Description

I decided it was time to upgrade from my Inspiron 530. The HDD was so slow. It took nearly 2 min just to boot up to the password and another 5 min just to load everything up. Plus it lagged on everything. I had major lag spikes just playing NBA 2k13 and watching 720p videos.

This is my first build. I can say that my cable management is not the best but I can live with it. I bought everything from Newegg except the Gskill Ram and my GPU which hasn't come yet. The GPU is coming in on Saturday. Short story about the RAM. I originaly purchased the G SKill Ram from a friend for 30 bucks. As I was about to check out from Newegg, they threw in an extra 8gb of Ram. Why not?

Boot time takes about 20 - 30 seconds. The idle temp. is about 25 - 28C. I have not put this thing under load yet.

The prices I paid :

CPU- $230

CPU Cooler - $35

Mobo- $100

GSkill RAM- $30

Corsair RAM- FREE :D

HDD- $70

GPU- $200 (Greatest deal ever. A 7950 for 200. Sweet :D)

Case- $110

PSU- $60

Optical Drive- $17

Monitor- $110

Keyboard- $40 (I couldn't find the keyboard I have but it is a Thermaltake Knucker Gaming Keyboard.)

Mouse- $5 (Got the mouse from a friend. Retail is around 45. Couldn't pass that up.)

OS- FREE :D

Nice build! Although an SSD would be a great addition for this build. I have seen some pretty horrible reviews of that monitor, how is it?

Its ok does what its supposed to do. I picked it out last minute. Was on sale. ONly thing i don't like is that the power buttons etc are on the bottom not the side or on the front. Other than that nothing really. And yes i agree i shou;d have gone with an ssd but my budget was 1000 and i really couldn't find any room in the budget for it.

I am wondering where you got that GPU at, I would love to pick one up for my build that I am working on. Any information would be helpful. Also, where did you get a free copy of Window's 7 at?

Are your temperatures ok with the rear exhaust fan all the way against the wall like that?

Yes, I moved my PC under my desk but it sticks a bit for more space in the back for air flow as well as a place to dump cables.
