Description

After having dealt with a laptop that constantly over heated, I decided to build a computer. I mean after all, it seemed like a good idea, and it has worked quite well! I wanted to stay beneath $800, but the specs I wanted just couldn't be crammed under there while using quality components. $900 isn't bad for a high school gaming rig! I also had a few bad experiences with Microcenter during this build, but nothing serious (They gave me a PCI-E Wireless card when I asked for a PCI one, 32-bit windows when I asked for 64-bit, and straight up lost a video card I pre-ordered online) Overall, I had a great time building it, and am having a better time playing my new games on it! >:)

P.S. For those of you who don't get the reference, Deep Thought is the computer from Douglas Adam's Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy. It came up with the answer to life the universe and everything -- 42.

I was looking for a plain black box at Microcenter and saw this... I bought it immediatley

Please note: I got the SSD from J&R on sale. Never buy from them. I got a refurbished one instead of a new one like I paid for, and on top of that, it is faulty...

Your video card should really be in the top PCIe slot as it's PCIe 3.0 x16, whereas the other is PCIe 2.0 x4.

Other than that, very nice build especially for the budget. Happy gaming. :)

I had an issue where the PCI wireless card would block the fans if I put it in the top slot... will that cause heat issues, or would it be fine?

It shouldn't cause heat issues. May I ask why you went with a PCI Wifi card as opposed to PCIe or USB?

I went with PCI-e until I noticed there is no pci-e ports! And I didn't want a usb, so my choice was clear :P

But you have two PCIe slots.. Your video card is sitting in one of them.

Wait, seriously? ****... oh well, I'm a first time builder and made an oversight :P I thought pci-e and pci-e x4 or x16 were different...
