Description

So, I've built this PC back in November 2019 and it's part of a series of where I decided to "pimp up" all the computers in the office to match mine. But first - if you are interested in seeing me building it, check my video in YouTube of How I PIMPED this PC and if you enjoyed it - like, comment and subscribe to my channel Technotize where I'll shoot and upload videos of my future builds regularly.

About the PC itself - it's used mainly for front-end coding at the office, so there is no need for something high-end. It was revamped from a Lenovo Thinkstation E31, so I worked with what I got (mostly), except few of the accessories Though later on I had to change the motherboard since there are some bended pins that couldn't be fixed. But what you get is what you paid for, so... that's the deal with second-hand parts.

The backplate of the graphics card is custom made by me. It's not the best, but I'm happy with it.

The cooler - I'm really amazed how such a small thing make wonders. No issues so far with the temperatures from regular use.

Nice build! How’s that arctic cooler?

Hey, thanks. For normal use is decent - Idle temps are about 30° C. On heavy load - about 60-62 max, but that heavy load is very rare. And it's very quiet. On heavy load the RPM are about 1000 (from max 2000), so for that CPU is good enough. And it's CHEAP.

Looks great! Where did you buy the GTX 650 card?

I got it several years ago from a friend for $25 USD. You can find many in that price range on ebay

Only CS:GO so far.
On 1080p with medium settings ~60 fps average.
On 720p with medium settings ~110 fps average.

Thanks, though it's with my phone, not with the camera

Really? What type of phone do you have and how do you make them look like they were taken by a professional? The best way I can describe it is that the images are so crisp but there is a softness to the overall tone and lighting (not sure if that makes sense).

It does make sense :) My phone is Xiaomi Poco F1. Yeah, it does good images still, but it's not like DSLR camera, where you can have even better results. The photos are made with the Portrait mode, where the Camera app is using both cameras on the back. The main camera is for the object on focus, the second camera is for the stuff out of focus (on the background). Almost every modern phone with 2 or more cameras can make photos like this :)

I’ve never heard of that brand. Do you live outside the USA? I have an iPhone 7+ XS Max but I very rarely use portrait mode. I will give that a try tonight. Thanks!

Yeah, I do not live in the US. Xiaomi is like Huawei 5 years ago. They started with very cheap and powerful smartphones and now they are increasing their prices because of the popularity of the brand (at least in Europe and Asia). Both of your iPhones should do similar photos in Portrait mode, just try it out.

as someone who just wishes to have a good enough pc to game csgo with friends, can i ask - can i play this at ~30 fps with reccomended settings without having to deal with flickering fences and quality as if its from the 1990's?

also, what about the 3 fans on the bottom? do they come with one of the components or do they come seperately? and if so, are they vital to the pc or not?

Hey. You can definitely play CS:GO.
On medium setttings without any tweaking on 1080p average FPS is about 60.
On medium setttings without any tweaking on 720p average FPS is about 110.
So yeah - you can play CS:GO. We are playing from time to time at the office. But optionally you can get better GPU for the same bucks or even cheaper - for example HD5870. I'm finishing my new YouTube video with a new build /same design/ and I'll upload it in few days and add the build here as well.
About the fans - they are extra. You can get them pretty cheap from AliExpress. They are not vital at all. They are just for good looks. The CPU and the graphics card are in good temperatures even without the fans.
