Description

Greetings from Israel

My First Personal Build that was made and built myself (with the help of my old man) for the purpose of replacing the xbox 360 and serve the whole family needs (my parents and brothers) like streaming, Movies, Music, Games, and a lot of other and better things that the xbox limited to.

It was home project as a habit at my free time which I studied everything from starch (what is maxwell, The new generation of CPU, GPU, MOBO, RAM)

This website helped me out so many times, when I was lost among the infinity and endless kinds, types or products of Hardware. So many details of every part, that you can't tell what is important (for example 1600MHz ram or 1333MHz)

All the parts were invited Separately (took 3-4 days), and took me 3-4 hours to build it up, and also 2 more hours, until I set-up with the OS from USB (Because I didn't buy optical drive) and installed the drivers of the Asrock Disk (which transferred to usb dok), Without the Asrock drivers I had to find the fu**ing LAN cable that was suppose to be gone of this world.

Originally I didn't plan to build it myself, My old man wanted his favorite pc store will invite all the parts, and assemble it up in there lab. So I sent to the store similar buy list description for the htpc.

But the seller was so huge idiot and pretty dumb. He ignored my list, made his own list with OC MOBO, but non OC CPU, same GPU without Ti. He also changed to more expensive antec case with smaller fans. When we insist to stay with the cooler Master Case, His dumbest respond was that the GPU 750 Ti will not fit into the Cooler Master Case. WTF! Fuc**ng Idiot!

We had got rid of him and stick to our true. So I can't name a better name for this project. because it's the family name

So about the parts: CPU- nothing to say here, wanted I5 because I knew it will last longer. I didn't wanted OC because I don't looked for high gaming.

GPU- GTX 750 Ti was chosen only because it was the most lowest voltage GPU the whole MARKET, point. I rejected all the others expect the GTX 970 that his voltage were in the second place after 750. But finally I took the cheapest.

RAM- nothing to say here, 1600Mhz, and 8GB was the recommended requirements for gaming. Also this kind of mobo couldn't deal with higher Mhz of ram like 1866 or 2100 Mhz so it would have a waste of money to spend for expensiver. Take it as a advice.

MOBO- Non OC mobo for non OC CPU, I took Asrock because it was cheap and popular. This one had also Wifi , Bluetooth adapter out of the box that were the reason I chosed it.

PSU- By calculation all the system needed only 200W, So I took 450 which are more than enough. CASE- Nice case with 120mm fans, took pretty long time to build into it that hardware, but I think it's just because my lack of experience. The case is bigger than what I imagined, and ever bigger compared the xbox which is a really deal breaker. My suggestion is think carefully of the size of your case, because it very had to find a small case. (there are no small case in Israel).

Overall- It's not loud at all, very nice, good in streaming, Playing on it arcade games like castle crusher, and more new hardcore games like Mortal Kombat 9, Injustice League, Arkham Origin (on ultra high!), COD Ghosts, Borderlands, Serious Sam, Resident Evil 5+6, Deadpool, AC:Black Flag. I guess the GPU will not last very long in the next high games like MK X, GTA V on high settings. But it was not the main purpose. But the GPU will be great for 4K and perhaps even 6K movies when we replacing the monitor to 4K quality. I am in love with the native support of the games in xbox controllers.

Wow nice build ,i have the same experience while on the pc stores too , the technician recommend some nonsense build that make everything goes wrong . stick with your own build that you get from your research . that will boost your satisfaction more :)

Nice build but you could have gone with a AMD video card due to the fact that their r9 270 is a BARGIAN because of its low MSRP

Let me know what you think......

The TDP of this card is pretty high (150W) I followed by this article's tips :Choose a low-TDP http://mymediaexperience.com/first-htpc-tips/

For his definition: Low was 60W, which this is why the GTX 750 ti was chosen. Maybe Afterall, I could take more TPD GPU but I didn't know this than.

If only the Gtx 960 was out when you bought this!

Even if it was , I still will buy the 130$ 750ti, the price is better

The 960 at it's current price is not a smart purchase. Either a 750 ti for much less money or the AMD equivalent is the better buy.

I honestly like the 960 and it seems more then enough imo but still I can see how buying the amd equivalent will give you more power at the cost of more wattage .

should have taken the AMD route for the CPU and got yourself the underrated 6300. That would have given you an extra $70 bucks on a more powerful GPU. Im just not sure on spending more for your CPU than for your GPU.

Its one of the biggest challenge in buildings. Some will say that I suppose to invest in gpu and other will say that the cpu need to be better focus. Some games need strong cpu but not gpu. And othera doesnt use the cpu at all. I guess its depend on the game

Hello! I'm new to all this so I apologize ahead of time if my questions are dumb. I'm really looking for a desktop that can play arma, dayz, h1z1, minecraft, league of legends, etc! But also (possibly in the future) i would really like to start streaming. I don't have a lot of money, and im sick of playing on my laptop. This seemed like a good price for the parts. Also, I don't have a micro center near me. Can I order through them and have it shipped? Any advice? Really like how cheap this build is! Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I would LOVE if this build can work. Every other build ive been looking at/people have recommended have been $1,000+ and that too expensive for me as I still need to buy a monitor/keyboard.

Okay thanks for the quick reply!

  1. Location - Idaho

  2. Will this build run Arma, DayZ, H1Z1, League of Legends, etc.. only games i can think of that i will play right now.

  3. I don't have a Micro Center near me. Can you order parts through them/have them shipped to you?

  4. In the future i would like to stream. Will i have issues with this build doing that?

  1. Awesome

  2. About games, Best way to check is always youtube the game with the gpu. I am not a guy of multiplayer games, so I don't play games like this. For example DAYz: I found that the 750ti will find a little difficult to handle him on ultra, but it will be fine if you play on high or just remove some damnding effects. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5P4GVV2Hndw LoG seems to be fine on Ultra: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxHYzvhl0g0

3.The stores that on the list here, weren't really bought from them. We don't have any of them is Israel. I bought the parts from different local chain store here.

4.The hardware is great for streaming, movies through the home network from other PCs,Netflix, Hulu, Sound Cloud. I think bassicaly, Actualley You don't need beast like this for streaming, you can build rig for 250-300 that be good in the same way, even lower if you give up on GPU.

Some Notes: For the new guy I always recommended to learn the charts of the all the GPU, This will take you to better realization about how the gtx 750 ti among other gpu's. You will find that the 750 ti is not amazing card, Some games of now (AC:Unity) need to be with high or med settings to play them well. If you don't mind about graphic, so he will be prove long for launching games generally. Check this link http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce+GTX+750+Ti

Thanks for the reply. The 750ti isn't the best like you said, so i might try and upgrade that a little.

I noticed you dont have an Operating System?

Also you don't have a cpu cooler?

Have you had any problems with this build?

I think the video card you picked is not exactly the one you installed, btw.

I find it hard to believe, it's the same brand, same company, and it described same. But tell me I would like to hear your explanation.

In your pictures it looks like a full height card, but the video card you have is a half height? Unless I somehow missed something.

MSI Makes 3 different 750 Ti cards.

The MSI N750ti-2GD5TLP - This is a low profile card that you have linked in your build.

The MSI N750TI-2GD5/OC - This is the one you have in your build.

and the MSI N750Ti TF 2GD5/OC - this is the Twin Frozer edition with two fans.

I only know this because I nearly made the mistake of getting the one you have, when I needed the low profile one you have linked.
