Description

Hi all. This is CLARA_2017.

When my brother wanted to upgrade his cpu, mobo, and memory to the latest platform I saw an opportunity to build my first computer and save us both some money. 2017 was a pleasant time before inflated gpu prices and purchasing a decent gpu was reasonable so I grabbed a 1070sc for $370 (remember those days!?). I stuck with companies I knew and bought the rest of the components to build a rig intended for 1080p couch gaming. A co-worker of mine had shown me his arcade machine rig he put together for Hyperspin, an emulator system with all the old games to play together with friends. I knew I wanted to include this in my build, and it is nice to have the ability to jump from modern games to SEGA and Nintendo classics. I have the Hyperspin on an external hard drive which sits on top of the case that you can see in the pictures. (Don’t worry it does not interfere with the exhausts temps).

I used this setup for gaming only, I don’t even have Microsoft Office installed. I use vertical sync to achieve the most constant 60FPS I can get on 1080p and the 1070sc is a good workhorse to help the 4770k from 2013. On a couple games with high demand there are some jitters and those were put to rest with the upgraded CLARA_2.0.

I did not see the Arctic Freezer 7 Pro cooler on this website but that is the cooler featured. It did its job and would see cpu highs of 61 – 66 °C while playing games.

After having the rig for a few months I made a lapboard with an XL Glorious Gaming mousepad and that really completed the setup (see pictures). I also added a 1TB 860 Evo after two years.

Hope you like my first build, check out the upgrade here: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/LZYTwP

I know the computer is on the carpet. My brother and I have had multiple computers for years on different carpets and nothing has ever happened, but I will let you know if it does!

Game on!

I use this for my computer on carpet

I love living room setups. Have you perhaps thought about using Kodi to maybe clean up the look a bit? A classic windows desktop on a TV makes me cringe. I have a nice HTPC setup with Emu/Roms incorporated as well my modern games through steam and other launchers. If you're interested I could give a couple of pointers on where to start.

I like it. Nice GPU and that 4770k is a strong overclocker.

Thumbs up.

Hey I could get two tiles as well, when I removed the psu for the upgrade it was surprisingly clean after two years. I was cleaning the girl once or twice month during that time. Vader is straddling the expansion drive that has hyperspin on it.
