Build

Obsidian Build

by ukkendoka

Description

Looks good in the end and quiet.

"Challenges":

  • Great cooler, but fixing the radiator inside the case was a f'king nightmare. It took a few attempts. Screws provided were not good to fix the radiator to the case. Had to resort to some case screws as I couldn't find how to zip tie it.

  • I am pleased with the look of the case, but the room at the back is too small and so I cannot recommend it.

  • M.2 - First time I have used one. Pain in the arse to get windows to boot from it. Love it now though :)

  • Motherboard - Jesus trying to get the driver for the HD Realtek to work was at the worst bit. Think it was windows fault though. Service pack update fixed it. Looking at the internet, loads people with this problem.

P.s.

Part Reviews

CPU

Really pleased got it up to 4.5ghz no problem

CPU Cooler

Love the look of the cooler and helped me get good overclock on my CPU with low temperatures.

A nightmare to fix to the case. Probably the case's fault (and mine). This is why it is 4 stars, because it reflects my experience.

Motherboard

Was going to go with the Asus board, but read about some problems. Had a problem with the realtek working, but I think that was a windows thing, but because after it downloaded an update or two it started working fine.

Storage

So pleased with this thing.

Really fast boot times. Windows in a few seconds

Storage

So pleased with this little thing. I bought one to boot from, then seeing how good it was bought another. I will always use M.2 from now on. Fantastic.

Case

Great looking case, but not much room in back.

I struggled fixing my closed loop cpu cooler (cooler master nepton) to the case. Partly my fault and partly the case. 4 stars

Keyboard

My first mechanical keyboard and love this thing. Not great to work with, but good for games. That is because it is very unforgiving with mistakes and you mistype very easily. Good for twitchy fps though.

Cool, thanks.

Done.

Care if you copy this build. Had some challenges with fixing the cooler radiator to the case and the space at the back was tight.

¨Care if you copy this build,¨ not sure what you mean by that. Thanks, though, this is a pretty cool build. Good job!

Hi there, sweet build..... This might be a noob question, but does this mobo have a USB 3.0 header? (Building in a H440)

ukkendoka submitter 1 Build 1 point 31 months ago

Thanks man.

So pleased with my build actually. Now planning to SLI another graphics card :) . M.2. SD was so worth it as well.

Yep, has USB 3, spec details here.
