Description

Basic Bedroom HTPC maybe a future gaming rig who knows edit I added a 1050ti I got for $120. Access to my steam games on another PC is worth it.

Part Reviews

CPU

$57 and a coupon to wipe out the chicago sales tax? So lucky I have a friend who leaves near microcenter. Can't be beat for the price

Motherboard

Cheap Motherboard that get's the job done

Memory

Cheapest ram I can find and it worked

Storage

It's an ssd so it's inherently better than an hdd and no system should not have one.

Case

Bad Cable Management, came damaged, and doesn't even stand up straight because the glued on legs fell off during moving it around. But, it was free because it came damaged

Power Supply

600w psu for $20 shipped I'll take it

Dayum that looks sick! And I mean that in a literal sense, not figuratively =)

Believe it or not I spent hours trying to cable manage. I even thought of taking some of my aluminum cutters and seeing what I could do. Thing is loud but I have an SSD in there so I can shut it down when I sleep and boot really quickly. Don't know why a budget case needs led fans. Looks bad imo. No usb 3.0 even on front panel but I had a hub lying around

If you turn this into a gaming rig what graphics card will you use?

Thinking of grabbing a 1050ti from evga b stock for $120 ish. Or should I go lower? TV is 1366x768

1366x768 1050 or 1030 will be fine for most AAA games on high or medium respectively.

I have one of those keyboards - pretty mushy, but it's cheap. I'm also fairly convinced that the case is the same as the FBM series, just branded differently and given an LED fan. Same lack of cable management, and same overall layout.

Nice budget box, hope it serves you well.

And the horror show of cable management continues will upload additional pic with harddisk

Honestly, as far as cables go, you can't do much better than that - not with a case of this sort. I'd say you did well for what it's worth.

I really like what you have done for the price here. I have a similar rig hooked to my tv. Having a full blown htpc connected to your tv gives you the most viewing options. By the way how did you get windows for $10 ? Overall a big thumbs up.

PS you can always work on cable management later.

I googled windows 10 licenses and found the cheapest one I could from a resailer that seemed to have good reviews. I think it was electronics first. I actually added a $120 b stock 1050ti. Perfect little htpc minus the blue led I want to cut out
