Description

(Sorry for potato pics)

Hello!

This is now my second PC build on this website. This build was intended for family home use and streaming Netflix and ESPN. My budget was $200 and I bought most of the parts on Black Friday. I tried some games on it as well such as Minecraft and LoL.

CPU: Very good for the price since it was on sale. It is very fast and doesn't show any lag for now.

Motherboard: Cheap, has what I need

RAM: 4 GB is enough for now

HDD: Recycled from my old laptop

Case/Psu: Had good reviews, power supply is surprisingly reliable. Warning: the case is very sharp around the i/o shield, I cut my finger on it

Edit: Friend gave me his old gt 640 to use. It runs games better than my laptop so I might stick with this for gaming.

Yeah! We need more of these on here. Give people ideas for what they can build for a family member. heck, add a video card and you're good to go for entry level gaming!!

Good looking part list though I would have gone with windows 8at this point. Do you have any picks of the inside? Did you already have windows or was this a $300 build?

all and all its a great build.

Thank You! I already had Windows 8 since my dad's work place can get them for free.

Pics of the inside would be nice. Overall pretty good for $200.

How well does it run LoL?

I would've went the AMD route on APU and got the A10-5800K.

Good build, though.

I agree especially with that high ram speed, but this CPU is no where near the top of the line for this socket where the A10 is. So this build can be upgraded further.

Good stuff. I'd personally have gone with an APU for gaming's sake, but I imagine your options were limited for the Black Friday deals. I'd like to see how that Rosewill case + PSU holds up, usually buying a case that includes a PSU is a huge no-no but at the i3's low power draw, it can't possibly be that much of an issue.

Also you have good taste in mice :D

SuryaM submitter 9 Builds 1 point 34 months ago

Yeah, the mouse was the only wired one I had on hand at the moment

Do you play Minecraft or LoL? I'm thinking about letting my girlfriend build this for her first time. :)

SuryaM submitter 9 Builds 2 points 34 months ago

Yes in fact I play both but I primarily use my laptop though. This desktop handles LoL at 60 FPS at Ultra with AA but turn off shadows or you can expect to get around 40 FPS. Minecraft also works well but turn the render distance down a bit and shadows to minimum.

Great build, but I would recommend an APU if it's going to be used for light gaming, but other than that, good job.

Great budget build but do you plan on buying a gpu later on?

SuryaM submitter 9 Builds 1 point 34 months ago

Idk, I game on my laptop though but I may add one later one like the gtx 750 ti
