So first off, the RAM on the list is not the ram I used, which is 8gb of something I couldn't find on pcpp, heck, I couldn't even find the name on the dimms. Just wanted to get that out of the way so I wouldn't start a war. But anyways, it can run games like overwatch, csgo, video edit, etc. amazingly. It's also pretty quiet, every thing is amazing about it. The Pentium certainly puts a bottleneck on the RX 480, which is to certainly be expected, but it seems to work and I'm hoping to buy an i5 pretty soon. I'll probably post updates too! Thanks for any feedback.

Part Reviews

Budget friendly, power efficient, powerful little piece of equipment.

No USB 3.0 ports, but otherwise, amazing for the price. Gets the job done in a tight budget situation.

Insanely budget friendly and fast SSD, couldn't be happier with it. I boot insanely fast, definitely recommend.

Cheap and gets the job done, at decent speeds.

Video Card

Amazing video card for the price, and I hope to do VR very soon. Hard to get though....

Insane for the price, it's got a USB 3.0 port, a few bells and whistles, but it's definitely on the lower quality side, but who's to expect that from a $30 case. A few screw holes were threaded out, but they weren't vital ones. Definitely recommend.

Power Supply

Isn't the greatest, but works

Awesome budget build! Love that little Pentium. I've been meaning to throw in an RX 480 with mine, how do they pair?

LiamTheHuman submitter 1 Build 2 points 20 months ago

Very well, but I don't have too much of a bottleneck with triple monitors. I'd suggest a good overclock on the pentium if you plan to do so. Maybe 4.0-4.5

Zveir 9 Builds 1 point 20 months ago

I usually have mine at 4.4 @1.2V. The highest I've ever gotten it was 4.9 @1.36V. There was a decent difference between the two, but I don't really wanna leave it running like that forever.

Also that's good to hear. I'm going to use my Pentium build as a 4K emulator, for Nintendo games and PS2 games. It should handle that well.

the prob is most newer games wont start with a dual-core (without HT) anymore..

Xizt 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

Nope, that's only Far Cry 4 IIRC. And thats because the game starts on core 3 for some reason (thats just bad code)

Pladdaah 2 Builds 1 point 20 months ago

ehm no? there is a workaround , but there some games which just wont start without it

If you really want to know about your ram, you can install and run CPU-Z.

You can get the H81m-e34 version with usb 3.0 for only 50 bucks on amazon

I think you could buy an Hyper 212 Evo and do some OC to the Pentium so it doesn't bottleneck the 480 :)

Sam.Troyer 1 point 20 months ago

One thing I'm worried about this PC is the CPU. Any word about bottle neck with this combo?

LiamTheHuman submitter 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

It's certainly there, but not too bad. Just be sure to put an oc on the chip.

Great Budget Intel Build, Dude!

Just one question: I'm planning to do a similar Budget build, but with a much older AM3 Quad-Core Phenom II X4 945. How is your Framerates in Games with the Visiontek 480, and should I worry a bit about my FPS due to the CPU Limit? (I don't like using the term "Bottleneck", I go for CPU or GPU Limit)

LiamTheHuman submitter 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

Thanks! FPS is definitely a bit lower than what you'd get with a gtx 950 or rx 460 due to the "CPU limit," but when I upgrade to an i5, which I plan to do on black friday this year, it'll be worth getting. I haven't been able to get overclocked much because of power issues, (the 430w isn't really worth getting, just go with 500w+) and I don't have a cpu cooler that I would trust a high oc with, planning on a hyper 212 and a case with more fans.

+1 for a nice build! Always nice to see a G3258 on lower-end builds and the triple monitor setup looks really nice. Have you tried overclocking your Pentium yet or are you just waiting for an i5? Also, how many frames are you getting on Overwatch?

LiamTheHuman submitter 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

Thanks! I had it overclocked to 4.1ghz, the motherboard was a bit weird for oc, but the 430w wasn't supplying enough power, since the rx 480 draws a ton. I get a constant 45-60 fps on overwatch, and when I go to an i5 I should have much more. The whole build's mainly something to get me by until black friday.

LiamTheHuman submitter 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

Another thing, with overwatch, there is no triple monitor support, so when setting it to 3 monitor resolutions, it will only appear on middle monitor, so it doesn't affect frames or anything if you're using single monitor, or at least it shouldn't, maybe a 5-10 fps difference max

not too bad for under 550.00.

It's actually pretty quiet for a reference card. It does get a bit loud during games, but most people have headphones on anyways, and with them on, you can't hear the fan.
