Updated my build from summer '13 with two new STRIX 970s and the ROG Swift.
Your RAM sticks should be in slots 1&3 or 2&4 not 1&2. You will take advantage of dual channel RAM that way.
Fixed that after
Just checking! :)
Turns out the manual calls for them to be in 2&4, I guess that's why I did that in the first place
You spent slightly to much on the motherboard, and for gaming an i5 would have been fine. 500GB SSD!!! Thanks kind of overkill although I guess you won't need a HDD. So it's much quieter. Your case has got lots of cable management so you should utilise it. Other than that your part choices were really good you've gone with some really good makes that will last you ages. Why do you need a Blu-Ray writer?
Some people dont buy it for the "perks" i mean the mobo does look pretty bada*s
oops, I actually didn't buy the blu ray writer after. I probably will at some point, at the very least a blu ray combo drive. Its just nice to have, I still have piles of discs from ages ago. I just ordered a WD blue 1tb drive actually, just to load up with music and pics and other stuff that doesn't really require SSD performance.
good part choices, but the cable management just hurts to look at. what are the temps?
I haven't put any time or thought into that part of it yet, I'd be lying if I said I was meticulous about that kinda thing. I only just got up and running, so I'll pull some average temps later. Just tried the Nvidia Faceworks demo, absolutely insane.
Why get the i7 instead of the i5 to save some money?
You've gone overboard on a couple things like the RAM (8 GB should be fine for anything except heavy graphics/video editing), the SSD and the CPU (i7 doesn't have a performance boost over the i5).
But on the bright side, this build will kick butt for more than a couple years.
Tidy up that cable management and you're set.
I'm going back to school in sept for 2 years so I wanted to be good for as long as possible, while I'm making about $2000 a week with minimal bills. Yes, I could have gone and got like 3 titans or something but this will do for 1080p, I just use my 46" Samsung as my primary. I was actually gonna get a 780 but was talked out of it. This should do me for now and hopefully make the transition to 4k when I'm out of school.
BF3 runs like UT99 used to run on my old computer. Its amazing.
fix the cables, you makin me cry T_T
how about now?
