pretty cooler took a while to get an AM4 Bracket and the USB and Sata power cables are a little short.

Motherboard

Pretty Board I wish it had another usb 2.0 header though.

Storage

IT IS FAST AS HELL I HAVE HAD 3 SECOND BOOT UP FROM THE BIOS.

Storage

Speddy Drive and tons of storage,

Video Card

Took forever to get but it is stunning even though it is a little pricey compared to competition.

Case

Gorgeous case but I would rather have Hard Drive Sleds Instead of metal on metal for the hard drives and two 120 fans on top instead of 1 140 fan.

Case Fan

Pretty fans even though I do not turn on the led's that often i wish there was a better way to link the fans though.

Case Accessory

Looks pretty does what it says but CAM sucks ***.

Monitor

Absolutely gorgeous display great colors and pretty cheap if you are getting into 4K.

Keyboard

The space bar is amazing colors are vibrant love the switches but it is a little pricey for what you get.

Mouse

I can play memes on it.

Likepie321 submitter 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

Yeah I wish it really sucks when i put the hard drive under load you can hear the case rattle sometimes.

LatiosGaming 2 Builds 1 point 20 months ago

That's a little scary

Coolpick 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

Wow you almost the same PC as what I'm going to make xD Nice build dude :) Here's mine: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6tHJXH

Thanks!! judging by the parts you have that is going to be one hell of a build.

amthatasplogstik 2 Builds 1 point 20 months ago

About your list, I just want to point out that the 1700 will bottleneck the 1080 ti in games like the Witcher 3 and such.

Coolpick 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

Alright. Not going to play Witcher 3 any time soon though, planning on playing games like Battlefield 4, Call of Duty, Just Cause 3, etc. So would the 1800/1800x bottleneck the 1080 ti?

amthatasplogstik 2 Builds 1 point 20 months ago

I believe that even the 1800x does bottleneck the 1080 ti but it's hardly noticeable.

How the 1800X behaves with 1080 Ti possible to have a benchmark

Likepie321 submitter 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

I have two 3D Mark Benchmarks

I need that mouse now. I didn't know you could play memes on it!

Likepie321 submitter 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

Yeah it also vibrates it is ******* amazing.

Nemesis561 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

Hi, quick question. Do you notice any kind of humming or coil whine noise coming from the Kraken x62 while playing games?

Likepie321 submitter 1 Build 2 points 20 months ago

No not really might be because the case is very loud at times and may overpower the whine.

Aslayer360 1 point 20 months ago

Nice, but one thing to make it perfect is to get cablemod sleeved cables.

Likepie321 submitter 1 Build 2 points 20 months ago

I'm intending on getting cables from ensourced soon.

SirHalpin 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

they look really nice compared to competitors, do you think EnSourced is the way to go?

Likepie321 submitter 1 Build 2 points 20 months ago

Yes the price is very up there but it is the best of the best.

I got the same motherboard, and easily got a 4ghz overclock stable with the included AI app. Ram still isn't running at 3200 but according to AIDA64 I got 2x ram performance and 6x cpu performance coming from an 8350 with corsair vengeance ram. IMO well worth the $900 cost of the upgrade

Likepie321 submitter 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

I could not get even apply an overclock might be because of the BIOS i can't overclock ram either.

Chemicalvamp 1 point 20 months ago

"AI Suite 3" successfully applied a stable 11% overclock of 4016.4 MHz by means of a 39X multiplier with a 103 MHz bus at a voltage of 1.330. Here is a screenshot https://www.dropbox.com/s/jo0odsx9086dtmk/AISuiteOC.PNG?dl=0

Something to note here is I am using a Corsair h100i (version 1) AIO liquid cooler also your results may vary. My memory speed is no where near rated but the amount of speed this upgrade is.. I'm not worried about it yet. FYI: I have not done any manual overclocking of any kind, what I have was done with the included AI Suite 3 program. It makes changes, reboots, stresses it, and repeats until a crash.

Also I did hit the bios F key for fast OC I think thats where i got the 3% OC on the bus.

Samplebot 1 point 17 months ago

Good build.. but 16gb of ram is far from future proof, especially on this build.

Likepie321 submitter 1 Build 1 point 16 months ago

I have room for two more sticks.

Ballistic__ 1 point 9 months ago

Why is a "falcons vs patriots" game of the pictures?

DrFresh2k 1 point 6 months ago

How many INTERNAL USB 2.0 headers are on the board?

MegaMas123 -2 points 20 months ago

I can tell you are going for high performance gaming so I would have recommended the i7-7700k, it's cheaper and runs better on high end performance.

Likepie321 submitter 1 Build 0 points 20 months ago

Naw gaming was not the main priority it was a mix of photo editing and gaming on the side and if I wanted to game I would still get Ryzen for the sake of future proofing.

MegaMas123 -2 points 20 months ago

Intel is actually better for streaming and rendering if you need links for proof I imagine you didn't do much research on the topic.

Likepie321 submitter 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

Lol what if you are a streamer and you are using any encoder like twitch Ryzen is far better There are. Multiple videos on YouTube about it

The 1800X provides more than enough high performance in gaming, it will chew through 60 fps no problem at all in anything so as far as thats concerened you dont need a 7700k to game. Besides, what if you want to do something else while gaming, the 7700k would start running out of power alot quicker than the 1800x, from experience anyway :)

MegaMas123 0 points 20 months ago

7700K actually is faster at rendering videos and streaming also 60fps what are we xbox360?

chinook121 1 Build 0 points 20 months ago

XBone actually, and the 7700k is pegged at 100% at gaming in newer titles, which leaves nothing for recording software or streaming software to use. That's why I went with the 1800x, speed plus multitasking.

MegaMas123 0 points 20 months ago

I guess it's more of personal opinion then since they both have their faults nice build tho!

chinook121 1 Build 0 points 20 months ago

Yere, don't get me wrong I'm a massive fan of both, and if intel had 8 cores available at a similar price I would have gone that way, but hey, needs must and all that. My next build will be with coffee lake so that way I've done both :)
