Description

I built this system to replace a previous build I put together. I wanted something with the potential for expansion and requires less maintenance. I also wanted a bump in power to take better advantage of the ROG swift monitor.

The majority of this system was put together back in May. I was waiting on my custom cables from MAINFrame Customs before taking pics and posting this build.

i love how well all of the rog stuff goes together. +1

jambii420 1 Build 5 points 31 months ago

Second that. I especially like how well your case fits with the theme.

Brandonshah 8 Builds 7 points 31 months ago

I don't even have panties, but if I did they certainly dropped. Amazing.

criphision 3 Builds 5 points 31 months ago

This...is beautiful. :') Pictures of it on would be super duper!

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 3 points 31 months ago

I'll see what I can do. Still trying to figure out how to take darker pictures with the PC lights on. They usually come out grainy and the lighting too bright.

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Thanks for the tip, I'll give that a shot.

TheEventide 2 points 31 months ago

Any luck? I'm trying to work out if I want to go with the LED fans or not!

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

I've posted additional pics.

Eddie0711 1 Build 3 points 31 months ago

Awesome photos and an even better rig! I don't think anyone does red and black as well as Asus ROG...especially love those black heat pipes on the 980s. Would love to see a photo of the whole thing lit up!

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

I'll try taking a couple of shots and post 'em up.

OnilEssallal 3 points 31 months ago

Pretty sure this is the cleanest build i've ever seen… spectacular job

beLIEve 3 points 31 months ago

those gpu's look perfect with that mobo

Killer_68 1 Build 3 points 31 months ago

Dam son where d'ya find this +1

vikingXcore 4 Builds 3 points 31 months ago

Eh, It's just another black and red system. Who even likes black and red anymore, am I right?! :D

But, come on. In all fairness all i have to say is this

IT'S.... BEAUTIFUL....

The parts are awesome the scheme was very well done, the custom cords look great!

The pictures look really great!

I really thought this was a skemble build when I started on the pics, then I realized oh no, it's the guy with the awesome open-air frame rig from a while back with custom water cooling (which, also, was superb by the way.)

This is really great though. The case looks like a very comfortable VS angel at a photo shoot.

Golf clap? I think we need a golf clap here.

Moochi_Mane 1 Build 3 points 31 months ago

Is that the 2-way sli bridge or 3-way?

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 3 points 31 months ago

It's the 2-way SLI bridge.

rscarth 2 points 30 months ago

Where do you get the ROG bridge and how much are they?

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

I got it off ebay, including shipping it fell just under $50.

pegotico 2 Builds 2 points 31 months ago

very nice build!!

danieltoruno 1 Build 2 points 31 months ago

Amazing build SO clean. The photos are fantastic as well, however I'd like to see this beauty in your desk setup to see how well everything fits together. +1

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 2 points 31 months ago

I'll take some extra shots with the complete setup sitting on a desk.

danieltoruno 1 Build 2 points 31 months ago

Awesome! I'll be sure to check it out once it's posted!

raysfan98 1 Build 2 points 31 months ago

Words can't describe how beautiful this build really is! That's from a hardware and Aesthetics perspective! +100 from me man! Great!

djole2002 2 points 31 months ago

Well... DAMN Really nice build, but how is that h110i GT working for you, is the pump loud?

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

I can't really hear the pump with all the fans spinning in the case. The stock H110i GT fans get pretty loud. So much so I can hear the side panel rattle a little. I'll have to place some padding on certain parts of the case.

Harvey_TM 2 points 31 months ago

This is freakin epic. Awesome build mate ;)

Atron 1 Build 2 points 31 months ago

Nice build though surprised at no X99 at this price point but those pictures are amazing and you couldnt ask for better cable managment.

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

I would of loved to go X99, but for the jump in price for the specific parts I wanted, I would have gone past my budget.

Muhkyle 1 Build 2 points 31 months ago

This looks so perfect, I thought it might be a Cinema 4D rendering.

awulala 2 Builds 2 points 31 months ago

my dream build :(

IVANZXT 1 Build 2 points 31 months ago

Excellent work.

Eddie0711 1 Build 2 points 31 months ago

Thanks for adding the extra photos! This is probably my favourite build on here such an awesome effort!

danieltoruno 1 Build 2 points 31 months ago

Oh my! (follow up comment) This has to be one of the sexiest builds I have seen on this site and I'm excited to see you added more pictures. I wish I could +1 this more! Amazing build man!

greyXstar 2 points 31 months ago

Amazing build and photos! I'm planning a very similar build. Was cable management difficult in the Noctis with the extensions?

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 2 points 31 months ago

The only issues I had were routing the extensions for the 4x 8pin PCIe cables through the hole in the PSU shroud. The cables are a bit stiff and took some fiddling to get them to sit properly. Other than that there was plenty of room to route the other extensions behind the motherboard tray.

mhiziab 1 Build 2 points 31 months ago

Gorgeous presentation, and the build itself is so damn meticulous that I'm left feeling inferior. Hats off to ya.

AlexDimGR 2 points 31 months ago

This is BEAUTIFUL!! Best build i ve seen in a long time Good Job man. (From where did you got your custom sleeving?)

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

I got them from MAINFrame Customs.

SnowDropZero 2 points 30 months ago

Can you modify the 980s so the leds are red? I hear its not hard and is easily reversible.

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Yeah, I found instructions on LinusTechTips forums, http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/325424-making-the-led-on-asus-gtx-980-matrix-always-red/. I may try this eventually.

jcarrico1985 2 points 30 months ago

I'm just very curious about how the temps are in this case. Would you be willing to share? I am about to complete a build very similar to this, except with 2x 980 Ti's. I just want to make sure that the cards will have enough airflow (not really thinking it'll be a problem but it never hurts to make sure!)

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

At idle the top card is @ 35 °C and the bottom card is @ 32 °C. After Running 3DMark Firestrike Ultra I get top @ 73 °C and bottom @ 64 °C. GPU utilization at 99% for both cards.

LittleL0L 1 Build 2 points 30 months ago

I actually remember having a LED CPU fan inside my Windows 2000, funny how I didn't realize there was for case fans too.

Looking forward to get some like these ones, fantastic build btw :D

SnowDropZero 2 points 30 months ago

Where did you get the Enthusiast ROG SLI bridge? I found some on amazon for absurd prices though. How much did you pay?

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

I picked it up off of ebay for $46.97 which included shipping. I got lucky at the time since most auctions were going for ~$200 and the one I scooped up was being sold in the US. It looks like the price has come down a bit since then.

Crispybagel 2 Builds 2 points 29 months ago

brilliant, ive heard the asus 980's are a bit loud but still components are (y).

AlexDimGR 2 points 29 months ago

Upload some more pictures man i cant get enough of your build

MetroidHunter26 1 Build 2 points 28 months ago

This build is just gorgeous. I will get a build like this sans the 2nd 980 and the $90 SLI bridge (T_T Asus why you no make more!!) ROG theme is just so damn good.

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 1 point 24 months ago

I got lucky and found it on ebay for under $50 shipped.

Whiteshadow001 2 points 27 months ago

This build is simply gorgerous

inomnipotentludus 2 points 27 months ago

On your cables, was the sleeving colored "dark red" or "red?"

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 1 point 24 months ago

It was red.

ialex536 2 points 27 months ago

I can only dream of being able to get 1tb ssd storage and two 980's.

ShreddedPotato 2 points 27 months ago

This is the definition of perfection.

SquadronAce 1 Build 2 points 27 months ago

That SLI Bridge totally completes the build

connor-heath 2 points 26 months ago

that is just about exactly like a computer i designed and i was gonna build later next year

AlexDimGR 2 points 25 months ago

Why dont you submit your FREAKING AWESOME setup on Setup Wars or Room Tour Project? Your setup is 10000% better than most of the other setups out there. ( +I would LOVE to see more pics)

OccamAsylum 12 Builds 2 points 24 months ago

Beautiful build... stunning photos as well.

StrifeWolfe1994 2 Builds 2 points 24 months ago

Wow, that is clean. Solid color scheme that you stuck to, can't go wrong with Red on Black. And a solid selection of hardware in a sexy case. I'm about to post my updated rig soon, it's just a quick update until Broadwell-E comes out and I can snag up a new MOBO, CPU and RAM. My H100i decided to poop out, and rather than just replace that, I replaced the ITX mobo with an ATX one, I've had my Noctis 450 Midnight Blue hanging around. And plus, I'm going to run SLi 980s as well, so I needed my PCI slots. Really love your build, gives me some ideas on how to clean mine up when the shiny new bits get here.

DKrait 2 points 24 months ago

Super clean, and amazing colors..... 1+

Zokudark 2 points 23 months ago

Out standing build wow! and great presentation. where did you get the custom cables from? and was it hard to install the breaded cables?

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 1 point 23 months ago

I got the cables from MainFrame Customs. They are just extensions so they are simple to install.

rck1984 2 Builds 2 points 23 months ago

Simplicity at it's best, i love how clean it looks! +1

Vladonizer 2 Builds 2 points 19 months ago

Question, why do you not have the side panel on? just don't like it or are the extentions get in the way?

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 1 point 19 months ago

It was off for pictures only. Otherwise the panel is always on.

Dotica 1 Build 2 points 14 months ago

Amazing job with this. Sorry this comment is a bit late...

Value 1 point 31 months ago

Looks really sleek. Just that one white fan exhaust fan that looks a bit out of place :P

Your previous build looks amazing too. Probably the best ITX machine I have ever seen in my life and the pictures you take look like they are straight out of a magazine. Fantastic work.

This should be featured.

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

There are 3 more of the same type fan in the front. I would swap out the H110i GT fans but can't find anything spec wise to replace it and match the other fans.

AAKK4477 1 point 31 months ago

you could have gotten dual 980 ti's...

SnowDropZero 2 points 31 months ago

The Asus 980ti is ugly. And the Gigabyte 980ti is black and white. The Asus Matrix 980s are enough and they are very sexy.

dedicass 1 point 30 months ago

Where did you get those cables

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

MAINFrame Customs

dedicass 2 points 30 months ago

thx

TehGuineapig 1 point 30 months ago

You go all out and get a Blackwidow Chroma and you set the colour to red...

Otherwise, amazing build! This really raised my hopes for the Noctis that I will be building in

ericzeien@live.com 1 Build 1 point 29 months ago

Beautiful build! Hopefully you see this, but I have the noctis 450 as well. I was wondering what the temperatures are like at load with the sli config? Thanks!!!

haydenarmentrout 1 point 29 months ago

How are you liking the keyboard?

ibrahim13245 1 point 28 months ago

can someone tell me what is the name of the sli bridge please.

TheSaint1 1 point 28 months ago

Asus ROG enthusiast 2 way SLI bridge

RomanoAri 1 point 28 months ago

What cables are you using?

MetroidHunter26 1 Build 2 points 28 months ago

Those are custom sleeved cables. You can make them or buy extensions (and the parts to make your own) at http://mainframecustom.com

F22Rohirrim 1 Build 1 point 25 months ago

The lower front portion of the windowed side panel the lower right hand looking at it straight on. Would it fit a 5.5 by 6.5 inch decal?

Hen_Ree 1 Build 1 point 23 months ago

I was looking at getting the Astro a40. What do you think of it? Would you recommend it?

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 1 point 23 months ago

I personally like the a40s. They are light weight and comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. The design allows my ears to breath. These were replacements for my dying logitech g930s which caused my ears to sweat and became uncomfortable after about an hour of use.

SuperQuinn 1 point 22 months ago

This thing is dirt nasty clean

Dragon_Ninja10 1 point 20 months ago

i want that SLI bridge, Where do you get it

but other than that its a really good build

shuanbarclay 1 Build 1 point 18 months ago

Holy **** our builds are near identical

Kinumei 1 point 17 months ago

Amazing build! Simple and beautiful. One question though: I also have the Noctis 450 and H110i GT, and during the build, mounting the radiator and fans for pull, inside of the case, at the top, proved to be a tight fit. In your pictures (which are really nice by the way), it seems that you have the radiator outside of the case, under the top panel, with the fans as a push from inside the case, with the radiator hoses coming down from the top. It might be a dumb question but, how does one mount the radiator like you have here? Just have the long screws go through the fans and meet the radiator at the top? How is the radiator secured to the case like this?

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 1 point 17 months ago

Thanks, glad you liked it. The radiator is sitting outside just under the top cover. The screws are long enough to go through the fan > top of case > radiator. There is enough hold for it to stay in place. Let me know if you have any other questions =).

Kinumei 1 point 16 months ago

Hm. Okay. Thank you very much :) I'll be sure to try this when I have the time to take apart my system again. The extra room inside the case would be nice

NoctisLucisCaelum 1 point 17 months ago

What optical drive can it use?

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 1 point 17 months ago

I just use an external optical drive (USB) in the small chance that I need to use one.

PapaGator4 1 Build 1 point 16 months ago

You sir,Da real MVP! Can you tell me what type of camera do you use to capture this monster and the settings of it? It looks gorgeous tho!!!

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 1 point 16 months ago

Glad you like the photos. I used a Canon Rebel T1i. Just had good natural lighting in the room I was in and had it setup on a tripod. I just had the camera on the no-flash setting.

MARCOzid 1 point 12 months ago

do the case LED still work?

and does the window has many scratches?

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 1 point 12 months ago

LEDs work fine and Window still looks clean.

MARCOzid 1 point 12 months ago

do u leave the case LED on or off all the time?

and window doesn't have any scratches? thnx :)

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 1 point 12 months ago

Yup, anytime the PC is on the LEDS are always on as well. For the window you just need to be careful when cleaning it. There are very few hairline scratches.

DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

I like the case for its aesthetics and feature set. In regards to the finish; while handling the case it can pick up light scratches from finger nails and collects dust easily. However, it can be wiped away with a microfiber clothe. I do have a scratch on the front lower panel (can be seen on first pic) which smoothed away the matte finish. The metal pieces are a decent thickness and not flimsy at all. For the price and what you get, its well worth it.

[comment deleted]
DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

I was thinking about getting the H440, but went straight for the Noctis 450 when it was announced. The white version of the Noctis would be sweet, plenty of parts to choose from to match a build with that case .

[comment deleted]
DGON-MKII submitter 6 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

I've been a fan of the Asus ROG brand and their color scheme, so it was an easy decision for me to go with black/red. The majority of my builds have been black/red. If i were to do another I would most likely try a white/blue build. The white Noctis would defiantly be a top choice... unless they were to release something even better.
