Description

Edit: Finally upgraded to a 8700K and Asus Maximus X Hero! A little late, but for the price I got it for, it only made sense :). Running 5.0Ghz @ 1.35, almost stable 5.1Ghz @ 1.385. CPU temps maxed at 55C after half an hour of prime95 with a low fan curve. Of course, running the CPU delidded and a copper IHS from RockitCool.

Edit: Thank you for the feature!! It really means a lot to see my hard work appreciated by many!

This is my first PC build that I started planning in July 2017. Focused mostly around gaming and editing, I constantly found myself planning upgrades to fit my needs aesthetically and in performance. I initially started with an AIO watercooling system but chased silence without sacrificing performance. After months of researching, learning, and shopping, I finally pulled the trigger and did my first watercooling loop. I couldn't decide which color coolant to use, so I separated the components in the loop and just did both hahah. Definitely an overkill of a build, but ultimately proud of the work and time I've put into it to call it my own personal creation.

Some notes: I'm incredibly happy I bought my components like the GPU and ram before the fluctuation in price. You may only see 9 fans in the picture but there are 12; there are 3 underneath the case that I custom ran for push/pull configuration since air intake on the Lian Li case isn't optimal. Not pictured, but the CPU is delidded and I replaced the IHS with a Rockit Cool Copper IHS. Cabling was done by Ensourced Custom Accessories. The 1080 Ti maxes about 52 degrees Celsius while playing PUBG on almost all ultra settings at a 21:9 34" 3440x1440p monitor; FPS rarely drops under 100 under the balanced fan curve. If you understand the basis of the origin of Sad Machine, we can be best friends.

Hope you guys enjoy this build!

I wanted to comment but you already nailed it in 1 word

I was thinking a four letter word as well but mine started with an F. I could stare at that build for hours.

Wolfemane 7 Builds 27 points 7 months ago

Sad machine... shut UP :) This is by far one of the most gorgeous builds I've seen on this site. You're loop is spectacular. Your pictures are well taken and mesmerizing. Your system is worthy of a montage video!!

oh.. and you're using swiftech and black ice. Two of my favorite water cooling products! VERY cool dude. I wish I could hand out more than just a +1

Hey if your temps are within range, you can go higher on that voltage. 1.45v - 1.475v should be just fine. Hell as long as temps are good you can push to 1.52v which is max listed voltage. But regardless, 4.8ghz is still a fantastic oc for your 7700k.

+1 fellow builder!

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 4 points 7 months ago

Thank you! I appreciate the feedback and compliments very, very much! And also your OC recommendations!

Wolfemane 7 Builds 5 points 7 months ago

I'm not one to usually say this, but I hope you get featured. Your pictures really show your attention to detail. It's clean, colorful but not in an over the top way, and organized. Hell, there's a lot of space in that case, and you did a duel loop and it STILL looks like it has a ton of space. Not many PC-011 cases you can say that about. Just a stunning build, and stands right out.

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 3 points 7 months ago

Oh, believe me, it sure was a headache at times hahah. I seriously spent so much time measuring, designing the loop, redesigning, and endless trips to the store to change things out to make it work the way I wanted it to

Wolfemane 7 Builds 2 points 7 months ago

EXCELLENT! A system very much worthy of a feature. Congrats!

QuantumDoons 1 point 6 months ago

But you know what all that time was worth it because this build is literally one of the best builds I have ever seen in my life. Nice job!

Fragvergnugen 1 point 7 months ago

+1!!

Actually, my interpretation of your "Sad Machine" build was different. I think of it as a "SAD Machine", as in "Seasonal Affective Disorder Machine" or people who feel a bit sad and depressed during the gloomy winter months due to sunlight deprivation. So if you feel a bit depressed during gray winter days, you can just sit at your desk to get some blue-light RGB therapy and feel happy again :-D

BubblesLord7000 2 points 7 months ago

There is no way this is his first damn build. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. Gronk says NO!

Enter setup wars

bbogle86 1 Build 4 points 7 months ago

Now THIS is how you RGB! The entire design comes off clean, deliberate, and thoughtfully executed, rather than the random assortment of shiny things that seems to be trending these days. You could have told me this was your 10th build and I would have believed you.

Excellent all around. +1

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

To be honest, I was a little nervous of how the RGB would be viewed, as I know its very subjective. I was aiming for something a little less flashy, but still attention grabbing. Plus I just love the combination of the colors used in general lol. But I'm glad it came out good!

bbogle86 1 Build 3 points 7 months ago

In my opinion, RGB really CAN be beautiful, but only when it looks like it was on purpose and there was a plan, and not just a collection of parts with all their lights set to rainbow. You really put a lot of thought into your design and color scheme and it shows, so well done!

Stingrider907 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

I totally agree with this. Also I love those keycaps, although I am wondering how easy it is to read the legend on them.

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

Damn near impossible sometimes tbh. Im considering switching back to stock lol but im getting used to it. I just have to look at the keys from an angle or keep hitting keys until I find the right one hahah

Stingrider907 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

Yeah kind of figured. lol

RisingPh0eniX 1 point 7 months ago

Would you tell me where you bought these keycaps? They are preety cool imo

Ahryi 4 points 7 months ago

Is anyone there? Oh - hi!

God I love dual-loops. Good ****.

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

Yess someone understands! hahah

Ahryi 1 point 7 months ago

You know it. One of my favorite albums. Sad Machine and Goodbye To A World easily make it into my top 10 songs of all time. And you found a damn good wallpaper to top it off.

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

Fellow Feeling always puts me in the feels too. And of course Language because I associate it with how he ends his sets. Kinda bummed I only got to see the Worlds tour once, but Virtual Self is starting to grow on me. Good to see a fellow fan on here!

DRogGTX 3 points 7 months ago

You should have called it Cotton Candy... way better name than Sad Machine...

+1 Amazing Build!

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 0 points 7 months ago

Hahah its based off a song from one of my favorite artists. The music video and album art were where I drew the color scheme from

Wolklung 3 points 7 months ago

This is just brilliant.

Love those temp screens built into the loops.

GhostDog99 2 Builds 3 points 7 months ago

very nice build +1 I'm not a big fan of the colors but other than that is a personal thing the build its self is very clean and well done really good work mate

Zolten 3 points 7 months ago

I made an account just to upvote this.

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

You're awesome. hahah thank you!

SirHalpin 1 Build 2 points 7 months ago

I'm not surprised much anymore by builds....but this really did it. Each picture had me more and more impressed. All I can say is congratulations and good work. This is easily one of the most gorgeous computers I have ever seen. I disapprove of the 960 EVO M.2s due to their severely low performance/cost for an NVMe, but besides that this whole setup is perfect. +10

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 3 points 7 months ago

Thanks man! I really appreciate that. Also, I decided to go with the M.2's to avoid excessive wiring and to free up space in the back, but I totally understand what you mean. If I were to do it again, I wouldn't go that route lol

SirHalpin 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

of course, and congrats on the feature, you deserve it for sure, I keep seeing these pictures and my jaw drops every time. This makes my current upgrade feel so lackluster and unimpressive haha. But I don't have anything against NMVe or M.2, in fact im using a Samsung 512Gb 960 PRO- its just that the 960 EVO is like.....a disappointing child haha like I'm not really sure why they released it. Performance is comparable to a 2.5" and features speed that seem out of place on a M.2, that's all- it's by no means a bad drive, just kind of a 2.5" in a M.2 suit basically lol. It's funny that your build is structured like this- it's essentially the exact manifestation of how I want my endgame build to look. Same case, double loop, double reservoir, dual color, powerful and clean as hell. I can't commend you enough on this.

AlexDMV 2 points 7 months ago

If this doesn't get featured I'm deleting my account on this website... This build is honestly fantastic. Like literally bookmark worthy LMAO. This is the most beautiful computer I have ever seen... and I truly mean that. +1 for sure.

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 2 points 7 months ago

I appreciate the dedication! hahaha thank you!

AlexDMV 1 point 7 months ago

Well done.

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 2 points 7 months ago

Thank you! I had to pay homage to my favorite dj haha. Glad to see a fellow fan!

Vortexxian 4 Builds 2 points 7 months ago

xconnor 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

no problem. i got to see porter live and it was one of the best concerts i have ever been to. i have yet to see virtual self perform though :/

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

I’ve gotten lucky enough to see his Worlds set, Shelter set twice, some dj sets, and more recently virtual self (which was really cool) in the course of the past two and a half years hahah.

Yeah I’m a fanboy lol

mrahobo120 2 points 1 month ago

the way you layed out your colour scheme. DAMN +1

Very very cool build and desktop, upvote

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

Thank you!

cmdr_flint 2 Builds 1 point 7 months ago

Simply stunning, a showcase for some serious pc building skill right here :)

Shame about the 8700k not being stable for 5GHz, but at least with that awesome loop you can keep it nice n cool!

I definitely wouldn't push past 1.4v to get 5ghz, 1.45v is about where you'll start to significantly shorten the lifespan of the CPU. I think I got lucky with mine, it'll do 5Ghz at 1.29 and can push to 5.2GHz with 1.33.. and that's without delidding, silicon lottery can be a cruel mistress!

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

I really feel like I lost the silicon lottery here, 4.8ghz is already pushing 1.35 lol. A little upset, but nothing to gripe over. But your numbers are impressive!

badmini 1 point 7 months ago

8700K his list says it's a 7700K?

cmdr_flint 2 Builds 1 point 7 months ago

You're right, I must have misread the parts list... Blame it on lack of sleep!

Slingshott 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

Since anyone hasn’t said it yet... I call a feature.

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

Hahah fingers crossed! Thank you!

Bohrzor 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

WOW. How loud is it with those fans?

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 2 points 7 months ago

Very quiet actually. The CPU fans under normal load typically run 700-1000rpm under normal load, and the gpu fans are around 1000-1100rpm. Of course under bigger loads it gets a little louder but I'm happy with how quiet it is now

Robd82 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

Drop dead gorgeous. Congrats man, she is beautiful.

VirtualSelf 1 point 7 months ago

Your mind is a world. Each of us is a place. Bravo builder.

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

Love it and love the fact your name is virtual self lol can’t wait to see him next month at EDC!

VirtualSelf 2 points 7 months ago

I love you.

jaymo95 1 point 7 months ago

Wow this is incredible. I am also looking to do a custom loop, but I'm not sure how to approach it, or maybe need to do more research, can you provide information on how you ended up choosing the best parts for your flow?? Thanks!

thebream 1 point 7 months ago

Thats some serious eye candy.

thebream 1 point 7 months ago

btw how quiet is it with 12 fans, 2 pumps and fans in push/pull config?

Is a custom loop is the only way to have both silence and high performance?

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 2 points 7 months ago

Its not bad at all! I even have the pumps set to level 4 of 5, but with a combination of delidding and the amount of fans, i dont need to run high RPMs to keep the water cool. I'm sure with other cases that have better air intake, i could have gone with less fans, but I love the style of this case.

To be honest, its not. Ive seen some great quiet builds without watercooling using AIO's or some really good fans like Noctua. But for the longest time, I've always wanted to try a custom loop, and I just really like the way it looks haha

badmini 1 point 7 months ago

What monitor is that?

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

Alienware AW3418DW, highly recommended

beardedmisfit 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

B-E- A- UTIFUL Great job man. This is up there with my favourite builds!

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

Thanks man that means a lot!

blaine244 7 Builds 1 point 7 months ago

I want to make a liquid cooled pc, just feel like I won't do it right and it will leak when I boot it for the first time.

Yours is absolutely beautiful I want to do one that is white and blue.

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

Just make sure to use proper fittings secured tightly, use a atx bridge to power on the PSU when you test it so all your components arent running, and wrap the fittings with a paper towel and let it run. You'll see if theres any leaks by the colored fluid on the paper towel. Believe me, I've had my share of leaks and installing, readjusting and moving the setup around, but once you get the hang of how it works, its not so bad and not that hard to fix either.

blaine244 7 Builds 1 point 7 months ago

Appreciate it I have pictures of a define S I painted blue and white was thinking of using a threadripper CPU I've already made the power supply cables for it.

MichealJoeden 1 point 7 months ago

I was in awe at the sight of a dual loop with such a vibrant color scheme, then I saw it was a first time build... and nearly died.

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

Hahah thank you! Took a lot of planning and improperly bent tubes to finally get it right, but glad it paid off!

How I Poor My PC $ 300 Your Computer 4000 :(

minininjatriforceman 1 point 7 months ago

Damn son to be honest I would have not known that it was your first build. Custom loops are hard and take a lot of planning and require a lot of knowledge that comes from experience. Color me impressed.

8bitbro 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

Hmmmm, so if a pc and the unicorn frappuccino from starbucks had a baby, this is what it would look like. Or maybe the Cheshire cat had its way with it? I'm lost with words right now. In all seriousness though, very well done. It looks like you actually thought about the colors you wanted and made it happen. It doesn't look like a rave party in a box. Kudos and +1

HydroDragonN 1 point 7 months ago

Thanks!

G3ORG3Douj88 1 point 7 months ago

You should've gone with the coffeelake i7 8700k and switched to the very similar maximus x hero motherboard like I did, yet this is an aMAZINGGG build, soooo beautiful and be proud, hardline watercooling is hard, especially for your first build. I started planning my first build around the same time and finished mine a week ago and guess what, mine was watercooled too, but yours is definetley a lot more impressive. Anyways, great job on your PC and I hope to see you more on this site :D

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

I really wish I could have, but when I pieced this together, coffeelake wasnt out yet :( im gonna hold off til 9th gen maybe since I havent even had this for a year yet and its been holding up well for what im using it for. But congrats on finally finishing your build too! Its a satisfying feeling

G3ORG3Douj88 1 point 7 months ago

Yess, satisfying indeed, still super jealous of your build :), anyways, keep up the good work.

chinamanch 5 Builds 1 point 7 months ago

I feel really sad here....... :( Funtastik build you got here dude !!

Edition1 1 point 7 months ago

I find it hard to believe this is your first build but if it is very well done, you have done an amazing job!

Why didn't you go for 8700k?

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

At the time I pieced this together, the 8700K wasnt out yet. As tempted as I am to change to it, I've spent enough time and money on it so far, and just want to enjoy it for a bit. Maybe wait for the 9th gen cpus. But thank you!

tech_geek100 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

Do the Reservoirs have a drain spot on them or is it just a logo on the holding bracket?

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

If im thinking what youre talking about, the pump top have the Singularity Computers logo printed on them. My drain valves are on the right of the pink reservoirs pump and at the very bottom right of the bottom radiator towards the middle

SilentTalon 1 point 7 months ago

See it now on Picture 7 and 8 after you pointed it out.

CoDAWUAV 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

This is no Sad Machine. How is this your first build? My first build looks like ***. I think it's cool and you did a good job, but subconsciously I'm triggered because like I said, my first build looked like it was trying to find a way to die. Nice job

EmeraldTiger64 1 point 7 months ago

This build looks absolutely beautiful. Great job on this build man.

KusHusky 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

This is..super dooopppppeeeeee

ChrisMMusic 1 point 7 months ago

Is that front I/O panel custom etched? If not, I still need this case. This build is not only amazing, but it also makes you atractted to it being that I don't have enough money for something that, I wish I did, but the thought still counts.

BabyCaronyx 1 point 7 months ago

Now when it comes to art I am no professional, but I have to say your build is a masterpiece. Nice work man, you make the rig on my desk look like complete pile of crap. (:

bmccarthy8989 10 Builds 1 point 7 months ago

+1 just for using Singularity Computers parts. And another +1 for the build why not. Wish we could see whats going on behind closed doors if you know what I mean.

Quite late, but your build honestly makes me REALLY regret not having done a custom loop on my build. This thing is a masterpiece. I can't help but notice that you mentioned EDC! Are you going to see Porter's DJ at Caesar's on the first Thursday???

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 6 months ago

I wish I could make it but I can't leave for Vegas til Friday morning :'( I recently saw him at Countdown NYE and in San diego in March. Hoping to see Virtual Self at EDC, but if not I definitely will at Hard Summer!

God I want this so bad. Lian Li definitely outdid themselves with the case, if only it were a little cheaper...

daUnitedpotato 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

I'm amazed when people create builds as beautiful as this one and it's their first build.

Nonetheless, beautiful build. Love the part list too. A little jealous you were able to get 32GB of RAM for under $400.

A majority of it is in part list. To add to it, Monsoon Hardline Economy V2 fittings, Monsoon 3/8 x 1/2 tubing, Watercool Heatkiller IV Pro CPU block, a bunch of different Bitspower fittings, and Mayhems Pastel Coolant

debuq 1 point 5 months ago

I look at this, and maybe my age is showing here, but it reminds me of the cover of one of my favorite albums.

I would have had to have named your build:

Pretty Hate Machine

Greyhound_DJ 1 point 5 months ago

Crazy build! Question is where did you get the money for all of this? XD

Best part of course is the Sad Machine reference. Porter Robinson is a straight up legend 【=◈︿◈=】

Ruling_elite 1 point 5 months ago

THAT is ur first build? DAM! Some master builders cant even make it that good. Nice work dude!

oubja07 1 point 4 months ago

Damn 2.0XD

miror 1 point 4 months ago

Where did you purchase the pink/blue Cables? Amazing work!!

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 2 points 4 months ago

I ordered them custom from ensourced.net, i highly recommend them!

Squid_Soup 1 point 4 months ago

Hey, nice build by the way, but I noticed your build included G. Skill Trident Z RAM sticks. I have a question about them. Can I buy 2 8GB RAM sticks right now, and later on, install 2 MORE RAM sticks? Thanks! I'm just curious since i don't feel like spending an extra $100-$200 right now.

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 2 points 4 months ago

Thanks! From my understanding, yes you can but when you add more, make sure it’s the exact same model/speed. For nitpickers, they say if you can, get all four in the same batch so they match better. Of course, this was before ram prices shot up so it was easier said than done. But honestly 16gb is still plenty as it is unless you plan on doing more task intensive stuff like editing. Happy building!

Squid_Soup 1 point 4 months ago

Thank you so much! I will definitely use your advice!

scrubyshawn 1 point 4 months ago

What did you use to mount the pumps to the fans? I'm really curious because I also want to do a dual loop in the PC-011

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 4 months ago

I used the single mounts from Singularity Computers. Really good quality imo

moldyglint 1 point 4 months ago

By far the most beautiful build I've ever seen.. What do you use to control all of the leds??

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 4 months ago

Thank you!

I purposely went with Corsair fans and LED strips because their Commander Pro unit makes it simple to connect and control with Corsair Link. The mobo lighting and ram is controlled through Asus Aura

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 2 points 4 months ago

Ill eventually get around to getting a custom cut backlit gpu backplate cover with the porter kaomoji on it!

SGrymkoski 1 point 4 months ago

Ooo that'd be a very nice touch. Can't wait to see it!

MrShinny 1 point 4 months ago

Can I steal some of your bends? O.o

That build is so f** sexy. You should start getting into extreme modding. I bet you would be great at that.

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 4 months ago

Hahaha thanks! I’m actually helping my friend play out a Hackintosh build and modding put an old Powermac G5 case. I’ll post that when we get started!

"After months of researching, learning, and shopping, I finally pulled the trigger and did my first watercooling loop."

Could you recommend some resources to get started? I would love to get in to this.

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

To be honest, watching tech youtubers like JayzTwoCents gave me an idea of how things worked, as well as r/watercooling on reddit. From there I just spent a lot of time researching products and reading reviews wherever I could find. If you have any questions, Id be glad to help, just shoot me a message on here!

gbpacks2 1 point 2 months ago

Can you confirm if you have/havnt had the lighting issue with the temperature gauges the reviews are plagued with?

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Im unaware of what people were saying with the lighting, but when I had them in, they did seem off. I actually removed them, the wire wrapping on them is so badly done that it had somehow stripped and shorted without me knowing and started smoking. I managed to catch it before anything catastrophic happened and removed them from the system immediately. I wouldnt recommend them.

gbpacks2 1 point 2 months ago

Thanks for the info man! Congrats on your build man it is absolutely fantastic aesthetically. Im just about done with my first build and i am aiming toward silent high performance gaming, but my silent case sacrafices the visual aspect as it has no clear panels, instead they are all coated in sound dampening material

getbretweir 1 point 2 months ago

Unbelievable. I'm mapping out my first build, so the past month I've viewed hundreds, maybe even thousands of PCs. This is easily the nicest one. Just amazing how beautiful it is ... Like a piece of art. Great job!

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Thank you! If there’s anything I can do to help you plan out your build, just send a message!

getbretweir 1 point 2 months ago

I appreciate that, and I'll definitely take you up on that offer. Eventually I'm gonna have to pull the trigger, but I keep going back and forth with my CPU/GPU. Choices are either i5 8400/8600 vs Ryzen 2600/2600x, and 1060 6GB vs 1070.

Mostly be used for gaming, watching video, and just messing around online. I have a single 1080p display, and might upgrade to a 1440p down the road, but I don't know. And I'd rather not worry about overclocking if I don't have to, so whichever combo is most efficient out of the box is what I'd prefer.

The downside to the Ryzen chips is the compatible components I'm choosing are more expensive. For instance, the Trident Z RGB (which is what I definitely want) optimized for AMD costs $40-50 more, and the motherboard (Asus rog strix w built in wifi) is $208 for Ryzen and and only $127 for Intel.

That $130 savings would go to a 1070 instead of the 1060 6gb I'd get with AMD.

What would you suggest?

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

For the same price as the 2600x, I’d do the 8600k. 259 at bh photo video. You’ll have good overclocking potential with it if you ever decide to go that route and save on the components but it’s base close is still 3.6ghz which is good. Still a 6 core too. Definitely go with the faster clock speed cpu because 1080p will go more off that than the gpu. Once you go 1440p, then the 1070 will play a greater factor in gaming performance.

Have you decided on what kind of cooling you’re doing? The wraith that the 2600x comes with can help save costs too if you haven’t decided on that. But if you already decided on a better cooling solution then disregard that

getbretweir 1 point 2 months ago

A lot of this stuff is intertwined, and much of it has to do with my 1080p single monitor and whether or not I'll overclock. I've never had a gaming PC before, so I really don't know. I also want to insulate myself from future AAA titles, so I'm deciding if I should assume I'll have the 1080p single monitor, or if I'll want to get a 1440p to replace it, or set it side by side.

Most things I buy in general, I opt to spend a little more, even if it means I have to wait a bit longer to save up. I'd hate if in a year from now, and Red Dead Redemption 2 comes out, and I'm wishing for a better GPU.

The 8400 isn't unlocked, whereas the 8600k is. I think it'd be smarter to opt for that, along with the 1070 GPU. Accounting for the motherboard I'll want to get with that combo, it's less than $200 more, which isn't much for what I'll be getting.

Yeah, the 1080p monitor won't take advantage of the 1070 card, but for an extra $100 over the 1060 6gb, I'll have future proofed it a bit, and if I do decide to get a 1440p, I'll already have a card that's compatible.

The GPU will be unlocked, and same deal, if I chose to OC it, I'll have that flexibility.

As far as the cooling, I planned on getting the Cryorig H7 quad lumi ... It looks like a solid cooler and I like the aesthetics.

rogdog56 1 point 2 months ago

Wow, this is amazing. I wouldn't be sad if I owned this build, lol. Is that firecuda good? how fast is it relative to a normal HDD?

rhodeislisanickname 1 point 1 month ago

How’s the Maximus X hero? I’m interested in it for my own build.

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

It’s good! Stable, easily overclockable, looks good and has a good amount of features. I used the hero ix with the 7700k I had in this before and the ease of use convinced me to stick with Asus Mobos

rhodeislisanickname 1 point 1 month ago

Hey thanks! I knew it was already a pretty nice board but I always like to get reviews from real people, not just promotional ads.

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

No problem! I stand by their Maximus line. If I could have used a Maximus board for my upcoming threadripper build I could, but I can’t justify the price for the zenith extreme boards so i opted to be a little different and try out the ASRock mATX board for threadripper lol

ninamarie8253 1 point 1 month ago

This is truly the most beautiful PC build I've ever seen.

Boodie 1 point 1 month ago

Great job. It shows everything was planned and created right down to the smallest detail. The colors are beautiful. and that desk is a d esk I been looking for to replace my current desk. amazing.

If you dont mind me asking, I calculated the cost of the pieces you had for the custom loop and looks like it was around $400ish, does that sound right? I wanted to do a custom loop so bad (never done one before) but decided I might just get an AIO. But then I saw this and now back to considering doing a custom loop. First I gotta decide on a processor though lol (wanted the 8700k but the price increased close to 100 dollars when I saw it was for $300 at micro center last week, but its either that or 2700X i am considering). If you can let me know how much the custom loop factored into the price of the build, that will finalize my decision on what to do. I have the Phanteks Evolv X and its such a beauty and deserves the best :D.

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

Thank you! I appreciate it! :)

To be honest, it will be closer to 6-700 bucks for everything. Not all of the parts for the loop are listed. It looks like I forgot to add the cpu and gpu block. Of course itll vary between what parts you use (some of the parts I opted to use are a little more on the pricier side), what size radiator youll want, and the unpredictable amount for fittings. I believe the CPU block i chose from Watercool was about 88 bucks and the GPU block was about 120ish. I agree on price point, its pretty pricey for what it is, but I wanted my build to be something I was proud of.

Youll also need to factor in maintenance. To most people it can get frustrating but for enthusiasts, its worth it and not at all bad once you get used to it. But it definitely doesnt beat the convenience of an AIO. I must say though, a custom loop in an Evolv X would look great, plenty of space to work with. If I were in the market for a new case, it would definitely be that one. Good choice!

Any other questions, feel free to message me!

loganbell2355 1 point 26 days ago

Amazing first build, but i think you should of used a better cpu for that budget. But that’s one good build!

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 25 days ago

At the time, I got the 8700K for $200 through an accommodation at work, I couldn't say no hahah

loganbell2355 1 point 25 days ago

Wow nice price for that cpu! and i get it.

loganbell2355 1 point 25 days ago

I also think if you could or want to, you should maybe upgrade to a core i9. I know if you did, it would probably be a big hassle because of all the hard tubing.

PatitoStark 1 point 23 days ago

Hi,

you pc is awesome. good job,

How did you install 3 fans below the case?

How did you pass the 3 wires of the fans to connect them to the fan hub?

XXRAYZOR submitter 1 Build 1 point 18 days ago

Thank you! The bottom of the case is mesh, so i removed the dust filter and screwed it into the other side of the radiator. Then I cut out a hole in the mesh to run the wires through to the backside where the fan hub is

PatitoStark 1 point 10 days ago

can you show me that
