Originally, i was gaming on a $500 2.5 year old laptop. then my cousin convinced me to build my own computer. i had alot of issues getting windows to run, but after about 2 days i got it to boot up and run well. ive only tested this with fallout:new vegas, ad it runs at >35 fps on ultra. i slightly overclocked my cpu just cuz i felt like it. so far, Im really happy with this build and im really happy with the outcome.

I also got the windows 7 product key pretty cheap on ebay. (a gamble, i know. but it paid off.)

the etire system boots up in 20 seconds with my ssd.

i got both my ssd and my hdd refurbished. (hence the price)

i only got 1x8 ram because i plan on doing more things (screen recording, ect.) and i want to upgrade.

i also plan on upgrading my processor to the amd fx 4.0 GHz 8 core

My laptop had absolutely horrid cooling, so i made that a high focus in this build.

I also thought it would be worth mentioning that the gpu DID fit with the hd cage in this case. it is an extremely tight fit, but it works.

i took out the hard drive cage because i dont need it and for better cooling

A few things I think could've been changed:

-FX-4350 for a 6300, more cores, more L3 cache and cheaper (usually) -The video card. If you really paid $264 for it, you could've gotten a gtx 760 oced or maybe a cheaper 7950 for better performance at the price. -Maybe the PSU, preferably a different brand

I won't rip you since I obviously made mistakes on my own "build" so just suggestions from my experiences. The rest is pretty good, cable management could always be better but I don't care much for it in budget builds.

thanks for your feedback! yeah i was thinking about getting a cheaper gpu, but with the high focus on cooling, this one really appealed to me.

Good build! I'm guessing your doing multiple screens? only reason for a 4 gb card.

And make sure that monster isn't sucking up carpet dust! keep it off the carpet when its running! at least put it on something.

This is a grand build, but your choice of gpu is a little odd. For that pricerange you could have gotten a 760 with the same 4gb.

i went with this gpu because, going from a laptop, i wanted good cooling. i really like radeon and with this cards cooling, i couldnt say no.

Yah, but there are plenty of 7950's in this price range with similair/ better cooling and far better performance. Plus blower type GPU's run hotter than multiple fan GPU's, the reason for running a blower type GPU is to keep the CPU cooler by sucking air out the back of the case, instead of blowing air through the GPU into the case. If that makes sense. Anywho such nitpickings are trivial, just enjoy your build as we all know you will.

i really like it. its alot faster than my laptop(which was 5400 rpms) i just finished everything last night, so i havnt tested it much. but so far i love everything about it!

I also heard from my best friend that the cooler master megaflow can get quite loud, he also owns two of those. Do you think they are loud, or is he just acting spoiled :P ?

i think the megaflows can get loud. usually though,even under heavy load, they run pretty quietly.

i really like it. stays pretty cool. obviously, in hindsight i could have saved some money on this, or gotten a better one for the same price, but its my first build, and im happy with it.

It's I pretty good build, but I would have recommended going with a better motherboard (the MSI G43A is pretty awesome) because this Motherboard may be 'okay' but for what you get(some baseline features and the Asus name slapped on it), but there are cheaper MoBo's(like the MSI G43) that are way better than this(not to say this is bad), and(although I understand your logic behind the RAM) starting off with 2 sticks of RAM instead of just the one, just to be able to use dual-channel RAM.

And like another user already said, I won't judge you very much, there was a TON of stuff I could have improved about my own first build, but yours is a really good build. +1
